1  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Familys from sims1 or sims2 carried over into sims3? on: June 02, 2009, 01:49:44 pm
Well, Betty Newbie will be in Riverview. I think Don Lathario is too. I miss the Snooty Patooties from the original game! I had fun torturing them. Not sure who else will be in there.
2  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Buzz / Re: Happy day i have the sims3 on: June 02, 2009, 01:35:11 pm
I was stupid and bought it via EA Downloader. I should have waited. It's taking forever. On the official Sims 3 forums, everyone that bought the digital download of the game is having issues. It stops downloading giving us error messages, the download times are LONG, and people are pretty upset about it. Typical EA wasnt prepared, and had no idea that so many people would be getting it this way. I should have just gone to Wal Mart.

WooHoo! And here I thought I was the only one that didnt like this EP. I'm so glad I'm not alone! Smiley

*hugs Scotty* I know how tough it is. I bought BV and waited a few months before installing it. I am buying FT today with the same plan. I've spent more time on the InSIm adult side, here and your site :love7: that I hardly played the game at all. I just went on my first vacation yesterday and the farthest I got was setting up the home.

I can say that GSC site is more about the members than the game. There are so many wonderful people on there. It's a community. Don't give up, sweets. Take a deep breath and answer my frickin PMs! *smiles*

Thanks all. I guess I was just pissed off and disgusted. I usually go with the flow when a new EP is released. and calmly try and fix what ever problems I may have. But it just rubbed me the wrong way this time. These games would be so much better if Maxis actually listened to the players for a change. This EP is a pretty lame bow out for the Sims 2. I thought they would go out with more of a bang. But oh well.

And Odessa. don't worry, I don't think I'll close my forum. I know that would upset alot of people. Just give me some time, and we'll see how things go. For right now though, I am more than likely giving up on the Sims. That may change in the future though. Smiley

Okay, I just got Free Time, and I feel like I totally wasted my money. I wasn't very excited about this EP when it was announced several months ago, (In fact, I actually thought it was a sick joke) And I am totally underwhelmed now that I have it. The game was running fine until it crashed on me when I tried to go to one of the secret lots. I have some sort of problem like that every time I install an EP. Even when I remove all my hacks. And at this point, I really don't care if it gets fixed or not.

The thing is, I am REALLY sick and tired of EA's shoddy and lackluster programming when it comes to these games. This is their damn flagship game for God's Sake! And yet in there greed, they would rather release a crappy piece of software just so they can rake in the money. To be honest, I really haven't played Sims in many months. I played BV for a bit, but quickly got bored with it and went on to something else.

I'm just tired. Tired of all the hassle that comes along with a new EP. I know that this will more than likely be the last EP for Sims 2. I don't think I will bother with Sims 3 when IT comes out.

I have been a part of the Sims Community for several years. The only thing that's really keeping me around now is my forum, and the friends I have made there. But when TS3 comes out, and Sims 2 goes the way of Sims 1, I will probably retire.

Zzzzzzzzzz :::yawn::: Huh? A new EP already?

I'm sorry, but this is the first EP I'm not all that excited about. Oh, I'll probably get it because I am a collector, but other than that, I could probably have just as much fun watching grass grow.
7  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / I am going to f***ing scream on: November 22, 2007, 05:19:32 pm
This isn't exactly a Sims 2 issue. I have no problem playing that game. I have problems playing some other games though. Such as Half Life games, WoW, some of the smaller casual games that you would find on Big Fish.com and Real Arcade also crash my system. ::: gets a hammer ::: I am so tempted!

I will look into that card, thanks. It will have to be after the holidays. Cant afford much at the moment, but  I do want to get something good, and reliable. I may just end up going back to XP if thats the problem. But Vista was having no trouble for months, this is fairly recent. Only started doing this toward the end of summer.

I am also going to get more RAM and a bigger hard drive. I'll just use this one as extra space. Smiley
8  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / I am going to f***ing scream on: November 22, 2007, 02:26:12 am
For the  past few months, my computer has been crashing when I play certain games. Sometimes I get a BSOD and sometimes just an error. I am on Vista, have 2 GBs of Ram, and my video card is a Radeon x1650 PCI Express, 256 MBs. I have a feeling the culprit is either the video card, the drivers, or some random crap on my computer. (And yep, I updated the drivers) It's totally pissing me off. Can anyone recommend a good nVidia graphics card that isn't too expensive? It has to be PCI Express, since that's what my motherboard has. (This is a home built computer BTW) I had no trouble for several months after getting this machine, this started only a couple months ago, and the computer is less than a year old.

I am going to reformat the hard drive this week, and see if that fixes things. But if not, I'll get the new card. ugh, like I want to spend any money right now. I'm willing to pay $100-$200. Any ideas?

If this is in the wrong place, feel free to move it. Smiley

10  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / I'm such an idiot! on: September 25, 2007, 05:13:18 pm
I've never done that. I am very anal with my downloads. I have stuff I've downloaded when the base game first came out. I just have no desire to start all over again. Some of that stuff would be impossible to find.

And even though I don't play the Sims 1 anymore, I still have all my Sims 1 downloads backed up on CD. Smiley

After having to play all the EP'S while waiting to have hacks updated, especially insim, I've decided to wait to buy the new EP until hacks are updated and patches are made. After reading everybodies comments since BV came out, I'm glad i'm waiting. This game seems really messed up. I bought a new computer just for the sim games, and if anything messed it up, I would freak. Lord know this happened several times with my old computer and I thought I would have a nervous breakdown. Maybe by Christmas it will be playable.

ALL EPs have bugs in them at first. BV is no different.

I'd imagine they would be pretty common.  The hardware it seems to be buggy with is very popular hardware.

Any of you try my tips with Vista?  For the first time since Windows 3.1, I haven't updated my operating system right away when something new has come out.  I mean I hopped to windows 95 right away.. I hopped to 98 right away.. I got Windows Millenium right away.. tried 2000.. went to XP.  But I won't touch vista.  I've heard it's buggier than Bon Voyage.. so I was curious how the Sims 2 works under it..

I have Vista, and the game runs with no problems. Just the usual bugs that every one else is reporting. I like Vista alot better than XP. It helps if you have a good system too.
