2  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Beach lot sunbathing towel shadow. on: August 26, 2010, 12:40:15 pm
It was a problem in BV.  Don't remember if a patch fixed it though.  I use Pescado's lot debugger to clear things like that.  There might be other mods that fix it also.
3  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Re: Petition For New Sims2 EP on: July 27, 2010, 01:38:58 am
I don't sign on-line petition since the last one to EA was hacked and 600+ signers(myself included) were accused of pirating pay files.

While it sounds good on paper, a new EP won't be made.  The game engine and computers can handle much more.

Scroll down the main forum page.  It's about half way down.  It's no longer supported since the creator did his traitorous act. Mad  A bit of advice, I wouldn't ask anymore questions about it.

The Sim Blender at Simbology is almost the same and is supported by the creator Two Jeffs.  Google for his site if you're interested.
5  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: BREAKING NEWS: TSR INSTALLS SPYWARE ON YOUR COMPUTER! on: August 06, 2009, 12:36:57 am
All I was addressing was the security issues with the TSR tool.  While I believe the things I have heard about TSR and firmly believe they are not to be trusted, all the testing addressed was the tool itself.  Prism in no way helped them fix the issues, simply tested it before and after for security issues.  It will continue to be tested.

The other issues with TSR need to be brought to the authorities.  I'm sorry your private site was threatened.

More like, "They got busted, so they changed the hiding method".

The tool was very poorly programmed according to my source.  You are giving TSR's programmers to much credit that they actually know what they are doing and could hide something in the code.

Would I ever use TSR's tool, no.  I like dealing with reputable sites.

The latest version of the tool comes up clean.  The previous version was tested and threw AV warnings.  This is hard to type(no love for TSR), but TSR did seem to respond to the test results and had a fix about 24hrs later.

If I had Sims 3 would still use Delphy's instead of TSR.

I have no love of EA, but I do have to correct some misinformation.  The Sims2 EADM software does not contain SecuROM.  This was tested by several people I know.  The EADM is a bear to get uninstalled though.  Updates to existing SecuROM files can come through the EADM, but the EADM itself is clean.  Would I install it, heck no.  It causes other problems for people.

For me, the deal breaker is if 3rd party mods/meshes/textures cannot be imported.  A vanilla sims game does not appeal to me.  After all I have 2 different Downloads folder that each have around 7gbs of custom content. Rock

I'm no authority on pirating a game(have never done it), but I think you are getting EA's digital download(which will have securom) mixed up with what the torrents sites have up.  What the torrent sites have is a copy of a physical disc, that they ripped the files off of  and then uploaded.  The files haven't been cleaned yet.

Of course I could be totally wrong on how it works.   Grin

The SimMasters were all let go a couple of months ago.  Betty Newbie has a link in her siggy that takes you to a post on another forum.  The BBS is moderated by the Maxoids, so a lot of stuff doesn't get caught and none are around on weekends.  Has been quite entertaining.  I love flagging. YAY
11  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Re: What exactly is SC4? on: May 07, 2009, 02:48:59 am
Sim City 4 is a simulation game.  The purpose of the game is to build a successful city and watch it grow.  I love the micromanagement of the Sim City games.  And the ep Rush hour made it so you could drive the streets of your city.  One of the side benefits from the game was that new terrains/hoods could be made for the Sims 2 game.

I found this tutorial, have no idea if it is any good. http://thesims2.ea.com/help/detail.php?help_id=91  and another tutorial http://compsimgames.about.com/cs/thesims2/qt/simcityterrian.htm
12  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: riverview? on: May 02, 2009, 10:20:03 pm
You will have to register your game, install the EADM and the Sims3 store.  The new neighborhood will be free.  Available through the Sims 3 store.

My problem is having to use the EADM and the Sims 3 store.  If it's as borked as the Sims2 one was, then good luck running your game.

Don't want.  tongue

This is site explains what securom is for us non-techie people.  http://reclaimyourgame.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=42&Itemid=6

On the BBS this simmer gives a very eloquent explaination of it http://bbs.thesims2.ea.com/community/bbs/messages.php?threadID=e3e857ab7b70f8783ec712dd60cbf650&directoryID=21&startRow=1&openItemID=item.21,root.1,item.61,item.104,item.41,item.127,item.23#adbe8779d73df215f96d01631507b109
14  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Re: BE AWARE! What TSR *really* do with your account details... on: March 31, 2009, 12:41:21 am
Yep in this very thread, but I think the poster just mis-spoke.

After that I have one additional reason to love the Booty and all those people who steal from the thieves.

As for EAxis, they are a bunch of hypocrites, but hey! We already knew that, didn't we? So, boycott is the answer. Enough is enough. I am fed up first with their SuckuRom, and now with their friendship with those despicable low-lives, TSR.

EAxis is not getting any more money from me. Period!

Here's what I know.  The only way you will be able to patch Sims 3 is through the EADM.  The EADM will come with the game and most likely install with the game.  http://bbs.thesims2.ea.com/community/bbs/messages.php?threadID=3fa84c056ba3d222452c84eefbc6101c&directoryID=225&startRow=1&openItemID=item.225,item.43,item.61,item.104,item.41,item.127,item.23

Also, while they said the disc version will not have secuRom, the digital download will. http://bbs.thesims2.ea.com/community/bbs/messages.php?threadID=e035262b417737430098736c165c7f1f&directoryID=225&startRow=1&openItemID=item.225,item.43,item.61,item.104,item.41,item.127,item.23
