31  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Invited Sim leaves as soon as they show up on: April 12, 2011, 03:16:37 am
No, it is not a separated problem. I seriously believe that mesh problems can have influence on game behaviours. It can affect whatever and there's no rule to know what is going to be corrupted or not. The simple fact that you include a new mesh in your game can modify its structure. This game reads files in alphabetical order, some tools read them for date order like clothes and hairs. There's a lot that can cause problems, but fortunately there's solution for all of them. I suppose that our friend uses simple extraction at EAxis system (he said that he plays the game Out of the Box), so he must also check where he is extracting the files and create a new private system to identify them. EAxis system has been a mess from birth.

Then you found the solution already. Send your sim to the mirror and change his appearance to everything that you know belongs to the original game, no cc. Do the same sending him to the next Wardrobe, commode, dresser or whatever you have and change his clothing to something base game. Then save the game, exit the lot and move him and his family out of the house. Bulldoze the house in the case that it is corrupted and move him and the family to a new house. This should solve all your trouble. If he is showing only the head when he is in the shower, you have a conflict with a mesh that is disturbing the game nude, maybe a male pregnance? Or any Body shape different from the ones in game? A linked skin color that doesn't have the proper mesh? Check your game now for this kind of issue.

Orphan files. And you can also check if you didn't download any lot or family that could eventually bring some unwanted hacks or mods with it. Problems of this kind are normally caused by hacks related to the visitor generator.
34  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Cas Crash-adult only on: April 11, 2011, 03:30:27 am
Delete the big file created by BodyShop. Yes, it will slow down miserably when showing thumbs but will refresh and be much better later. Delete also the new recolors you made. You must have made something very wrong that was misunderstood in BodyShop, it can be that you used wrong color specification and it is read by the game as something extra not translated. You know that it is only adult, so check the adult clothing recolor you made and this time open them in Simpe. If you see a big X instead of the texture, this is the problem one. It happens often with objects when you change the texture many times, it can be that it happens with clothing too.
35  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: More Game problems on: April 11, 2011, 03:21:38 am
Clean up all caches from the game and mainly clean up the cache files created by Bodyshop, they have no other use than show up thumbs quickly in BodyShop. The problem is that BodyShop creates thumbs of all the creation phases and don't clean them up if you delete an item. This means that if you make a recolor and is not satisfied and repeat the process 100 times, the BodyShop cache will keep hundreds of thumbs that are not used and will stuff up to be enormous big. It also creates references that are similar to the ones created by the game and will confuse things. People that use BodyShop very often have more chances for game crashes. BodyShop is NOT part of the game but creates references on the same place as the game.
36  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Changing a mod to use a new object on: April 11, 2011, 03:09:56 am
It all depends of what kind of modification it is being done to the object. The bed is one of the most complex and easy to fail object in game. What is this mod doing?
If it is pie menu based, that is, it is specifying which age it is allowed to use, or the value of energy or attractiveness, you have only to open your other custom bed and transfer the values so that they look the same on both.
If it is something more complex like modifying a bhav, there's also a very easy way to mod. Open the pie menu of the custom bed and check which bhav was modified. Beds use only globals so the pie menu in Simpe gives you access to all bed globals, all you have to do is read the bhav from the pie menu and choose "Include in the Package". The bhav will be copied in your package and you can modify it to look exactly like the one you have in the modded bed. Change the bhav number to be a sequence of the custom bed and change the reference in the pie menu to point to your new bhav instead. If it sounds too complicated for you, you don't have enough skills to do it. Try to learn a little bit more, when you have a modded object that does what you wish, you can use it as model to build up a new one. Just look very thoroughly and try to reproduce all the steps.
