46  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Witch Spells...a dissapointment? on: September 25, 2008, 11:27:45 am
I got the new version of SimPE from a link off MATY. I was reading through the thread, they were helping to test it there and most response was very positive. Assuming they don't still find any major issues, we will start seeing new spells real soon.  Yipee!

Yea, I guess now it’s just a matter of waiting for our super awesome community modders to save the day (once again!). :worship: :worship:
48  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / What's your take on Securom? on: September 19, 2008, 02:40:13 pm
Yea I didn't really know about securom until Freetime... however I always got no-cd cracks for my games so I think/hope it was never installed on my PC. In my great weakness... I got AL to finish the series. :slap:

I know many people would frown at me for giving EA money after knowing about securom... Actually my sister was pretty mad at me when I told her what I did, she's been anti-securom for some time already (she plays sims as well).  The Freetime version of Securom actually messed with her computer pretty bad so I can understand.

So what is my take on Securom: I hate Sony/Securom, I am totally disgusted with EA and I vow never to buy anything ever again after this in the hopes that one day they will get their heads out of their butts and remove Securom from all their future releases
49  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Pets!!! on: September 19, 2008, 02:07:07 pm
Yes actually. There is usually a box that asks you who you want to bring with you. At that time you can select to bring your pets with you (when calling for a taxi or choosing your car).

My Pet peev is in the Makin Magic they Had Hypnosis. I would've Thought that in this They would've Take it Up a Notch. or the spell that Turned your Pet into a Sim Animal Thing. I think they could've modified it and Make Catgirl/catboys Or Dogboy/girls. That wouldve rocked!

Oh yea that would be cool! I never really used the "turn pet into sim" spell in sims 1 however if it would make your pet look like a simcat (I imagine a sim with cat ears and a tail) or simdog that would be pretty neat hehe...

Actually ya know what I miss... I really miss the dueling matches they had in sims 1...

52  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Why are Wall/Floors packaged seperately on: September 19, 2008, 01:49:51 pm
Yes I already have those options with WinRAR for extracting multipe compressed files at a time.
And I know with clean installer that you can uncheck the default location and browse... my question was is there a way to speed up extracting the clean installer files instead of doing them all individually.

Hi cuddles. Have you tried doing one without separately processing the package files? Sometimes you only have to do that if the zip file contains both .rar and package files. If it is in the .rar file, it might install as a part of Clean Installer, Sims2Pack, or WinRar processing. Worth a try anyway.

Hrm, ok well I know I usually just use the "extract here" feature of RAR and then sort/move through the files myself (I don't really like programs that "install" files for me just because i'm really anal about where they all go) and that is usually when I will find all the walls packaged seperately.

Thanks for you help anyways everyone, I guess I will just have to accept things the way they are. :rabbit:

I have a silly question that I have been dying to ask because I never understood the reasoning behind the method. So maybe if I understand the “why” it won’t bug me as much. That’s how my brain works, don’t ask. :happy8:

Ok so, when I download certain CC sets (ie. Houses, Living rooms etc) or individual files they will often be all compressed into a single .rar. But in that .rar file, if there are some walls/floors I will find them each packaged individually which forces me to click on each file to extract them separately, one at a time (I use the clean installer for this). Sometimes there can be up to 20 files too and it can take a long time when really if they were just included in the rar I could just move them all in one go.

I always wondered how come I see this so often. Is there another program aside clean installer that would allow me to extract all the .sims2pack files at once that I am not aware of?

Any tips here would be greatly appreciated.

Ohh I was not aware that updating simpe had to do with the delay in making new spells. Makes sense now that you point that out Tongue hehe

And yea I would agree, the spectral servant should be available to more than just the good witch... in fact, the more I play with the witches the more I think I would eventually get a mod that would allow all witches to have all spells no matter their alignment. I've never been huge on the good vs evil thing.

I can't get enough plants and flowers for my gardens Tongue
Don't really care about the mansions though...
58  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Religious faith versus Non-conformist faith and the Sims 2 on: September 17, 2008, 11:20:06 am
I am an Atheist however I have always been the type to have a very open mind. I have studied Buddhism, Paganism and was (kinda) raised Christian. I have had several different friends with different beliefs and always took the time to listen. I believe most religions have something good to preach. However I am strongly opposed to any organized religion as I believe much like Berilac Burrows who posted above me that such institutions turn good principles into tools of manipulation, control and sometimes violence.

The Sims witches are such a staple of modern folklore in the way they were represented in AL I can’t understand how anyone can be offended. Like come on, green skin, cauldrons, flying brooms, cats, pointy hats, wands… This has nothing to do with real Wiccan religion, Sims witches are a joke! Those who got the impression that there was something similar with these witches and Wiccans simply do not know enough about Wiccans to know the difference (or to know that Wiccan beliefs are nothing close to “evil”).

To me magic is the representation of imagination and wonder. To be able to do magic is something I always wished for as a child. This world of ghosts, magic, witches and vampires etc. I knew none these things were real but I always was the type to daydream about worlds far far away. When we are young and our imagination has yet to be crushed by adults and TV, to me having magic in the game reminds me of those days where everything was still possible. It sends such a message of simplicity and innocence that I simply cannot wrap my head around all this controversy…
59  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Witch Spells...a dissapointment? on: September 17, 2008, 10:33:59 am
For those who were looking forward to the witches. Are you disappointed in the spells? I mean there are a few really cool ones, some useful ones, but really I find myself rather limited and quickly bored with them. It just seems like they could have done so much more! I always find myself using the same ones over and over.

I miss a spell to make Sims fall in love. Oh and the one to animate objects (like the gnomes) in Sims 1 was so fun wish we had something like that too. And also I would like to see spells that give aspiration meter boosts/drain. Maybe some more evil spells…  Also I feel rather limited with the fact that if you are a good witch you can’t cast all the evil spells and vice versa. I hope to see some cool spell mods in the future, I have been checking for them daily.

Does anyone else have any spells they wish they had? What would you have liked to see? Or do you like it the way it is?
