46  Simmers' Paradise / Content Creation & Recoloring Help / Re: Custom tv commercials? on: April 05, 2011, 02:23:56 am
So far I know, these videos have own configuration to show up in game. I suppose you should take a look on how the game videos are configured.
47  Simmers' Paradise / Content Creation & Recoloring Help / Re: Terrible Mistake on: April 05, 2011, 02:21:29 am
I could start from scratch again and import the meshes self. I used the mesh I downloaded from MTS2 and forgot simply that they joined the parts and didn't correct the UVMap. Normally I UVMap the separated parts before I start positioning them. I think that the uvmap is more important than the mesh because it is what I use for base when recoloring. I save the bitmap and use it as first layer to position the colors on. On the case of this mesh, only the front of the head is available and is underlying the rest of the body. When you have two separated parts, it is very easy to move the lines in the uvmap by selecting from categories, but when it is only one part you don't even know what is part of what. The downloaded meshes was a good idea, but turned out to be completely unuseful. People that places special meshes for download I suppose should care that a proper UVmap is available.
Right now I don't have any fun to remake the toddler positioning. It took me a lot of work to come out with this special position. I would need a little bit more learning on "normals" and mesh structure because I'm not exactly expert on such stuffs. If you can correct it Theraven I would be much more happy to be just a downloader. Thanks.

I downloaded some animation meshes today and got very interested to create a special toddler doll. Unfortunately I forgot to check the UV Map of the original mesh before I finished positioning the doll. Result is that the UV Map is a tragedy and I'm not that good to change UV Maps. Is it possible for someone with more know how than me to correct it - or should I simply scrap it?

I'm glad I lost my sense for dates since the early 80'ies. I barely know which day of the week it is mainly because I have regular commitments for each day.  Grin I was not even aware that we're already in April. It is sour outside as every long winter. It is even foggy today, I have 1/2 meter half melted snow on both sides of the house. I'm not any fond of warm weather, but I also hate snow, rain, thunderstorms and all nature sneezings. Got to finish some of the pets crap and I'm going to post for my friend. As to Windows, I always wished I could kick Msoft's butt, bad that alternatives are even more frustrating.  Sad
50  A Safe Haven / General Discussion / Re: What are you currently doing (besides being here)? on: April 01, 2011, 02:24:21 am
Have been very frustrated. Got a request from my pal to create some wild meshes for pet cats. I'm becoming a little better in MS meshing but I'm still completely disappointed with the grid system used in MS in relation to TS2. I had to launch the game more than 20 times just to adjust a perfectly square object inside the grid, it goes a little bit too much to the left or to the right, but never fits. To make things worse, though I'm very satisfied with Windows 7, it has the most elendig Files Manager I've ever seen. I delete a folder, next time I use Windows Explorer it tries to open the last file that was inside the deleted folder, it crashes and has to be recovered. The search engine is so poor that you have to use * in front of every search or it is not able to find even a complete and isolated word. Hell. Got to make two meshes for cats, a pile of sand (cat toilet) that can be placed even on the beach (have wondered how sims would feel when stepping on it. Eeeeek!) and a cat tree, that didn't work as I wished. I had to create either a cat post or a simple tree, not both in one. On the end I realized that I need just a tree, deformed enough to include a totally separated cat condo. Cloned the cat condo and it comes out that Pets is completely different from the rest of TS2, obviously a work from another company. The cat condo is somehow slaved to itself and if you clone it, it will still be exactly the same as the original, totally incomplete. Hell again. Not a surprise that there are not so many posted works for pets.
51  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: Not neccesarily sim content, but a program that finds meshes? on: March 29, 2011, 09:35:16 am
I had a similar problem, maybe inverted, where I downloaded a lot of meshes AND recolors and ended up with unidentified files. Such a program would be feasible, though I don't know if it exists already. All Bodyshop recolors have a 3D Id reference; two references are used to connect meshes to recolors and one of them is the SHAPE. Not sure but the shape identification starts always with FF and as it is a sequence of 8 digits, two can be discarded and you end up with a sequence of 6 digits. If a program could check the shape nrs sequence with the mesh, it would identify every recolor and meshes without mistakes. Yep, simpe can do this but it is a manual search. There must be a way to batch search. According to an answer I got, you can use clean installer to look for orphans, but you still have to download everything available and hope that you got all you needed.
