wow haven't i opened a can of worms, for the beter i hope, interesting about tsr, i had need some time ago to go to tsr and download a mesh a free one, i actually followed a thread in modthe sims2, and my spyware detector almost had a nervouse breakdown and the same happened when i visited xxxsims, strange isn't it? going back to the original i fail to understand how a paysite can impose so called conditions of download when in most cases the skins are recolours of maxis meshes, i don't wish to see the sites destroyed i just want to see them join the mainstream and go free, well perhaps not all, some should just die a natural death i wont mention them but most of you know the ones i'm refering to.it was also sad to see some very talented artists withdraw their uploads and go to paysites, i certainly wont name them on this site but those of you who have been around a while know who i'm talking about
but let's put the original debate into context i asked why paysite meshes wern't included and the reply i recieved was quiet simple and straight to the point, i can't argue with that, however what i will question is why a lot of uploads are pictured in hair and clothing from paysites when those items are not available from this site, i had the same debate on modthe sims2 and thankfully that practice has now come to a halt. not all of us have access to these sites where the clothes and hair are available. so if they aren't included in the downloads lets not picture them so as to infer that they are, not every one out there reads the fine print or are savy enough to realise by the file size that what they are actually downloading is in reality a maxis default with a nice face, so please all i'm asking is if it can't be included lets not advertise it.
on a final note if custom is included let's only picture that and not what the artist has the sim decked out in in their game.yes yes i know they're for ilustration purposes only we had the same argument on modthe sims 2 and it didn't wash.

ok eric at the risk of being banned from this site i will remind you that sites that charge money or demand membership fees to download their creations are technicly illegal, because as stated earlier the sims and any mods or alterations made to the game remain the exclusive property of maxis at ea games, they supply freely the tools to modify and create meshes and animations, and for any site or individual who charges money for any alterations to the game "sims 2" is is in breach or their download conditions, so by abiding by the illegal conditions set by the pay sites you are also technicly breaking the law, i realy can't put it any simpler than this, its free sites such as this and mod the sims 2 that made the game what it is today, just imagine if i were to dress up my copy of microsoft office 1997 modify it a bit write a couple of macros and put it up for sale, how long do you think before the authorities come pounding on my door?well there is realy not much diference between that and charging money for maxis alterations, however as you stated it's your site and you reserve the right to what can and cannot be uploaded, all i ask is that you respect my view on this subject as i respect your view and allow others to voice their opinions and please dont lock any thread that is critical of pay sites as they did in sexy sims2.

by all accounts the downloads on this site are fantistic to say the least, however i am puzzled by the recuctance of some uploaders to include the meshes that the downloads are pictured with, ist his still a result of misguided so called coppyright conditions? if so let me enlighten you a bit, in short when you install the sims game there is a proviso that you must agree to before you can download the game, basicly what it states is that the sims and any modifications that you make to the game be it meshes, hacks, mods, remain the property of maxis and may be used for personal use in the game and may not be put up for sale. they remain the exclusive property of maxis, so next time you download a mesh or skin and it states that you must not redistribute the former without the creators permision do it anyway and remind them of maxis terms and conbitions, be it peggy or simchic or whoever they are ablolutely forbiden to impose anny condition or charge on any of their creations, so come on all you wonderfully talented artists start including the meshes they're are all freely available on the exchange and it's an oficial sims site surely that has to give you a clue.

i know that, so why is she showcased with those items? i believe mts2 has put an end to downloads that are showcased with items from paysites but not included with the download. i think its called advertising, i have all the pictured items, but there are a lot of people out there who don't so why confuse them. please i do not have a problem with the actual sim she realy is something and a credit to yourself, it is the presentation that bothers me, and not only this one but lots others that get up my nose, it's the same as flogging of an old car, take a photo, dress it up with a custom paint job etc. in paint shop pro  or similar, posting it and then apoligising later saying it was for ilustration purposes only. please i can't make it any clearer than that.

if hair and dress are not included then could you please include a picture of what she realy looks like so that i can find her among the thumbnails,i know what you see aint realy what your gonna get but picturing these creations in exotic costumes and hair meshes that you are not able to include is getting way out of hand so can we please just picture what we are going to download and not what she can jook like in the game, by the way she realy is lovely.

what the hell have maxis done,never have i had so much trouble installing a game and then trying to get the stupid thing to run and when it did it kept crashing. if this is the way of the future i wont be buying any more expansion packs,
