As long as your sims don't mind, you can give them whatever weird names you wish. Smiley

The download is still valid. Something must be incorrect on your system with the program with which you are trying to open the rar file.

Go here http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?PHPSESSID=069d061be8313ba3b7b17c81d60f4549&topic=7.0. Choose the "Official Stuff - Apartment Life" entry, then choose "hacks" and download the marriage-postmortum.zip file.

MATY and Pescado have numerous corrections to broken or stupid actions in the game. You may even find some other fixes there that you've been wishing for.

This sounds like you might want JMP's "marriage post-mortum" fix from MATY (More Awesome Than You).
If you download, make sure you get the one for your Expansion Pack level.

Here's what the fix "readMe" file says...

FIXES:
The marriage "spouse" line is no longer automatically disconnected after death.
The surviving partner may remarry as usual, which will correctly connect the
line to the new partner and disconnect the old one, but unless the survivor
remarries, when he dies, their marriage line will still show as connected on the
family tree, like those of the deceased Maxian families.

111  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: Bodybuilder girl meshes on: December 28, 2009, 11:41:16 am
Over on Back Alley Sims, VanityDeMise has created some new BBGirl meshes (alpha dress with two different heels and fat/preg morphs as well as a tall booted mesh). She's also developed a bunch of BBTeen meshes.
112  Simmers' Paradise / FreeTime Help / Application has crashed message since installing freetime on: August 19, 2008, 05:48:23 pm
You have one or more corrupted or incompatible files in your downloads folder since you didn't get the crash when you played without the downloads folder.

If you want to identify the file(s) causing the problem and only delete those (not all 32 character unnamed files are "bad"), then you need to take a systematic approach to find them. I've got 25,000+ files in my download folder and have had to do this several times.

Just remember, while doing this without all of your files in the downloads folder to NOT SAVE the game when exiting when the game doesn't crash.

As others have recommended, take half your downloads and move them out to a different folder - call it "suspect01" or something. Run the game, see if it crashes. If no crash, then move the files in your downloads folder to a folder on your desktop called "checked01" ("checkedxx" files being files which didn't cause the game to crash). If it did crash, take half of the original files and move them into "suspect02" and try again with the files still in the downloads folder.

Keep taking half of your "suspect" files and try the game with just them in downloads. (By keeping the "checkedxx" files out of downloads once you know they work, you reduce the loading time of the game.)

It's a long process, but it keeps you from deleting files that are valid files and may contain content you want. If you eventually try every "suspectxx" folder - even after you identify the first file causing a crash, you will find other corrupt files if you have more than one.

It is slightly possible that it a conflict between two files in your downloads folder causing the crash but let's hope that's not the problem -- that is even more difficult and time-consuming to identify (and is rarely the case).

Good Luck!

114  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Body shop not opening? on: July 25, 2008, 11:02:54 pm
Whenever that happens to me, I find that deleting the groups.cache out of The Sims2 folder takes care of it and allows BodyShop to start running again.

In the Cinematic menu, under both the "Marry" and "Propose" animations for any of the "Accept" animations, I am receiving "Error: lK target animation cannot find bone on other object". (Base game and all EPs thru Seasons.)

Any hope for getting those to work? If not, do you know of a mod/hack which does have animations for Marry and Propose working?

Thank you for both of your paintings - I've used them innumerable times with good success.

Bloom, Great outfit! Thanks.

Any hope for a hardhat for that construction guy? Yellow or gray perhaps? Just a wish.

120  Retired Creators / Others / problem? on: December 29, 2007, 04:44:43 pm
I was looking at making a recolor of the PVC 36 waist (used the white one) and exported it in body shop. When I edited the bottom_alpha3~stdMatBaseTextureName_alpha, it didn't change anything. I even blacked out that entire file, and yet the entire alpha3 base texture (the whole pant bottom) still shows. I even blacked out all three alpha files and still the entire pant texture shows.

The EnvCube texture and alpha work okay for the PVC shine and the bottom texture and alpha work for the shoes, but it doesn't appear that the bottom_alpha3 alpha file controls the texture displayed for the pants. Am I missing something?

I'll try another size and see if I run into the same situation. Thanks.

edit: I tried the 32 waist pink and the 34 waist black. Same issue. I wanted to lower the waist for more of a hip-hugger pant, but can't seem to do that.
