I make my sims in CAS and they are fine but as soon as I move them onto a lot, their faces change and become all stretched and stuff. Any ideas on how to fix the problem?

Which expansions do you have?
21  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Female Hair / Maid hat zapper! on: March 05, 2008, 09:26:10 pm
This little thing erases that stupid lace hat from your maids! Use it in conjunction with the NPC Replacer from SimWardrobe, or don't. It's up to you.

To install, drop these files in your downloads folder. That's it. It *shouldn't* conflict with any maid replacement package that needs hat zapping, since it's just a texture replacement.

This will affect all existing maids, but it won't give them a new thumbnail portrait.

Terms of use:

Don't use this file or NPC sims made with this file for any sort of money-making purpose. If you're going to use these files for an NPC that you plan to share for free, that's fine, but I'd like a mention. Smiley

Beyond that, I don't care. Go nuts! Share far and wide!
22  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Make Up / Default replacement face archetype: 18 CAUS on: March 02, 2008, 02:54:09 pm
I'm...sort of back. I definitely can't spend as much time on the Sims as I used to, so I'm trying to finish up all by half-done projects and post them as time permits. There are more default hairs coming, but they will take a while.

This face - CAUS - has been the bane of my freaking existence, so I finally made a replacement for it. It is now an elegant oval shape with sleepy eyes and well-formed cheekbones. The toddler is a little gremlin-y, but to be completely honest with you, I age up toddlers as fast as I can so it doesn't bother me.

To install, drop these files in your downloads folder. If you are already using a face replacement for CAUS, make sure you take out all 8 ages for the old one. If you want the new face to show up in the previews, delete  CASthumbnails.package from the "Thumbnails" folder before starting your game up.

This will not affect existing sims, just new ones generated by the game. Or you, if you don't bother with sliders. If you want to fix an existing sim, there are a couple different methods available, look around.

Terms of use:

Don't use this file or sims made with this unaltered face sculpt for any sort of money-making purpose. If you're going to use these files for a sim that you plan to share for free, that's fine, but either say I did the face sculpt or tweak a feature or two.

Beyond that, I don't care. Go nuts! Share far and wide!
23  Simmers' Paradise / Content Creation & Recoloring Help / default sky ETA: Stupid EAxis (please read) on: December 29, 2007, 09:53:31 am
Is the sky you see in the game not called skysphere? I've made a default texture replacement for skysphere, and it's not taking no matter which method I use to construct the package.

This makes me think one of two things is going on:

1. The sky has been coded to resist default replacement.

2. The sky isn't skysphere. Skysphere is then either a lost item, or it's used for something weird, like thumbnail generation.

Has anyone tried this before? Any ideas? Bueller?

ETA: The answer is 2, and possibly also 1. I found the new sky, but, um, check out what a normal-method default replacement did. Normal method for me means only replacing the highest-quality image in a txtr file, and mipmapping the other sizes to point to the big one.

ETA #2: I did a replacement package with the full range of mipmapped images. One side of the sky cube changed. (I should note that it looks like the neighborhood sky and the lot sky are two different things, since one turned green and the other turned pink/tan - the gradient colors I'm using for this). :/ I'm going to check the txmt file list to see if perhaps I missed some. If not, I'm going to scrap this and leave my notes here for anyone else who wants to try this.

ETA #3: OK. I have been up and down the game files, and I cannot find anything that might be the txmt for the sky, or txtrs for the other sides. Everything's either obviously something else, or it was ambiguous and ruled out. Does anyone know how to find the parts of a package when EAxis has named it all sorts of different things?

The Natural Redhead Project is an open-ended recolor project sparked by the near-complete absence of believable red hair colors in the sims community. Since the start of the project, we have since expanded our focus to include believable blonds, other natural colors, and even fantasy and punk colors.

To date, ten creators have released 60 different posts, with hundreds of individual files in those posts. There is a huge selection of hair, along with skintones, facial hair, and freckling clothes, genetics and makeup.

If you would like to find out more about the Natural Redhead Project, please see our project thread on MTS2, or our forum here:

If you would like to make hair recolors that work with these defaults, I have uploaded a set of Photoshop color swatches. They were made in 7.0, but I think swatches work in any version of Photoshop. Feel free to use these for any project for any reason.

XPLT297 has also made some default hair replacement packages for the game. The colors he chose are radically different from mine, but there's nothing like choice, right? You can find them in his "alpha disturbed" subforum here at InSimenator.

...And that's it! I hope you enjoy this first installment of NRP's default hair replacements, and may your holidays be stress-free and full of good times.
