1  Welcome to insimenator.org / Issues & Suggestions / Staff List, Member List adjustment on: December 11, 2008, 06:51:53 pm
Hello all!

Ok, so it has been a LONG time since I have been here. The few of you who remember me would have seen me more in the old game and introduction forums. Since both of those were deleted during the transfer, I went from a Top 10 poster down to wee member. Cheesy  But anyway, down to business!

SMF was a nice choice for the transferring over. One problem that I recall about it from other forums, though, is that members have a hard time figuring out who the staff are unless that person happens to be online. So, I would suggest a pinned/stickied list of all staff. A way to make the list even more helpful -- especially few newer members -- would be to do with the list as many forums already do: add color to the usernames according to their position in the same way that you see them colored when they are in the online list, group them by position or add a color key at the top explaining what position each color stands for, and link each staff name to their profile. Additionally, for people that have their own section (since this forum has SO MANY sections) it might be helpful to add links out to the side of the creator.

Another minor tweak would be to reduce the number of members that display per page on the member list. It is currently set to 999 names per page, which I am pretty sure is the maximum, which means a luch larger load time if the page is used by anyone.

The easiest answer I can give you is to actually not use SimPE at all.

HomeCrafter Plus is a very easy tool to use (released by EA) designed specifically for creating floor and wall sections. It is much easier to create the wall sections that you combine to make a wall or floor mural than going through the many steps of SimPE.

But if you feel that you absolutely must use SimPE, then mention it again. Smiley

*passes out cheesecakes to all*

I take things to seriously (or maybe I just try accepting things rather than complaining). I saw the forum minutes after it went up, and my only thought was "Oh well. I hope it helps them make more money. The site isn't free after all."

It's not my site, so I saw no point in getting angry or upset or to take it as a joke.

BTW, someone in this thread mentioned that what was done here was not as bad as what was done at MST2. What did they do?

Downloading is easy. You just find something that you want, click on the file at the bottom of the first post, and when the new window pops up, save the file somewhere that you can get to it easily. After that, since most files are placed in .ZIP or .RAR compression files, you have to take them out. Since that takes a little more explaining depending on the file, take a look at this tutorial

I totally suggest going to the message boards on the Exchange to have your wants be heard. Whether many believe it or not, they DO listen.
Been done. The topics about bugs and things that people are NOT happy with always get closed with barely a comment from the staff there. But discussing that is not the purpose of this topic.
