1  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Announced: Sims 3 coming in 2009 on: March 28, 2008, 10:27:22 pm
I hadn't seen this announcement anywhere, so I thought I'd let folks know in case someone hadn't heard yet.  EA has officially announced that they will be releasing Sims 3 in 2009 with more customization and ability to explore one's neighborhood (such as visiting neighbors houses or walking down the street).

Anyway, here's the current website for info:

It can't be unique to "Pets" EP4.

I don't have it.

I have TS2, EP1, EP2, EP3, and EP5.  No pets allowed.

Hi all,

I wanted to post this and see if anyone had any ideas as to what's going on.  I was taking Warlokk's awesome Power Girl mesh and trying to add a few skintones.  I was following the skintone tutorial which really made everthing failrly simple.  I drew from both Inks71 dark skintone (absolutely gorgeous for my Indian style community) and the Garkman-Louis adaptations Dark, DarkTan, Tan, Medium, Lite, and Pale by Roofmonkey (very, very nice work!).  So now I have seven different skintones that all seem to work great . . .  except for one little problem . . .

When the girls wear jewelry, I get these blue squares instead.  Regardless of whether its an earring or a neclace or both, instead of the jewels, I get blue boxes (they appear to be 2-dimensional boxes) that hang from their ears (for earrings) and/or neck (for necklaces).  That seems to be the only issue.  All of the other "details" appear normal and in place.

The earrings and necklaces have worked on every other mesh I have ever used and I've never had this problem before.  So I don't know what's going on (and this has only happened with the Power Girl mess -- the other Warlokk meshs work fine).

Thanks!  I didn't know about the College Clock.  I'll check into that!

Great work!  This is the kind of mod I've been looking for.  Does it include a "re-roll" or "refresh" feature if the LTW isn't what you want for your sim?  Or even if your sim has a "mid-life crisis" and wants to change completely?
6  Retired Creators / Female Bodyshape Variety Project / Quick Question for anyone really on: April 30, 2006, 09:10:17 pm
I saw a pale skintone using Warlokk's 38DD Enhanced mesh (original project) over at MTS2.  I can't remember who put it together, but it was specifically designed for the Goth look.

I downloaded it and tried it.  Works well.

Wow!  Great job!  That is an excellent mesh.  You are very artistically gifted!! :B

Biggest gets my vote, too. And definitely enhanced over naturals. Cheesy

Whoa.  That was scary.  I actually understood what you were talking about (still rather new to the modding world).

One question for clarification, however, . . . if giving up bumpmaps would make your life easier, then what is so important about keeping them?  Is it for recolor ability later on?  Or is there some other reason for keeping bumpmaps? . . . just trying to understand the pros and cons of what you're facing. :dontknow:

And I can sympathize with exploding meshes. . . . :sad5:

That is good news, Warlokk.  And I agree, . . . something for later.  Don't overwork yourself.  You've got plenty on your plate as it is.

I do like your thinking . . . chilly, eh?  (ha, ha, ha) :thumbrig:
11  Retired Creators / Female Hi-Res Bodyshape Project / Blended Mesh: Is It Possible? on: March 18, 2006, 04:07:12 am
Warlokk,

While the populace of the world awaits with breathless anticipation in the slow, agonizing crawl of elapsing time for the triumphant Hi-Res Bodyshape Project to achieve absolute, unmitigated perfection . . .  I was wondering if you might spare a moment to answer a question.

Is it possible to create a blended mesh?  Here's what I mean:  The Hi-Res Bodyshape Project is about creating a three-dimensional effect for realism (i.e. nipples).  On some clothing meshes, they poke out.  I mean really poke out.  I mean, "they could put someone's eye out" type of poking out.  In real life, this phenomenon occurs when women choose not to wear a bra (well, it sometimes happens WITH a bra, but you get my point).  So is it possible to create a full-body mesh, blending with and without 3D nipple effects depending on the type of clothing being worn.  For example, for everyday and formal wear would not be poking out.  Some athletic, undergarments, and PJ wear would or would not.  But underwear and certainly "shower-wear" would.  Can that be incorporated into which mesh is accessed by the computer (so that even everyday clothing which did not use a separate clothing mesh would not be "poking out")?  Hence, a blended mesh?

I know there would be some folks who want just a Hi-Res mesh "poking out" in everything and some folks who want a Hi-Res mesh that never "pokes out".  So I was thinking about a blended version that incorprated this third option that does in some situations but not in others.  I suspect it won't work, but I figured I don't know enough to say, so I thought I'd ask.

Warlokk,

The ones I was trying to describe are in the base game.  As the catalog scrolls through the selections, they are close to the very back (but not the oriental ones in the very, very back).  The dresses are sleeveless, have a "v" neck, single color tops, and bell or triangular shaped bottom that is criss-crossed with a dark color on a lighter shade background.  Those are my top, personal choice. :love4:

Thank you for your promise of getting them done eventually (however long that is).   Its been frustrating to be able to do recolors, but not be able to do meshes.  Its official now -- I hate Milkshape. :angryfir:

Warlokk,

The model used in the screenshot is a nice dress, I was actually looking for something with a larger expansion at the knees and extended even further out at the ankles.  More triangular than cylindrical. :B

Star Ranger4,

Thanks for coming up with that description.  I was having a hard time thinking of the right words to communicate it. Smiley

Yes, the dresses in the Maxis collection have some good choices.  I've tended to be partial to the blue, black, and red ones towards the back of the original game formals (not the oriental ones, but the ones).  They have a kind of casual yet formal look.

But, to reply, yes, most definitely, that would be fantastic.  And yes, I can wait.  I KNOW you are really busy with the present project and that certainly takes priority.  I was just posting here under requests so that 1) you would know the thoughts of your fans Smiley and 2) if anyone had some spare time who wanted to contribute to the project, this was one area that such a generous individual could make that would be appreciated by at least one person.

Keep up the good work!
15  Retired Creators / BodyShape Requests / Flowing, Formal Dress on: March 13, 2006, 01:17:31 am
Since this is the request line, I would like to see a mesh of a formal dress that flows -- something with a little flare at the bottom -- soemthing that doesn't look like it makes ladies take tiny little steps, but has an elegant grace about it.

And most importantly, a mesh that is compatible with 38DD-28-34 size that I have come to appreciate so much! :love10:
