I've seen a great one on the exchange called the "party barge" but I was wondering if anyone knew of a Sims 3 non-exchange nightclub on a boat/barge?

Thanks to the great computer explosion of 2011 I am relegated for the time being back to the land of Sims Lifestories.   Since it's my only option atm (not my computer) I went back to trying to understand why the welcome pack DJ booth has never worked on community lots like it was supposed to.   

The DJ booth has always worked on home lots just fine.  On community lots however when you click on the booth the option to "work as DJ" appears but quickly drops queue (error log attached) even in a game with no other CC.   I would love to finally find a way to resolve this issue.

I've wondered if comparing the booth from nightlife in simpe to this one would provide a clue but a little guidance would be helpful.

If a mod uses a specific bed or chair as it's custom object is there a simple way to change it to use another object of the same type?   

Ex.: Mod A uses a standard pine bed but you would like it to use the Caress of Teak Bed.  Easy to change using Simpe or no?

My computer exploded so here I am back in Lifestories land where I started three years ago--it came with my spouse's laptop.

I need to get rid of one invisible nanny.  She was created when I used the wrong version of Christianlov's all-in-one/nanny npc (Sls needed the NL version).  Now the new nannies and butler all-in-one's are created & working perfectly, but this one nanny still shows up for work faithfully.  It's just weird seeing the baby float for baths, diaper changes, playtime and feedings.

When insimenator* deletes a sim should it be permanent? I managed to select and delete the only other invisi-nanny but this one apparently doesn't want to go.

Bear in mind though I mentioned insimenator this is not a "help my insimenator is broken!" question.  I am looking for any way to permanently delete the sim; but if the mod does this function yay me as I already use it.

While reading the manual of my coffee maker I came across what I thought was the dumbest trouble shooting resolution ever which gave me a flash of all the inane directions/instructions/supposedly helpful informational items that I've ever seen in print. Here are two I've encountered:

In my troubleshooting manual (this afternoon):

Problem- The coffeemaker brews clear water.
Possible cause- There may be no coffee grounds in the removable filter basket.
Solution- Add sufficient amount of grounds to paper-lined removable filter basket.

Really? You mean I gotta add the coffee?


On a package of airline peanuts:

Add a few of yours and we'll all have a laugh.

This isn't happening with my TS2 games or any other ap.

It wasn't happening until after the last patch so I'm stumped. I noticed in the last week that the game would freeze after about 20 minutes of play. I checked the task manager and saw that the game had my computer operating at 100% which brings everything (including task manager) to a grinding halt.  I'm not the most computer savvy (though I know more than some) and a little help would be great. I've been searching for answers but so far haven't been able to stop this excessive usage so until I solve the issue I'm leaving sims 3 alone. My comp is a bit old but not exactly a dinosaur.  Video card drivers are up-to-date.

Xp Professional Sp3
Intel P4 3.20 ghz
Ram 3 gigs
Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT W 1 gig video ram
170 gigs free disk space (out of about 420 total)

Ok so I have two issues. I took my sim to the library to read and none of the many bookshelves have any books...glitch maybe?  When I click them it says bookshelf is empty.  Anyone have this happen before?   *Maybe the town's economy crashed and they seriously need a fundraiser/book drive *

Also my sim has had a want to learn the stir fry recipe for a while. Then she got an opportunity to bring stir fry to a restaurant for a reward. However the bookstore in China doesn't sell any recipes.  I believe she has level 9 or 10 in cooking but even if she didn't shouldn't the recipe still show?

This is my first custom career.  I've actually had it in my game since October and I like it. It has it's own guid so it doesn't overwrite any other careers.

A career for all the nannies and butlers I have in my game.  I have married some and moved them out on their own and noticed that they still show up to work for all the families in game that hired them before their independence--yet they still roll the annoying job want. This career solves that issue.  Also, I don't believe the game pays the npcs after you start to play them (even though they still work) so this gives them an income as well.

Now my self-assigned nannies & butlers are able to satisfy the job want, have a titled career, keep their jobs with the families they already work for, and have open hours so I'm free to play however I like when I'm at their home lots.*

I gave it a two-hour work schedule because if I didn't all the npc nannies
& butlers who I gave the title to would leave the children to go to work. It has all 10 levels but only two chance cards (which undoubtedly you won't see unless you choose to play your in game nannies & butlers) since it was mostly for npc's.

I also use it w/ Christianlov's All-in-one nanny mod as I just like the people I hire to show as employed when selected. It works well without conflicts in my game. I haven't tried it with Squinge's nannies/or butlers but it may work. Of course this works for regular sims as well but the work day would only be two hours long (ideal if you want more free time with your favorite sims).

*I just realized that I didn't open this career to elders as I intended.  I will re-upload this when I do.*

I kind of lost interest after I accomplished my main goal so I have no immediate plans to complete this.  I welcome suggestions or anyone who wants to take on the task of creating the remaining chance cards (credit will be given). When completed it will be given its own GUID so it won't conflict with the mainly npc version (above).

OK, so I was trying to read a synopsis of a movie to find out what it was about when I came across people talking about how awful it was and the funny things they learned by watching it.  So I'm setting out to compile a list...think of it as a handy life-saving manual in case you ever come across a crazed slasher, a jealous ghost, werewolf, alien etc. We'll be writing this guide together each person continuing on from the next number where person above you stopped.

Sarcastic, realistic, helpful, or just plain wacky list all the things you've learned from watching scary movies over the years. I'll begin:


1. When hiding remember to breathe quietly.

2.  If you absolutely have to make a noise when escaping a psycho-killer and you run and hide, make the sound when you
     first hide rather then waiting until he's standing right beside you.

4.  Blood on the floor tends to be slippery.

5.  Never try to run in heels.

6.  Maniac Q being shot, stabbed, &/or falling four stories doesn't necessarily mean you can take a breather before
     calling the police leaving the vicinity.
