1  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Genie Lamp is crashing my lots. on: September 19, 2009, 03:23:18 am
Ok, so I've been away from playing Sims for a while due to exploring Windows 7, then a few caps on my motherboard going south, etc...  Installed my game (all EPs no SPs) and all seemed well.  Got a character sent off to university and soon after, she received a genie lamp.  Sweet!  I just moved it out of the way and played on.  Next time I tried to enter the lot, the game crashed.  Didn't connect the two...  After a couple of tries, I moved her and her roommies out and into a new house.  Still no dice on entering the old lot even with the Sims moved out.  Hmm...  Oh well, I only spent about three hours modding that house for them.  Moved them into a simple house since I wasn't sure if the new lot would crash...  It didn't.  Cool!  Few Sim days later, another genie lamp...  It finally clicked that was what crashed the other lot.  Ok...  so, this time, I used the lamp and it went away...  But now I can't enter that lot.  Is there a way to repair these lots (mostly I want that first one fixed)?  So far I've turned off CC and removed my Download folder.  If I were to dig into the lot with SimPE what should I look for?  It's been about a year since I've gotten my hands dirty.

Here is actually the first apartment I attempted.  After failure and much fixy, here it is with 5 apartments between 5,029 and 5,288 Simoleons.  Each fully furnished unit is 2 bed, 3 full bath, with personal garage and back deck.  Lot ammenities are a decent sized pool and outdoor dining.

I've played a sim (with a pet and then a moved in partner) through her entire life cycle and love the function of this lot, except the long front walk and the fairly high rent, but these are *really* nice units...

No CC, built with all eps and as I just discovered, Glamour Life, Celebration, and H&M Fashion...my wife just tells me.

After working on the castle, I came to the conclusion that I wanted something simpler to actually play with, something that wouldn't lag horribly.  I also wanted to have garages and sim owned cars.  This is what I came up with.

4 Units priced at $2,854 - 3,054
Each has 1 bedroom and 1 full bath
Full Kitchen and Dining room
Garage space for 1 Sim owned car
Access to pool and games in comon areas
I didn't do lights/floors/staging, but otherwise furnished

Built using all episodes w/o cc.

Tried to play this lot and found a few problems...  I fixed problems with the stove and bedroom and added some touches including lighting and floors.

Enjoy

(sorry about the small pictures...)

First lot post.  Yay!

I had this castle sitting around and saw a request for a castle converted to apartments, soo...  Well, I ended up totally demolishing the entire house and rebuilding it.  It just seemed easier after trying vainly to figure out how to convert it.  But in the end, the result was worth it and now I'm going to make it a single residence again.  But here is the apartment version!  I only went with 4 apartments since I figured it is a castle, they should be pretty nice and spacious and have all the amenities, even if it costs.  Rental is 40xx to 52xx simoleons if I remember right.  All units are fully furnished and contain a full kitchen with dining, a living room, 2 full baths, bedroom, 2 fireplaces, access to a roof patio (1 for each apartment, though they are actually common area).  Building amenities include a large pool with sauna in the basement (walk out), bowling ally (also in basement), 4 community bathrooms (gender specific, 2 in pool area, 2 above the game room), a game room above the lobby (pool table, darts and video and pinball games), fishing in the (interior) moat, hot springs, and telescopes on various towers.  Built with all EPs, w/ no CC and (I am pretty sure) no SP.
