46  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Re: Wedding ring stuck on unmarried Sims' finger on: December 15, 2017, 11:14:49 am
It sounds as though the game thinks that your Sim is still married to their former spouse. If that's the case, then removing the married flag should result in removal of the wedding ring.

If you use the Insimenator, I believe its relations changer allows you to set marital status. Or you may be able to use SimPE to edit the Sim Relations between the Sim and their former spouse to be unmarried.

After all these years, I've never noticed the "MilkTo" typo. And I didn't notice it in Hammie's picture either. THANKS Theraven! Hopefully that's all the problem Hammie was/is having with it. I was thinking they were experiencing an actual problem with the Smart Milk itself.

Amin is a random toddler I put into the household. This pie menu happens in all households. I have a few more expansions to install and then I'll check if the tickle bug is still there. The installations weren't ever interrupted and the path goes to the right place.
I'm confused about the pie menu then. Since Amin is a toddler, then he can drink Smart Milk. So your Sim has the choice of either giving Amin the Smart Milk or throwing the Smart Milk away. What am I missing? What exactly is the problem there?

If the Sims, Families or Lots involved were carried forward from your old install to your new install, then the problem may be with those Sims, Families or Lots themselves and the reinstall could have no effect. If you can duplicate the problems with fresh families created after the reinstall, then something else is going on.

Do these problems happen only in one household? Or all households? How about in new households created after your new install?

Is Amin not a toddler? If not, then does it only happen with Amin or with other non-toddlers as well? If only with Amin, then my guess would be that somehow the game doesn't know what Amin's proper age is and perhaps if you force an error on him, you might clear up the issue. Is Amin a Sim from before or newly created since your new install?

As far as the missing tickle interaction goes, I'm at a loss since you say your game is mod free. Is the interaction available with new families created since the install? If it only occurs with families that you had before, once again I would suspect something happened prior to your new install which may have corrupted the character files of the Sims.

A quick Internet search yielded these two helpful links....

Bottom line appears to be it will go away if you move the affected family out and back.
There may be a way using the FFS Lot Debugger (Bat Box) but depending on how much is on the lot it could take a while to find and eliminate the right thing.

Well, it's not exactly broken. It's one of the notorious pseudo-dead Box links.... See the explanation on Simscave here: http://simscave.tumblr.com/post/127875057924/how-to-download-dead-box-links or on GOS here: http://digitalperversion.net/gardenofshadows/index.php?topic=33022.0

Try this alteration of the same Box link.... https://m.box.com/shared_item/https%3A%2F%2Fwww.box.com%2Fs%2Fsahlpokzov.

I successfully downloaded it using that.

56  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: Has anybody got this Cigarette? on: November 06, 2016, 09:55:01 am
Sims2?

It looks similar to one I have by Wren from the now defunct Sims2 site SpicySims. She made a dark cigarette (Wren's Smokin' Sim) and then a white recolor with filter (Wren's Smokin' Recolor). Both have a slight issue with the "lit" end where it protrudes from the shaft of the cigarette. I can't tell from your picture whether that one does as well.

Since those downloads are for Sims3, I assume you are wanting this for Sims3 as well?
58  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Re: Loading the game faster? THE SIMS 2 on: April 13, 2016, 09:40:26 am
24 GB takes 30 Minutes to load?Huh?
I have around 24.5 GB and it takes about an hour to an hour and a half. Please tell me what did you do to increase the loading time to 30 minutes.

Thanks

There's no magic bullet to improve load time. Reducing the size and number of files and/or getting better hardware are the only ways to significantly reduce the time it takes to get up and running.

Depending whether you are running from disk and what EPs & SPs you have or whether you are running Ultimate Collection from Origin, you may be able to remove 1-2 GBs of unnecessary files but many people aren't comfortable removing files provided by EA/Maxis and with more than 20GB of CC, doing that may only improve load time by perhaps 10% - more likely less than that.

Since TS2 was created long ago, there is now a hack to its executable (and BodyShop's executable) to allow it to use a greater than 2GB address space if your hardware allows it. Back at its creation, few computers supported that and as future EPs were added, the executable wasn't changed in order to keep the game backward compatible to those older computers. Using CFF Explorer to edit the game's startup executable to use a greater than 2GB address space again is not something most people are comfortable doing.

TS2 is a 32-bit application which means it cannot use anything more than 16GB of RAM (Random Access Memory) even if you are running a 64-bit computer with more than 16GB of memory. Faster (or more) CPUs process the load instructions faster. More or faster memory allows the computer to load with less overhead by the computer. Overhead comes into play because with 20GB of CC and a maximum of 16GB of memory, obviously all CC cannot be in memory at one time. So the computer loads it and if it can't stay in memory, pages or swaps it off to disk and creates a pointer to where on the disk the CC is now stored and keeps that pointer in memory instead.

Anyway, technical stuff aside the bottom line is ... reduce CC, get better hardware, or live with longer load times.

30 minutes for 24 GB sounds about right and is comparable to what it takes my game to start up with about the same amount of downloads.

TS2's load time is quite dependent on how much Custom Content you have. It loads every piece of CC into memory at startup. While there are some things that could be done such as removing some duplicate folders and language files for languages not used for your game, with that amount of custom content, those deletions won't make much difference in your load time.

A faster computer (faster processors) would load the content faster. Adding memory to your computer might cut down on the amount of paging the computer has to do to keep track of all the CC as it loads it and could also improve load time.

Since the game loads all CC at startup whether it will be used or not, you could go through your downloads folder and remove CC that you don't ever use - old skintones, makeup, clothing, etc to make your Downloads folder smaller and thus improve your load time. If you have particular themed neighborhoods that you play, you could separate out the CC used only in those hoods and only add them back to your Downloads folder when you know you'll be playing those hoods.

Personally, I start up the game and then do a few things around the house while I wait for it to load.
60  The Sims 4 / Sims 4 Buzz / Re: No Toddlers and No Pools in TS4 Base Game on: September 21, 2015, 05:15:19 pm
Pools became available as a free download a couple of months after TS4's release. So they are in the game now if you update online after you install.
