I know that I'm really, really late in replying to this, but thank you so much for making my cat. I really, truly appreciate it!

The Sim pictured is not using a mask, but a custom skintone that I made. I shall try editing (or possibly recreating) the skintone to see if that helps.

I tried recoloring a Maxis mesh and, for some reason, the skintone of the outfit is darker than my Sims' actual skintone (I hope that made sense):