37  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Will my computer be able to handle more than one EP? on: April 11, 2011, 02:55:17 am
Apartment Life has introduced more than witches and apartments, it has changed the whole game system to benefit. It was the EP that gave you more flexibility when you choose which EP you want to have. If you don't have AL, install M&G, it makes the same without any extras. To say the truth it is recommended to have all of them for best game play. Of course you'll get a lot of things that you may hate, but there's enough means to get rid of them. One of the most irritating in having all EPs is the memories and the wants&fears. I got rid of the wants&fears because it acts to me like having someone commanding ME all the time and this is something that I do not Tolerate. If you let one EP out, what you are really doing is to miss all the special effects and animations. They are included in every EP and do not have any CarryForward file. The other thing is that you have to look for very special modders when you don't have the whole set and they are the ones that cares very much to include codes to identify which EP the user has. The problem is that most of those modders also include a lot of extra global sets to get the results they need and it causes dependence (if you take them out, you're handicapped). A good example, if you don't have ALL eps installed, avoid all and everything produced by xptl, it will sure cause you troubles.
38  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Invited Sim leaves as soon as they show up on: April 11, 2011, 02:40:04 am
In a game without hacks, you are running the game globals and if you invite a child or teen, children has only permission to stay out up to 6pm (18) and teens to 9pm (21), Adults can stay up to 1am. To invite to stay over the night, you have to make the invitation before 6pm (18) or there won't be even a menu for invitation. If you don't have hacks and have a conflict anyway, check your ccs (clothing, hairs, etc) with Clean Install or any tool you may have to check the files integrity. Mesh or texture problems CAN cause other problems that are not even related.

Thanks bunches, mookie, it is exactly what I had in mind and much better due to the dirty old look. I don't even need to recolor.  YAY
Thanks, Happy Thought, I won't go there because it is against our rules to buy custom content. I also cannot use money unless the source is located or represented in Norway or Sweden and I can do it personly, this is the way we do it among us here.
40  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: Grass cutter on: April 09, 2011, 03:22:59 am
I got this one but it is still childlike. I was meaning just a decorative mesh because I'm intending to have it specially assembled for another purpose. I need something recolorable in two parts and viewable from the nhood. I'm probably making it to a garden bench (only furniture item that is viewable off lot) and probably ridden by a doll, so I don't need anything functional. I'm still missing Bloom's items (heavy but very professional look). Is there any site out in space that deals on farm items maybe?
41  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Will my computer be able to handle more than one EP? on: April 09, 2011, 03:09:32 am
32bits Operating System can handle up to 3GB RAM no matter how much more you feed your computer with. A computer with about a 2.0 processor, 4GB RAM (where only 3 is used because the rest is reserved for supporting the OS), a hard disk more than 250GB, preferably 500 or two hardisks, a good graphic card (I'm running one computer with just 512MB Video RAM and it runs fine) and the latest OS you can get (Windows 7 is still a crap but is the best available) and you can install all the EPs, all stuff packs and a moderate amount of cc and you'll be fine. Test all your ccs to see if you REAAAALLY need them very badly. The best thumb rule is: if you do not use a cc very, very often, you do not need it. Use replacement packages the most you can, because you can always replace the whole content without any significant impact on the game (clothing for example). Open always a Test folder for new inclusions so that you test it good enough to be sure it is safe and you really need it. Update hacks and mods to the latest version (many of them takes care to identify which EP you have) and do not keep something just because it is cute or it is of everyone's use. Keep only what you need and use.
As to graphic cards, you must check what you computer system can support. The latest graphics that are on the 3rd generation shows impressive data but requires also impressive computers (that you really will just spoil to play TS2). Those GCs need more power from the input source and can cause very much heat. So look for something compatible with the system you have. When you increase RAM, try to buy bricks of the same kind and preferably same speed and same specifications. Some computers requires a pair of bricks to work well, so buy them always in pair when possible. Do not decorate hoods or lots excessively. If you are going to play Palaces, take care at only one is very big or you'll ballast your system and make you game laggy.
That's all.
