Selene is a fictional character from Underworld, Underworld: Evolution. She is the main protagonist in both films and is portrayed by Kate Beckinsale. Selene was born to a Hungarian family. Her father was a well-known blacksmith who helped design a fortress for a general named Viktor. The fortress was actually a dungeon intended for the imprisonment of the Werewolf, William Corvinus, condemned for his bloody and destructive behavior and to keep Vampire Elder Markus under Viktor's control. After Lycans purportedly killed her family, Selene was the only one left alive who had walked through the corridors of the fortress. However, she did not know that her family was slain by Viktor himself, and believed Viktor had saved her from the Lycans. Viktor only let her live because of resemblance to his deceased daughter. The night of her family's murder she was made into a vampire by Viktor. She became a Death Dealer, fighting against the Lycans for vengeance on the atrocities she believed they had committed against her family. She also exiled the Official Historian, Andreas Tanis, on Viktor's orders. Many years later (shortly before the events portrayed in Underworld) she became an object of romantic interest for Kraven, the Coven's regent, however she did not reciprocate his advances. She is proficient with many weapons, both medieval and modern. Modern firearms that she uses include the Walther P99 and a variety of automatic machine pistols. In both movies, she is seen jumping from a ledge at least 100 feet in the air and landing without injury. Lene Grawford Nystrøm Rasted (born Lene Grawford Nystrøm on October 2, 1973 in Tønsberg, Norway), popularly known as Lene Nystrøm, is a Norwegian singer-songwriter, who is best known as vocalist for the Danish dance-pop group Aqua. During her teenage years Lene developed an interest in performing and began her adult life as a barmaid and model. During the Aqua days she had homes in both United States and Denmark. The relationship between Lene Nystrom and Søren Rasted is rumored to be one of the many reasons Aqua disbanded in 2001. Lene married Søren on August 25, 2001. After the wedding, Lene moved to live permanently in Denmark. On November 6, 2004, she gave birth to a daughter, India. Buffy Anne Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is "the Slayer", one in a long line of young women chosen by fate to battle evil forces. This mystic calling endows her with dramatically increased physical strength, as well as endurance, agility, accelerated healing, intuition, and a limited degree of clairvoyance, usually in the form of prophetic dreams. Angel (David Boreanaz), a vampire over two hundred years old. Angel was known as Angelus during his rampages across Europe. He was cursed with a soul, which gave him a conscience and guilt for centuries of murder and torture. He left Buffy the Vampire Slayer at the end of Season Three to move to Los Angeles in search of redemption. Selina Kyle was a lonely, frustrated woman pushed over the edge into obsession and crime after her boss, tycoon Max Shreck, tried to kill her to keep her from revealing his plot to build a power plant that would steal Gotham's electricity. Mysteriously revived by alley cats after Shreck pushes her out a window, Selina Kyle's repressed rage allowed her to transform into the clever supervillainess Catwoman. Shortly following her transformation, she joined forces with The Penguin. As a masked figure operating under the guise of a theatrical public identity, Catwoman found a reflection of herself in Batman. In a ballroom masque, to Siouxsie & the Banshees' "Face to Face", the two masked crime fighters, Batman and Catwoman, dressed as their alter-egos, Bruce and Selina, discovered their dual personalities. Later,at The Penguin's hideout, Catwoman attacked Shreck in a rage, attempting to kill him once and for all. Although Shreck shot her several times with The Fat Clown's gun, she finally had her revenge, electrocuting Shreck by kissing him with a Taser in her mouth; Batman only found her whip, not her body. After Bruce found her cat, Miss Kitty, he drove away, wondering what had become of his girlfriend. Perched atop a rooftop nearby was Catwoman, who rose to look at the Batsignal in the sky. A couple years later, Dr. Chase Meridian revealed to Batman that she had learned of the attraction between himself and Catwoman, noting that he liked "strong women with skin-tight vinyl and a whip".
