79  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Mixed Sets/Unisex / 2 whole sets of all-ages mohawks. 22 colors, with 5 reds EACH. on: October 27, 2007, 07:04:54 am
:director: Terms of use for these textures/recolors: These files may be redistributed via shared sims, so long as those sims are available in the free section of any site, and I am credited with a link back to my profile on this site. You may not charge money or a membership fee for my files: this includes "donation files" on an otherwise free site, and sites where my files would only periodically be free.

These files may also be shared via Neighborhood 99, so long as I am properly credited.

You may recolor these files so long as your derivative works are only posted on free sites as described in the previous paragraph.

IF YOU DOWNLOAD THE TWO FILES IN THIS FIRST POST, YOU WILL HAVE EVERY. SINGLE. FILE. ONLY DOWNLOAD THE INDIVIDUAL FILES FROM THE FIRST TWO COMMENTS IF YOU DON'T WANT ALL OF THE RECOLORS AND WOULD LIKE TO JUST PICK OUT YOUR FAVORITES.

Cheesy MESHES: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=110165, http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=110219

Part of the Natural Redhead Project: 2 full sets of recolors for melodie9's all-ages male and female mohawks. All color-binned and made with Legacy BodyShop. These have cleaned-up stubble, which actually matches the rest of the hair growing out of the sims' heads. (Except the leopard-print mohawks, which kept the original alpha).

Wonkiness alert: I experienced some difficulty with the natural recolors for this mesh. It's basically a sail coming off the top of the head, and it either catches the light full-on or it doesn't. The appearance of the same mohawk can vary WIDELY from one angle to the next, even with the same light source.  Lights that have different color "light" (like the heavy iron floor candelabra) have a much greater effect than usual on the natural colors. True-white lights aren't so bad. The unnatural colors also weren't so bad, since they are much more saturated than natural hair colors. So these recolors usually look alright, but you may want to do a little light-related planning if you do a lot of storytelling.

EXAMPLE:

BOTH OF THESE FILES WERE MADE WITH THE SAME TEXTURE.
THIS IS AN EXTREME EXAMPLE OF THE COLOR SHIFT THAT CAN
OCCUR JUST BY CHANGING A SIM'S POSITION IN RELATION TO
THE LIGHT SOURCE.

COLORS:

ALL COLORS CAN BE PREVIEWED AT MY PHOTOBUCKET:
http://s210.photobucket.com/albums/bb124/alkalinesims/nrpmohawks/?start=all

Reds (both sexes):
Dark Auburn, Auburn, Ginger, Titian, and Strawberry Blond.

Blonds (both sexes):
Beach Blond, Champagne Blond, Ash Blond, and Platinum Blond.

Browns (both sexes):
Dark Brown, Chocolate Brown, Light Brown, and Cool Brown.

Blacks (both sexes):
True Black.

Fantasy Custom (both sexes, all ages):
Aubergine, Snow White, Natural Grey.

Female Punk Custom (age to different colors):
Blond with Leopard, Flame, Pink, Red with Leopard, and Turquoise with Leopard (my fave out of this set).

Male Punk Custom (age to different colors):
Flame, Green, Pink, Rainbow, and Red with Leopard.

[/B]

The elder states for the 4 natural color bins have various appropriate shades of grey, except black, which stays black.. Auburn is binned in red with brown eyebrows, and Strawberry Blond is binned in blond with red eyebrows. The fantasy custom colors are all-ages. The punk custom colors all age to natural colors (red, blond, etc). I don't remember which ages to which, sorry. Also, while I liberated most of the mirror colors for this, I didn't do the female rainbow. Eh.

All of the colors have been rarred up by sex, and included in this initial post. If you would like to pick out just a couple of the colors, see the first two replies to this post. IF YOU DOWNLOAD THE TWO FILES IN THIS FIRST POST, YOU WILL HAVE EVERY. SINGLE. FILE. DON'T GRAB EVERY FILE IN THE FIRST POST AND FIRST TWO COMMENTS - YOU WILL END UP WITH TWO COPIES OF EVERY SINGLE FILE.

82  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Walls, Floors & Murals / Chalk-line terrain paint on: October 21, 2007, 09:39:05 pm
So I thought it would be neat to have a terrain paint that could be used for chalk lines. It's white, but the texture is the grass texture, and there's a little bit of green in the shadows.

The teeniest tiniest paint tip is really too broad for good lines, but you could paint back over the white with your grass (or whatever) paint and shave it down. (Hint: it's easiest to get straight lines in top-down view). Small symbols and letters are probably right out, though.

It also works alright for unseasonable snow effects.
