16  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: So I spoke with an employee of EA Sims 3 team today.. on: March 14, 2010, 07:40:43 am
It would be interesting to see some figures on how many sims3 players have reverted back to playing sims2. I for one will never purchase the thing. There are several reasons for that. Ist., it's not really the sims, I don't know what it is but it's not the sims. The heavy wording of the sims3 EULA. That bloody store thing. The but ugly figures. Finally the rumored association with those weasels at TSR.
As said long ago. They could have made a killing if they had of upgraded the sims2 into 3 instead of this abomination and to hell with the system requirements. Instead they allowed that egotistical idiot Humble have his way.
Going back to those figures on how many are reverting back to sims2, I use the number of new creations I see posted on the various sites. The sims2 exchange is just one such example. When the game was first released it died right down to a mere trickle, now there's a flood of new creations. Surely that hasn't gone unnoticed by EA.

As I said, a pigs into poodles, that's why I still play Sims2 and there still many great custom creations out there.

He made EA. happy. They're all on medication and recreational drugs now to help cheer them up after watching the Sims popularity graph go south.
"It's only the economic downturn" Screams Humble at the crisis meeting as the members swallow another handful of pills.

That's the thing, Maxis didn't make Sims 3. EA was in complete control over the whole thing.
I personally like Maxis a lot, Sim City, Spore, and obviously The Sims, are all made by them. But Maxis had no part in Sims 3.

If anyone's conning, It's EA. But what else is new?  Grin
EA. of course, and let's not forget the creative genius of Rod Humble. (laugh)
Says a lot for a game when it takes the creative talent of the modders/hackers to make the game semi playable. It's good to see that it took a consumer backlash to galvanise those twerps into action. One wonders what their spiel will be this time? "The game is a phenomenal success, blah blah and we are gonna make it even better blah blah" I can hardly wait to see if EA. can turn a pig into a poodle.

I know what I've got because it isn't gone. There's no way that Maxis can con me into buying that other tripe unless they do a total rebuild of those puddings and make them look as or even more attractive than the characters in Sims2.

22  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Sims 3 for Xmas, already back to Sims 2... :[ on: January 07, 2010, 01:04:57 pm
The game was written for direct x 9c I believe. We now have dx10 and soon dx11. I wonder if EA. are going to do catch up and write future EPs. for the newer formats? If they do then it would be interesting to see if the future EPs. affect the original base game written prior to the latest direct x releases. Food for thought there.
Back to the original discussion, the male sims look good, but the females, oh dear.

Still playing Sims2 myself. I keep checking the custom creations on various sites, and for me personally they are still pig ugly. Unlike the transition from Sims to Sims2, there's very little there that appeals to me. Perhaps EA. will improve the characters one day so as to entice those that still haven't moved on.

The insimadult site is clean, (no pun intended) however the links to the site on google are not what they state, Clicking on insimadult org. gave me something that was not insimadult, I certainly didn't stick around to see what it was. The login link in google was the correct one.

Fine, I don't want any of our members to go through the crap I went through.

It was the .net site that gave me the problem. I don't play the game very much any more so one looses touch with what is what. I run Avira with Zonealarm as a firewall and Spybot to sort out what's left. Normally if a site is dirty Avira will have a fit but this little beast just came on in and as said, once it starts there's no stopping it.
Once it has your pc. your desktop is replaced by a blue screen and all quick launch icons are gone. Every attempt to remove the thing just results in the Blue screen of death, booting into the safe mode also doesn't work.
I suspect the origins of this thing are somewhere in Facebook because for some time now I keep getting a little thing called ADSPY which is easily dealt with, but I suspect it is the key that Security Tool used to access my pc.
My warning is that Security Tool is very difficult to be detected by the mainstream antivirus programs because it isn't a virus as such. For a more detailed explanation on the horrors about this thing I recommend those with concerns look it up on the net, it's quite frightening.
And no, you don't need to go into porn or bittorrent sites to pick this thing up,it masks itself as one of the dozens of malware/spyware tools on the net.

In Google I have several links to ISA. The first is Insimadult org. which is now nothing but garbage, tried the second one I think, which immediately downloaded the Security Tool super spyware.
I recently installed Google chrome which I use to access the Zynga online games on facebook, however I still use IE. for my other updates.
I know facebook is ripe with keyloggers and such so I always do a sweep to clean up the garbage when I finish.
It is possible that Security Tool randomly picks links as a host. What is frightening is that my av. gave me no warning that the link was dirty, and the thing immediately installed itself without a murmur from my firewall. Once in the thing constantly checks for trojans , worms etc. and will not allow you to run any applications. However it still let me use IE. I think the purpose of that is so that you download a cure that requires you use your credit card to get the full version, the cerdit card number is the aim of the game.
I was lucky that after six hours of trying everything I found Malwarebytes Anti-Malware which got rid of it.
The purpose of this post is to alert all my fellow simmers about this piece of crap but more importantly, how to get rid of it, and not to buy things like Spyware Doctor because that's the whole point of the exercise, to get your financial details, if you uninstall it, so what, it has your credit card number.

First time in weeks, clicked on insimadult as I have done for the last couple of years and wham, Security Tool is installing itself. Could not stop it, by the time I turned the pc. of in the wall it was to late.
My desktop had disappeared, and just a continual phony malware scan was going on, using my antivirus just caused the pc. to crash.
Trying to repair in the safe mode was a waste of time. This is one seriously nasty bit of gear, and as I said it was by pure luck that I found Malwarebytes Antimalware which at this point is one of the very few programs that will rid your pc. of this trash.

The adult sister of this site is now host to the Security Tool virus, took 6 hours to rid my pc. of the thing.
You need to download and run Malwarebytes Antimalware, it's the only thing that works.
If I posted this in the wrong place, tough, this is very important. sa is very important
30  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: I'm I the only one who would rather just keep playing sims 2. on: August 13, 2009, 06:14:29 pm
Debt of gratitude from that lot? recently they shut down a site for being silly enough to allow one of their members to provide a link to one of their scabby store items.
The only interest those fleas at EA. have is dollars, and there appears to be no limit to the depth they are prepared to stoop in order to ensure they squeeze every last cent out of us.
That incident was the last straw for me. I will not purchase anything anymore with their logo on it.
And yes I will continue to play sims2.
