1  Resident Creators / EP4 Mods / More Family Members New Version Available(1/07/07) on: October 24, 2006, 05:10:03 pm
I'm curious, has anyone actually gotten the 12 person version to work? Because I think the total household limit is 10...

2  Resident Creators / Squinge's Mods / Sit on Floor to Watch TV on: July 05, 2006, 04:14:32 pm
Hey Squinge,

This is great so far but... is it possible to make it so sims don't route to directly in frount of couches? Can you make them choose spaces off to the side, or at least one tile past the opening tiles to couches and chairs.

I had an instance where, one sim was sitting down in the only living chair, which only had one tile between it and the TV. As a result, a second sim came along and plopped herself right on that tile. I thought, neat! Now they can both watch tv. Cheesy

Well... when I wasn't looking, the sim in the chair somehow managed to sneak out and a 3rd sim came along to try to use the chair. Well... the sim sitting on the floor was now blocking the way. I know I could easily cancel the sim out and what not, but I was just wondering, since you're hack is making them route to find a space to sit, can you make it route to tiles that do not block other objects, namely chairs and sofas/couches? I guess it didn't block the sim from escaping, but it apparently blocks entry.

Just curious how this works... a few questions:

1) Will sims still search for seats first before using the floor?

2) Is there a limit to how many sims can sit on the floor, or is the limit only dependent on the space you have in the room?

3) Is this permitted through 'joining' other sims? i.e. if the couch is full, and I ask other sims to join, will they try to find a spot on the floor? or... if the couch is full and I order my standing sim to join them... will s/he try and find a spot on the floor?

Great idea btw. Next thing would be to allow hacks sitting at other angles to watch the tv. It seems silly that... sims will have conversations with other sims, like say...when eating, even if they are back to back/behind each other... or even in another room. And yet... they all must face the TV directly just to watch it. Stupid sims. Tongue

Thanks. Smiley

4  Resident Creators / EP3 Mods / EP3 required: DJ Booth Teen Fix on: June 28, 2006, 02:25:49 pm
Yes. I happened to have posted it first. And thanks for all your concern everyone, but Squinge, MissDoh, and nectere are right. It is all pure coincidence. I just noticed nectere's post (on MATY) the other day, and thought to myself... self... I said... self... this should be pretty easy to fix. So self and I, bored as we were, decided to tackle this. I poked around SimPE, ticked off the wrong box (it was set for toddlers) and ticked on the right box (for teens), and there you have it. A simple fix. Smiley

I did not realize Squinge was going to make a fix himself. And I only noticed this afterwards. The file size is the same because it's essentially the same file. Tongue Just the TTAB for the business employee dining (semi)global interactions. The only difference I saw was that he also checked 'demo child' which I'm not sure what that does anyways. :dontknow:

Anyhew... if I had seen in advance that Squinge was going to make a fix for this, I definitely wouldn't have made mine. I usually feel that modders don't really need to duplicate work. But hey, I already posted it, and since people downloaded it, I feel obligated to keep it up and support it. You obviously only need one, as they both do the exact same thing.

No worries, no drama please. At least not on account of little ole' me. Unless I'm intentionally stirring up drama. Hehe. Cheesy

5  Resident Creators / EP3 Mods / Teen & Gender Preference Adoption Hack New EP3 Versions Available(7/02/06) on: June 28, 2006, 08:42:07 am
Ahhh. OK. whew! Someone really confused me then. Thank you for explaining that! It's the teleporter that has problems with memories, not the adoption hack. That's good, because I'm not using the teleporter anyways. So I guess I don't have to worry about that problem. Tongue

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear about what I was asking in the first place. I was just all confused about what I was told and what I read here, so I figure I might as well come straight to the source before jumping to conclusions.

Thanks for the explanation! Cheers!

It was fixed in a previous version of the teleporter shrub but then that created a new bug so I had to remove that fix.

Ahh... ok. So... just to be absolutely clear... with your hack, only one parent gets the memory for adoption?

But, without your hack, both parents, if they are married/joined, correctly get the memory of adoption? In other words, normal game behaviour has both parents would/should get the memory of adoption. But using your hack changes this... :Huh?:

Sorry if I'm just reiterating stuff I've asked before. I just want to be absolutely sure I understand this correctly. That it wasn't a bug in the game before. That it only happens with this hack. And that it can't be fixed, because as you say, when you tried, it caused some other bug.

Thanks again. Smiley

6/15/06 Fixed the adoption memory only one parent gets the adoption memory it will not work for both.

I hope you don't mind if I ask for further elaboration. I was informed that there is an issue where, if a married/joined couple adopts a child, only one sim gets the memory of adoption, presumably the one who does the calling.

Now the above seems like it addresses this problem... but I was told that testing done after the 15th has shown that the problem still persists. So... now I am confused as to what this is saying. Has the problem been fixed or not? :eh:

Can someone who has had experience with this clearly state:

1) What the exact problem is? I think it is that only one parent still gets the memory.

2) Whether this has actually been fixed or not? The above quote seems like it is saying that it was fixed... but now I'm confused. It also says at the end 'it will not work for both' - does this mean that it is impossible to fix? Or is this supposed to be stating what the problem was and that it is actually supposed to be fixed now.

I'm really confused right now. :brain:

Any help on clarifying the situation would be greatly appreciated. Smiley

Just curious, because I hadn't noticed this yet, but does this euro kiss cause jealousy? Or is it still a platonic kiss?

Ste - did you check on the neighbourhood lot info screen? That's where mine are missing. They are all present and correct when I go into the lot. It could be that they were missing even before I installed this mod, but I only noticed it after installing because I was checking on aspirations.

