clean the disk. test the dvd drive with another disk to make sure it works. then insert the cleaned disk. How are you starting it?  from a shortcut on the desktop?

wouldn't using a alien-colored default skin group make the townies and npcs alien-colored in a new neigborhood?

I have always wondered about this but always forget to ask. In build mode, those patio cover / awning things that you drag to cover a space - are they at all recolorable or clone-able? I hate the colors they are & almost never use them. If they could be recolored I might use them, even though I can't stand the stupid legs all over the place. Does anyone know if this is do-able or point me in the right direction?

do you mean you would make your sim in bodyshop then you want to transform it into a plantsim? so you can use potion like here: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=224969

if you mean create a real plantsim in bodyshop I do not know of a way to do this.