If you are looking for a program that looks for meshes for you (such an internet search) you don't need a program, you need to program all mesh makers. Some use the most absurd criteria for identification. I'm done with hairs that have the number 9999, the mesh is 1111 and the recolor is 3333. For text identification they write "Made by Mary Poops - www  closedforbusines dotcom."  shocked
52  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Sim Families & Groups / Re: The Unborked Brokes on: March 28, 2011, 11:45:08 am
I didn't understand the "no character" files. I know the "no character data" files and they are absolutely impossible to ressurrect, because they were irreparably destroyed. I don't know about the Bat box but if you use the FFS debugger and the option "Memory - fix corrupt", almost all the memories of the sims that came with the game will be erased. It is very simple, if you make a copy of any of your played hoods and change the hood number, for example you change from hood N004 to N104 just to have two exact copies of the same hood, you can't use FFS fix corrupt memory in the copy. It will consider all memories as corrupted, just because the hood number is not matching. This is what happened to all the three Base Game hoods, they had probably other numbers before. All the borkness in those hoods were caused by experiments before the game was released. The worst and most borked are the Brokes, just because EA has probably experimented with Scripting in this lot. Bella Goth was probably lost in some experiments. Do you remember that the first EP released introduced a Gypsy woman that if you contacted her, Cassandra Goth disappeared from the game without a trace? Do you remember the babies that suddenly disappeared from the game and they were nowhere to find? What you are doing when you insist in recover mishappenings from suspicious experiments is to bork your whole game even more. To say the truth I don't understand why keeping the original look of the characters are so important. I reafirm that Skip Broke is just a copy of the Body Shop Manequim. There's no way he can be the father of Dustin. The original Skip has the look of the model Dustin is alike, you know, the one with pancake face and boxer beaten nose. I recreated Skip using this original model and I really got the two boys, one exactly like Dustin and the other exactly like Bo. So, you are recovering the look of the borked character not the original. I made it even more simple: I recreated all the families using my own taste for models, so my games are composed of 25 families that are full-time available for placing on any hood. All I have to do is to move them in. When I have to reinstall the game for any reason, I simply delete the 3 hoods and place mine.
I agree with you Miss Bubles - play clones.

Nope, If you ressurrect Michael and place him in the Townies Family, he will be in the same family as Bella. Don't think about it, just do it. Bella is very easy to recover. She is somewhere in the default family. Use Simpe, find her and throw her in the Townies Family. Everybody that you throw in the Townies Family you have only to wait that they show up as visitor in a lot. Do not teleport them, wait patiently, or get your sims and visit community lots. One day they will meet them and then you can play them normally. There are some nuances in this game that you only discover if you PLAY it. The game is not so borked as you may think. There are some measures that were taken to correct obvious mistakes. EA can be very poor in creativity but they still have professionals that know how to do their job. Trust them sometimes, mainly if play your game you will see that technically it is not that bad.
54  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Sim Families & Groups / Re: The Unborked Brokes on: March 27, 2011, 06:37:49 am
You will have no problems to do it. Darlen Dreamer and Michael Bachelor are not borked. All you have to do is to ressurrect them on a special way. If you have any object for perfect ressurrections, use it but don't keep them in the lot. Instead use something to throw them in the Townies family. Darlen has all the memories about her son Dirk (I think) but she is also unlinked, so she doesn't have any link to the husby. So, do it this way: 1) ressurrect her; 2) Put her in the Townies family; 3) Develop the relationship between her and the supposed husband; 4) kiss, make-out, engage and marry her to the man, because she is unlinked and you cannot repair this. She will move in like a brand new (old) family member. And you got it. Unfortunately all the other relatives are not just unlinked but have no character data and there's nothing that can be done about it.
Michael Bachelor: he has no clue that he was even married to Dina Caliente. If she did, she would be named Dina Bachelor. Those characters were rudely transferred from other hoods. If you don't know, if you transfer sims from one hood to another, they will bring all their relationships as no character data. This is what was done as ignorance of facts. Do the following to Michael Bachelor: 1) ressurrect him; 2) Throw him in the Townies family and Voila you got it. Michael don't fit at all Dina Caliente and it is waste of time to recover their relationship. Instead he has links to Bella Goth and could make a family reunion. Just as explanation, when you throw a borked or unlinked character in the Townies family, the first time they visit a lot, the game will try to recover their data the best possible. There are globals to give them zodiac sign, job, interest, even those FT nonsenses. So, the game will make the job for you. Have fun!
55  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: What goes to What? Fashion Help! on: March 20, 2011, 03:12:38 am
Thanks, this is a good advice for the future but sincerely for the case I was, when I downloaded more than 100 outfits, it would be really time taken. I use to visit sites very seldom and so when I see something interesting I download all I like. I also don't put things in my downloads folder before I'm totally sure that I really want it or need it. It has happened many times that I downloaded things based on pictures and when I placed in my game I wished I could cry.
To run CI regularly is also a very good advice, it is just that as I said before, my dwlds has by now about 750 subfolders and I use to join meshes to recolors as much as I can (one file) so that I never have recolors without meshes.
