Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / New bodyshape in poser, how to extract it in to the game?

Well, I see one big problem right off... you're using morphs to modify a Poser figure, rather than magnets to modify a Sims mesh. The Poser figures are completely incompatible with anything we can import into the game, you need to start with a body.obj extracted from the Sims 2 files. Poser models are way too high-poly to be able to put into the game, and are not formatted in a useable way. Take a look at Xenos tutorial over at MTS2, his technique is what I used to get started. My magnets will also be helpful, and should work correctly once you're applying them to a proper Sims mesh. Also if they are turning invisible, it may just be a Display setting in Poser... under Display is a Deformers option, set it to show all and all your magnets should be visible. I hope that helps to get you started... I know it's daunting in the beginning, but once you get the hang of it, the creation of the shapes is by far the most fun part, in my opinion anyway.

Oh OK, then definitely the Classic Pinup, as she was the first custom bodyshape... there is a TON of stuff floating around that folks have made for her, way more than the other shapes. The others do have a lot of stuff available for them too though, and are all really popular. Much of it is here in the Guest section, a lot over at MTS2, and a whole bunch at FrannySims also, among many others.

I wouldn't say any of them are "better", they're all completely different from each other. I made all of them, and they're all made using the same techniques, so the quality is exactly the same on all of them. It's just a matter of which shape you prefer, full-figured, round-bottomed "booty", classical 50's, or the slender runway model look. They're all designed to give more choices, just choose what you like... it's not like you can only pick one.

Looks great Nappyme, I hope you release it, I'd love to see more stuff out there for Vol.
I'd like to make a suggestion that many folks may not realize though... when I'm using the magnet sets for the various shapes, many times I'll adjust the position of the breast magnets somewhat to compensate for how the outfit would look naturally. In this case I think it would look better if you raise them a bit, to smooth out the curve, since it's a fairly bulky top and would not quite contour around the bottoms of the breasts like it is here. Just adjust the Y Axis position of each breast magnet by about 1 to 1.5, and it should do the trick, as the original position of the magnet is about -2.5, if I recall correctly, which makes them hang fairly low. Since all of my magnets are originally designed for the nude, it makes sense to adjust them for the different clothing types.
Hope to see more!

Nope, not possible... again, the mesh has to fit the standard Maxis skeleton, so all the body parts have to have the same overall positions and proportions, so we can't alter things like neck length or shoulder position, or the animations would look really bizarre since the joints would be in the standard fixed positions, regardless of where that was in the mesh.
