47  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Seasons - Flashing Accessories and No NPC Cooks (partially resolved) on: July 12, 2007, 07:04:29 pm
Hmm, I've still been considering that too... I had never had it occur until I got Seasons and didn't have a chance to install any updated hacks; that's pretty much why I thought it could be a (conflicting) hack.

However, since I recently completely uninstalled/reinstalled everything from scratch (all EPs and Stuff packs), that it kind of fixed it? I've noticed that (so far) my cooks have been generating fine, and I don't have any hacks at all in the game at the moment since I'm still placing stuff back into my Downloads folder.

EDIT: Ok, well, I checked the game with all of my hacks; this time, it's fine... The cooks are generating properly again. That's a really weird glitch, but I'm glad it's fixed. Smiley

So, both of my problems are completely resolved now... This thread can be locked/deleted or whatever. lol

UPDATE: 07-12-07

After a suggestion from Beosboxboy in a different (but similar thread), I tried something entirely new for my flashing accessories. Hopefully, I'm not getting too excited, but so far, it's working just fine. Cheesy

He suggested that you can export whatever accessory is flashing blue with Body Shop, then import it back in with a different name. I've tried this with a few necklaces and earrings and it's done just fine; no more flashing blue things!

Here's the thread where he mentions this "fix": http://www.insimenator.org/showthread.php?t=49762

However, I'm still digging through my hacks and other things to see if I can resolve the NPC cook issue... I'll keep you all updated. Smiley
49  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Jewellery on: July 12, 2007, 05:55:31 am
OMG, Beosboxboy, it worked!!! Cheesy

I've been having the flashing blue accessories since Pets as well... I never could figure out what was causing them. I did what you suggested, I Exported the jewelry with Body Shop, Renamed it, Imported it back in and deleted the original... Now the jewelry works fine!

Thanks sooo much for that tip!

So, I've installed the 2nd Seasons patch now; and, might I add, it look you long enough, EA...

Anyway, it did fix some of the major problems I was having. At least my community lot fish will properly generate in the ponds now instead of magically appearing and "swimming" through the grass! Cheesy

A few other things have been repaired for me too; such as the weather reactions messing up the swimming pools, the constant bathing, etc.

BUT, there's some things that the patch didn't repair and I'm kind of at a loss now. I know there's a chance that some of these may be dealt with by the time Bon Voyage comes out, but that's still quite a bit down the road.

The two biggest problems that it didn't repair are:

- Accessories! Yep, mine are still flashing blue; even Maxis default accessories are messed up, including the vampire fangs. Sad

- Community Lot Cooks! After getting Seasons, NPC cooks will no longer appear at my community lot restaurants. When my sims order food, the waiter/waitress will walk to the stove and stand there for a few seconds and then the food will just magically appear on the table in front of my sim.

I can also shift-click on the stove (with boolprop enabled, of course) and I can force an error/reset it, and the NPC cook will generate to the lot. They'll walk to the stove and start working like they're supposed to.
51  Sims 2 Community Downloads / April Foolery / Important announcement regarding "Donations and pay items". on: April 01, 2007, 11:38:38 am
Yeah, but that's kind of the point of April Fool's Day here in America... to make people look like fools and idiots. I've always hated it from the time I was a little kid, but what can you do?
52  Sims 2 Community Downloads / April Foolery / Important announcement regarding "Donations and pay items". on: April 01, 2007, 11:29:47 am
Well, I don't want to be rude or anything, but I'm afraid that I do have to agree with everyone's complaining.

I'm not as much upset at the thought of special "pay" items, but it had better not be the InSIMenator. There's no way in heck that I could make a donation; believe me, I would if I could.

I'm just hoping that this is some kind of a terrible April Fool's joke; well, at least the part about the InSIM being a part of the pay stuff.
53  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Problems with Fish and other Seasons actions on: April 01, 2007, 05:38:03 am
With the fish ponds, yeah, make sure that the pond is deep enough... Usually about 4 clicks down when you're placing water is good, but make sure the pond is wide too.

If you use the InSIMenator itself, make sure that you've downloaded the most up-to-date version. The older versions can cause errors in the game including not being able to fish.