I contacted one of my fellows that has a little bit more experience with outfits, hairs and recolors and got another advice that I think it would be interesting to add here. He said: " all meshes and recolors are connected thru Shape and CRES. These items have unique numbers and the numbers are repeated in the recolor 3D Id. All I had to do was to check the 3D Id of every recolor and compare with the meshes. As I downloaded only a dozen meshes and several recolors, it was not that difficult. Then before placing the final result in my downloads folder, I added the text "Mesh xxx" after the text found in the item and then it became "Made by xxx - Mesh xxx". It is so easy that it could have been done as standard. By the way, I got 5 items that don't match each other, even when I was so careful and several meshes that were so little different from each other, that I could just get the recolor and transfer to the mesh that had most recolors on. I ended up with only 6 meshes and several recolors.
Thanks girls. Boys are still better with numbers.  Grin  Joking!  Problem solved. Thanks all for the help.
56  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / What goes to What? Fashion Help! on: March 19, 2011, 06:43:33 am
I followed a link from a post at MTS2 and landed on a site named LianaSims. There were some interesting outfits and I downloaded several of them and was very careful to download the outfit and the respective mesh simultaneously. Now I have a folder with about 100 outfits but I cannot connect the textures to the respective meshes because there's absolutely NOTHING to identify them. I opened each outfit in Simpe and all it is written in the Text list (that should identify what goes to what)  was an internett adress or just "Made by xxx". How the hell you girls identify all those outfits. If the only answer is to throw all the crap in the downloads folder and hope that they are correct, I think that I have to trash file about 33 MB and almost one hour of my time.
If someone has a better answer, thanks beforehand.
57  Simmers' Paradise / Sims Life Stories Help / Re: Permanently deleting sims on: March 17, 2011, 08:18:19 am
Are you talking about Life Stories and the Insimenator that is TS2? Have you checked if Pescados FFS Debugger work on your Life Stories Game? It has an option to correct invisible sims.
58  Simmers' Paradise / Clothing & Body Mesh's / Correction on 2 game outfits Request on: March 09, 2011, 11:18:20 am
Could please someone that can make clothes meshes, make a correction in two game outfits that I always dreamed to have repaired? The outfits are the aubodyclown (FreeTime) and the pajamas used by the sloppy date (Base Game).  Both have one of the legs shorter than the other and I would like to have them with simetrical legs. To say the truth I would like to have all outfits that have one leg shorter to have both simetrical (there are some others in game).
Outfits like the bodyclown are gender neutral and can be used for many other purposes. If they exist already I would love to be linked.
Thanks.
59  Simmers' Paradise / Mods & Careers / Re: Mod for Orphanage on: March 09, 2011, 07:57:12 am
I made a modification in Inge Jones' teleporter cat where I included the possibility to "sell" children when you place them for adoption and made a lot of modifications that allows me to adopt kids by changing or not their family names. Inge's teleporters have an "issue" (Huh?) that I considered more to "advantage" - teleporting kids to the orphan family or even teleporting sims to townie families, do not change their status or completely remove them from the original family they belong to. This means that my own "Aging" mod (the diver) cannot age townies teleported by Inge's the regular way 'cause the mod considers that the sim still belongs to the current family. There's something that happens when you move a sim thru the paper or computer: the sim enters in the taxi and is automatically hidden (this means that the sim is still in the lot, but hidden). When you exit the lot and enter the lot again, there's a global that remove all sims that are in the lot and don't belong to the family, but have another status other than visitor. If they were removed thru Inge's teleporter, they are no longer in the lot (I'm still wondering in a way to include the "hidden" possibility to allow the global to take effect).
There's a lot of mods to orphan a kid, but require too many extra mods from different modders. To combine different modders is something somehow risky. Every modder develops a style that becomes a sort of signature, you can even identify who modded by the way they mod. Sometimes you even see that the person who claims the modding in fact didn't, so it is much better to place all mods in a temporary folder and test them extensively before you consider to join different works. It is very difficult to identify the cause for a faillure when the type of modification done doesn't exactly use the same bhav (this is something that not even the Hack Conflict Detector can detect). So I would recommend that so far it is possible, prefer to use Object mods, that is, Objects that modify behaviours (because they privatize globals, when needed), not mods that modify Bhavs (they can contain or be part of globals).
60  Simmers' Paradise / Mods & Careers / Re: A Bethrothal/Arranged Marriage Mod? on: March 09, 2011, 07:29:07 am
Is it in an Adult site? The marriage arch that allows all types of marriage was upgraded by Inge Jones on a work of a boy/or girl named Marhis. If it is not in Inge's site, it is sure at Pescado's site. I have my own version and I am sure that there's nothing in it that justify to be posted in an adult site. Maybe you got another version?