I'm going to put back the old files and reload the game, just to see if they are there. Then I'll redownload the mod files from here this time (I used those at MTS2) and see if it makes any difference.

Edit: Oh dear...no icons on the original program files either! It is the BFVOS after all! Time to detox my pc with the equivalent of a colonic irrigation - yep... a manual uninstall!

Update: Ew... I did reinstall and I discovered that the Pleasure Sim icon only appears in the Maxis base neighbourhoods - not my custom neighbourhood. It's not related to the Downloads folder - I removed it completely in both cases. Is it just my game that's doing this?

Just wanted to reply to this as I hadn't checked back in a while...

...by now, it seems you figured out it was a different problem. I did check in the neighborhood view, and my icons were still there, but yes this was a Maxis base hood (Pleasantview). I don't have any custom hoods, so I haven't had a chance to look at this. I will try and check this a little later on my test account to see if a custom hood has problems. But I would still doubt that it would be related to this particular hack, as this hack really shouldn't edit or affect icons. :dontknow:

As for being compatible with the new patches, I imagine they should be. I just installed FFS on my sister's machine and patched. I checked the timestamps of the packages in the Wants folder, and although they do have a different date than OFB, I don't think the size changed significantly. I can't imagine they would have added anything to change wants between OFB and FFS, since FFS is supposed to only be a 'shopping pack' anyways. rolleyes I would say that this hack should pretty much be safe for patched OFB And FFS games. Smiley

Hopefully, with the next shopping pack, it won't be a problem either. It probably won't be an issue really until the next EP/Petz this fall. Because they will most likely edit the Wants packages, and then this mod might need to be updated due to possible instance and GUID changes.

Ste

PS. I just wanted to say, even though it's great to thank me, I didn't do any of the work really. I merely was just a second pair of eyes to help suss out a silly, minor thing. Give credit where credit is due, which is all to Squinge. He made this wonderful hack possible and it is a shame that Maxis still won't consider updating this since it would be very easy.

I just thought I'd mention that, for anyone who was using the TeenSmallBusinessCareer to fix working hours for teens, even though this was fixed with the 2nd patch, there are some minor bugs.

Pescado has actually updated his harderjobs hack to fix this. He even made a package so that you can use the fix without the harder jobs part. You can find it here. I was remiss in my other post, but that thread is closed so I couldn't edit it. Hee hee. Sorry. Smiley

Just thought that I would report, I did a quick check in a household that had a pleasure sim (so far, I only have one in my neighborhood), and the icon was fine. *shrugs* I don't know what could cause that problem other than possibly an impending sign of an approaching BFBFVS or maybe a graphical problem? :dontknow:

Yes.  All the other icons are there - Family, Knowledge etc, but not Pleasure.

Hrm I haven't noticed this yet. I will check soon. I have one household that has tons of sims with different aspirations, including Pleasure.

That would be a strange glitch tho. I'm assuming that it went away when you removed the changes and put back your backed up files?

14  Resident Creators / EP2 Mods / EP2 required in testing:Aging enabled for townie & visiting sims on: June 03, 2006, 09:58:56 pm
I'm curious. I assume this means townies and visiting sims (other PCs from other playable households) will all age whenever the time hits 6:00 PM?

So this means that townies will only age while they are on a lot and they stay long enough for that time change, yes?

Also, does the aging stick for PCs, if you go to their household? i.e. if they age on one lot while visiting, does that change stick with them when you head back to their household? So... potentially the aging would be out of sync with the rest of the sims in that household?

Will townies age transition on residential lots while passing by or visiting? Will sims still age on comm lots? And if so, will sims age transition on comm lots?

Just curious. Thanks. Smiley

15  Resident Creators / EP1 Mods / Artist Career LTW Fixed!!! on: May 21, 2006, 06:15:22 pm
Hi Squinge and everyone :hello2:

I thought it would be faster for me to post this here rather than email you. I hope you don't mind Squinge. Especially since things were done in a similar way when you were collaborating with jase on the breast feeding hack. Smiley

After a few days of testing, staring at the code for a loooooooooooooooooong time, and going a little bit crazy :hammer: I managed to find out the teeny tiny mistake. Whew.

It is pretty easy to miss, but what happened was, in the 'CT - Add Memory' BHAV from the MemoryVisionary.package file, there was a single typo. I should have seen this right away, since the error log even points to that line. You had:

[prim 0x007C] Want Satisfy (GUID 0x8E9560DB, Want target: Param 0x0001, (optional) Want level: Literal 0x000A)

instead of

[prim 0x007C] Want Satisfy (GUID 0x8E9560D8, Want target: Param 0x0001, (optional) Want level: Literal 0x000A)

A simple mistake, but I can totally understand how it was missed. I stared at it for a long time, and flipping back and forth between the Wants.package, the WantsTuning.package, and the MemoryVisionary.package I did not see it with my own eyes. :tongue3: It wasn't until I went to the trouble of physically copying the text from one and pasting it manually into the other files that I finally noticed the slight difference. Silly me. In all fairness, the 'B' is so similar to an '8' if you just glance at it.

Anyways, we can finaly :party1: because all 4 Uni LTWs have been enabled! Yay! Thank you so much Squinge for figuring all of this out. I greatly appreciate it. My game totally needs more variety. Core files or not, this is sorely needed. At least until Maxis wakes up and fixes it themselves. But I won't hold my breath. Tongue

Anyways, I will attach the new zip file here, complete with the Wants.package, WantsTuning.package and the four memories - MemoryEcologicalGuru.package, MemoryParanormal.package, MemoryShowbiz.package, and MemoryVisionary.package as well as updated versions of the RTFMs. I will also attach before and after pics captured from in game showing the LTW being fulfilled.

And I'll leave it up to Squinge to move the file up to the first post where it belongs. Smiley