42  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: WCIF shiny reflective glossy floors on: April 07, 2011, 06:29:05 am
I had the Murano thingie but it uses tons of ram to play, so I gave it up. I saw also once sort of tutorial to make shiny walls but I'm in my laziest phase and would rather get the food already cooked. If you find something memorable Happy Thoughts, can you give me some links. I'm going to try some of the glass floors too (hope I find something). Thanks.

Got many of the items but they do not work for me. I read the TXMT files and they were supposed to use reflection envcubes. In my game they look plain tiles, some very beautiful but nothing different. Got some supposed Gold or Silver Walls, but they do not even show in catalog. After I installed W7 many tools stopped working such as EA's tool to make walls and Floors and SimWardrobe's tools (that require a file that Microsoft eliminated from system). Anyone knows the solution for those problems? Thanks.
43  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Grass cutter on: April 07, 2011, 06:22:43 am
Anyone knows where I could find a good mesh of a grass clipper, preferably one we call Sittklipper, a sort of toy tractor you sit on the top to cut the lawn. I have a grass clipper made by feeessen but it is a little bit too childlike, I'm looking for something more dramatic. Thanks.
44  Simmers' Paradise / Content Creation & Recoloring Help / Re: Terrible Mistake on: April 06, 2011, 12:21:40 pm
The reason I'm making some deco dolls is that I make them always viewable from the hood view (or better say, from the neighbor lot). It is nice when I turn the camera around I see details from the neighbor house. I'm just intended to use some of the dolls to be placed on the corners of the lot, maybe leaning on a fence or mowing the lawn or just sit on a bench with babies laying on the sand or something alike. It is necessary to make huge objects if you make them just a hood deco and you never have a real sense for dimensions. So, I prefer to fake neighbors now. I have also some lots that are built not to be populated, like the deco houses. It makes a really full hood without any extra sims. Most of my sims are townies (my own townies, not created by the game). You know, I remember that in TS1 we had some small traces of custom anims where you could use some 3 or 4 framed textures to simulate small movements. I remember also that I downloaded a Swam (or duck, not sure) that could swim on the lake for a short distance. You know too that animals, mainly caged ones or on the surface of a lake, don't need a lot of animation, just some small movements to simulate life. This is basically what I'm very interested on. To say the truth, when I requested so eagerly for Pets in TS2, I was not at all meaning what we got. I wanted only a dog that greeted the owner the way they did in TS2 and barked a little when some passing-by were near. The crap we got with Pets going to job was disappointing. Cats do nothing in real life anyway. You should see Pal's cat, he thinks he is a mink and all he does is to lay down on Pal's neck.   Cheesy
I'm going to start again a new toddler as soon as my patience returns. It will be just a prop (like you say) but I have use for it. This time I'm going to start it from scratch and I'm also going to sculpture his face to be the way I like.
45  Simmers' Paradise / Content Creation & Recoloring Help / Re: Terrible Mistake on: April 06, 2011, 02:47:17 am
Oh boy! I tried to buy 3D Max once, a long ago, and they asked Nkr 32K for it. I wouldn't pay so much to save my life. I use a small free program named UVMapper, I also downloaded the one suggested at MS site (Lithunwrap)  but never used or understood it. I sometimes distribute the maps into 1024 canvas but I don't like to use so big textures, first they are not necessary (at least for me) as I play the game windowed and so much details are not needed. I see game objects that are mapped 128x128 and look perfect, so I suppose that it is the mesh self that decides the quality. Yep I shrink the maps so that I can have everything in one sheet and this is the reason it sees so borked. Yep, the maps for your babies look perfect but you could agree with me that to use so much resources on something that is so small that you cannot even zoom in near enough, is not the ideal for someone like me that use the game to play it. It is very possible that soon I want just to sit and enjoy my game and stop all the messing up crap I'm doing now. There's very little left that I'm not that satisfied. Also yes, I have things in my game that I KNOW that is completely wrong, but for game-play it is not important at all. All I'm proud of, is that my game either crashed or hung for about 2 years (isn't it this long EA is away? yep, thanks for leaving!  rolleyes  Cheesy
