16  Simmers' Paradise / Anecdote Assistance / Re: D**N IT i have writers block. on: March 26, 2012, 07:29:52 am
Also, have you read through any other sims stories throughout the community, or even other fan fiction-esque genres? (Not just slap-stick or vague storytelling types, but those that go out of the way to describe what's going on so people can actually visualize while reading...) If not, you might want to try doing that as soon as you can. Try looking for some you may like in this section, and you might surprise yourself with the amount of inspiration you may get once you do. Sometimes it's good to look through and see what kind of formats people use when writing Sims stories, from the use of their pictures to how characters, settings, and other important elements are presented. Try to observe how well each writer shares their stories and what makes each story strong or weak.

Note that this doesn't mean you take specific subjects or themes from someone else's story and "borrow" them in order to draw more readers in. As it's been said before, you want to think about what it is you want to write about most of all, who your characters are along with their personalities/histories and how they interact with one another, and how to create a path to what direction you want your story to lead to concerning the subject matter at hand.  This may surely help you out some in order to get a better grasp on what everyone else has said before me. Wink

(Phew... yeah, curse you 5th grade writing SOL prep period for being stuck in my head all these years...)   DOH

#1:  Please do not hotlink other people's images.  It's not cool at all, and we don't condone that here. (That is, unless you happen to actually be the author of Lakeside Heights, since that's the sims story those pictures are from. Either way, to play on the safe side the images have been removed.)

#2:  That's a free Peggy hair recolor by evanesco at GoS. Smiley

Also as an important note, registration is required to view that site.

Zombies:  They may be cool oh Halloween, but they're quite the opposite when it comes to necromancing old topics that haven't been posted in for four yearsUndecided Next time, insimalove, please be sure to double check the dates before posting, just to make sure it's been recently active in the same year, or within a month's time. Smiley

Also, for future reference, please be sure to at least use capitals whenever necessary, as requested in the rules:

No leet/text speak - eg: Lets c whu cn m@ke teh most complic@ted l33t spek ev@rr is not acceptable. A lot of users here have English as a second language and have a hard enough time understanding as it is. To that end, please make an effort to use proper grammar and spelling. We don't expect everyone to have perfect textbook English, but the clearer you are, the better you will be understood, and the more response you'll get to help questions, or any post in general. We are not the grammar police here and understand typos happen and not everyone is a perfect speller, but if you're not using periods, commas, capital letters and a reasonable semblance of accurate spelling out of pure laziness, we will call you on it.

While we're on the subject of punctuation, etc, please do not type in all caps. It's bad forum etiquette and viewed as shouting.

No raising the dead - if the last post on a thread is older than a month and you would not be bringing any new information to the thread then do not post or you will be fed to the rabid munchkins!

*Moved this to Pudding WCIF*

From what I've looked at so far, there was a similar WCIF thread posted in November that eventually included all of the creator's remaining/available downloads, so that's a possible reason why the deletions of your threads happened. The title of that thread is kind of inconspicuous if you don't know the name of the creator, though, so a search on the site for that particular thread with the skin names would lead you nowhere.

Have you tried Googling "MCalero skins" to see what you get? From what I see, that's the person who made them.  Smiley

Look for "Sims Beauty" at the graveyard, and you should find what you're looking for.  (Mesh is in "simsbeauty_hair2a.rar " and "simsbeauty_softcurlhair.rar") Wink

25  Simmers' Paradise / Clothing & Body Mesh's / Re: ~ Girl only infant blankets ? on: December 01, 2011, 10:49:35 am
I hope it's OK that I just went ahead and did it.
Of course it's fine by me!  Grin I haven't had much time lately, since I have important projects and exams coming up, plus work and other family related matters... (that and whatever little free time I do get at times I'm working on a new object/accessory series I'm really excited about... and playing Skyward Sword when I get tired of doing that.)  I already feel kinda bad... I did have plans on doing that, but I just got so wrapped up in other things it slipped my mind.  Embarrassed
About the hats, it has bothered me too for a while now. Either the hair needs to be closer to the head, or the hat has to be slightly bigger. I'll take a look whenever I have some time. The hair won't be much visible under the hat, anyway.
To be perfectly honest, I don't use baby hair other than what I already have on custom skintones, so I really didn't think that far when making those swaddled meshes. I might try looking into it someday, just to see what else can be done from that base. I'm pretty sure when I get back to those I can see if I can make another version that fits the hair better without looking weird. Smiley
26  Simmers' Paradise / Content Creation & Recoloring Help / Re: How do I extract this mesh? on: November 14, 2011, 08:22:12 am
If you have a recolor of that particular maxis mesh and you have the pack installed, you can do it pretty easy in SimPE:

1. Open a new file.

2. Go to the Tools menu and go to PSJE > Body Mesh Tool > Extracting Stage. You will see a box entitled "Sim Mesh Extractor" pop up.

3. Click Open, and find a texture/recolor file linked to the maxis mesh you are looking for, and once again, click on Open. The extracted mesh files will appear in the resource list.

The other way is if you know the exact name of the mesh in question. You'd open the Sim Mesh Extractor once again, only this time typing the name of the mesh (ex. efBodyPajamasClassic, tmBottomNaked, amTopJacketTshirtHang, etc.) into the Base Mesh Name field, then click OKSmiley
27  Simmers' Paradise / Content Creation & Recoloring Help / Re: Updating old CC for Seasons/FT on: October 20, 2011, 03:38:59 pm
You'll have to have at least intermediate knowledge of SimPE (and let's not forget a little bit of patience) in order to update those objects on your own.  If you'd like to try it out sometime, Lord Darcy has a very thorough tutorial posted here on what you need to do. Smiley

As for the beds, Rebecah has a downloadable tutorial available. Wink Difficulty is just a little less than the above.

Well, since it's been two weeks (more time than what we usually give for edits in this case), the link has been removed. It can be added back, but like it's been said, you need to provide both original site and booty links in order for it to stay.  Not just one or the other. Wink
29  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: WCIF: Sideways Baseball Cap on: September 27, 2011, 02:09:42 am
There's a TS3 to TS2 accessory conversion by FourTSeven at Lost Utopia. (You must register and log-in first before you can see anything, though.)  The only thing about it that you may or may not mind is the "hat" underneath the baseball cap, but it's the only one I've seen thus far for kids that's pretty darn close to Ness's hat.
30  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Re: Sims eyes glitch when they "smile" on: September 19, 2011, 04:59:14 am
There's no fix for this sadly... it's always been an annoying thing for everyone since the base game apparently, with or without custom content.  It's a glaring facial morph problem that EA never corrected, because that "eye flash" is supposed to be the sim's blinking morph happening at the same time. Guess the animators and programmers were saying to themselves, "Meh, we'll either get to that later or they'll just have to put up with that... we have more important things to break fix."  Tongue