Failing these two things, temporarily remove any hacks that you have in the game and check to see if that's causing the problem. It takes some time if you've got a lot of hacks, especially if you've got to check them one by one.

About the X-ray cursor, it became available to me in the Options panel once I used the UseShaders cheat. Frankly, I keep the X-ray cursor disabled, as I don't like it too much. Besides, I'm a responsible player; I'm not going to leave any puppies/kittens/babies out in the snow. Wink

EDIT: I'm still having the freezing/overheating problem myself; the ONLY way I've been able to see either one is through the new InSIMenator options. lol I was hoping very much that they would have fixed it in the first patch, but they didn't hardly do anything! Now, we'll have to wait about another 2 weeks for the next patch to be released. Sad
54  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Conflicting Hacks - Sleep Nude/Servo Change Appearance on: April 01, 2007, 02:41:43 am
Hey Squinge,

I was playing Seasons tonight and noticed that my option to Sleep Nude was missing. I'm using Preifor's Sleep Nude hack from Sexy Sims 2.

I downloaded the conflict detection utility from simwardrobe and it said that it was conflicting with your newest version of the ServoChangeAppearancePack.

I removed your hack and my Sleep Nude option showed up again.

Here's an excerpt from the utility report log:

*** POSSIBLE CONFLICT DETECTED ***

Not every single cheat will work on a startup basis... Some things, for example, 'aging on/off' HAVE to be entered on a per lot basis, so those wouldn't work, I would assume. The same would go for the cheats that allow you to control the pets... I would suppose those would have to be typed in each time too.

Here's what I use and what works every time:

boolprop allow45degreeangleofrotation true
boolprop testingcheatsenabled true
userShaders true
intProp maxNumOfVisitingSims 8

Those are what I have in my userStartup.cheat and they all work fine every time I play.
56  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Problems with Fish and other Seasons actions on: March 20, 2007, 10:18:49 pm
You can probably just create one and it'll work fine. Just right-click in the config folder and choose 'New' and create a Text Document named 'userStartup'.

Go ahead and write what cheats you want in it, such as the use shaders code.

After you save and close it, just use the tutorial that I placed in my last post before this one to change the .txt file to a .cheat file. Smiley It should work fine then.

Most people had the userStartup.cheat file added to their config folder if they downloaded the earlier remove censor cheat, which was included in the original Sims 2 and Uni. EP, so not everyone has it by default.

NOTE: Out of curiosity, keep me informed so I know whether my tutorials have helped you guys. Wink

Here's how to change your file back to the proper extension:

01 - Double-click 'My Computer' and then click on 'Tools'

02 - Click on 'Folder Options' and then click on 'View'

03 - You'll see an option that says 'Hide extensions for known file types' with a check. REMOVE the check and click 'Apply'

04 - Now in your Sims 2\config folder, the file will show up as 'userStartup.txt'

05 - Right-click, choose 'Rename' and change the ending from .txt to .cheat

06 - A window will pop up asking you to confirm the change. It will give a warning about it possibly becoming unusable, but it will be fine. Just click 'Yes'. You'll see that the file type has changed from a .txt file back to the .cheat format.

07 - Go back to 'My Computer' \ 'Tools' \ 'Folder Options' \ 'View' and checkmark the hide known extensions box again.

08 - Hit 'Apply' and you're finished! Cheesy

Thanks for all of your great work! And, for updating this too. Wink
59  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / how do u get these... on: March 19, 2007, 05:05:36 pm
Also, if you need to know HOW to get each creature, you can become a vampire by meeting the Count or Contessa from Downtown (Nightlife) and becoming friends with them.

You meet a special wolf, The Leader of the Pack (Pets), and if he nibbles your sim's hand, they'll become a werewolf.

Go into 'My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Config'

You should see a file labeled as userStartup.cheat.

If you're using Windows XP, double-click it and it will try to open.

Choose 'Select a program from a list' and then choose 'Notepad'.

At the bottom of this window, where it has a checkmark and it says "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file." UNCHECK IT. This is a safety precaution to make sure that the file stays labeled as a .cheat file.

Once it opens as a Notepad file, add the line:

boolprop useshaders true

Then, save and close it. When you next start your game, the code will already be activated and you don't have to worry about it. ;-)
