1  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Female Hair / 10 all-ages recolors of melodie9's shortcute hair on: June 14, 2008, 07:32:46 pm
MESH: http://modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=110173

10 recolors of melodie9's all-ages female short cute hair. All colors are binned and geneticized. No family groups, since everyone picks and chooses different colors. You can make the family group of your dreams with JFade's Wardrobe Wrangler, if that's an issue for you.

The texture uses one of Nouk's textures as the base for my retexture. Thanks to Nouk for such generous terms of use!

Blonds: Beach Blond and Champagne Blond.

Reds: Auburn and Dark Auburn.

Browns: Chocolate Brown and Dark Brown.

Blacks: Warm Black and True Black.

Custom (Dyed): Razzmatazz and Deep Navy. The toddler and teen ages are brown and blond, and aren't selectable in CAS. They will age into those states, though. Elders are brown and blond, respectively.

You can download a default replacement version of this hair here: http://www.insimenator.org/showthread.php?t=83496.

2  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Female Hair / Default replacement hair: female "shortcute". on: June 06, 2008, 09:39:51 am
This package replaces the female “shortcute” hair. It uses one of Nouk’s textures as the base, and has been alpha-edited around the face to lighten up the texture.

This hair replaces two mirror hairs, in addition to the basic colors. Frosty Purple has been replaced with a rich raspberry color, and Frosty Blond has been replaced with a deep navy blue.

To whomever it may concern: no, I’m not making different colorways for you.

3  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Male Hair / 10 all-ages recolors of Louis' Kyoh hair on: May 07, 2008, 09:21:25 am
:blob6: MESH: http://sumomo.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=92508

10 recolors of melodie9's "sixties hair", using Louis' Kyoh hair alpha. I retextured the hair, but due to some crappy EA UV mapping, I couldn't get it any better than looking kind of fluffy.

All colors are binned and geneticized. No family groups, since everyone picks and chooses different colors. You can make the family group of your dreams with JFade's Wardrobe Wrangler, if that's an issue for you.

Blonds: Beach Blond and Platinum Blond.

Reds: Auburn and Dark Auburn.

Browns: Cool Brown and Chocolate Brown.

Blacks: Warm Black and True Black.

Custom (Dyed): Atomic Turquoise and Burgundy, for teens-adults. The toddler and child ages are brown and black, respectively. They will also revert to dyed brown and black for elders. The toddler and child ages are hidden, but are fully functional.

4  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Male Hair / Default replacement hair: male "hairsixty" using Louis' Kyoh hair alpha. on: April 15, 2008, 08:11:53 pm
OK! Another default replacement hair. This is a replacement for the male bowl cut, AKA "hairsixty," "long bowl," "coconut hair," and "the nerdiest basegame hair."

I used Louis' alpha for the Kyoh hair for this, with a new texture. It looks very fine and slightly fluffy in-game. Hair colors match the ones I used for the NRP defaults, more or less. There are some non-default versions coming in a week or two.

This hair has a four-part alpha, so this file is freaking huge, and it took a lot of fiddling and redirecting on my part to make this work. In the event that you have a mesh that looks for the game texture for this hair, I also replaced that. It won't show up in the default replacement, but it's available in case anything starts looking for the original texture. The main difference is that it's a little shaggier around the ears.

To whomever it may concern: no, I'm not making different colorways for you.

Non-default versions of this hair are posted here: http://www.insimenator.org/showthread.php?t=81063.

5  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Female Hair / 14 recolors of Melodie9's all-ages female long hair. on: March 27, 2008, 06:42:11 pm
MESH: http://modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=110190

14 recolors of melodie9's all-ages long female hair. My old monitor finally burned out, so the colors may be a little different from the standardized colors I used for the NRP uploads. Sorry about that.

All colors are binned and geneticized. No family groups, since everyone picks and chooses different colors. You can make the family group of your dreams with JFade's Wardrobe Wrangler, if that's an issue for you.

The texture uses Nouk's armywife hair as the base for my retexture. Thanks to Nouk for such generous terms of use! Cheesy

Blonds: Beach Blond*, Champagne Blond* and Platinum Blond*.

Reds: Ginger*, Auburn** and Dark Auburn**.

Browns: Light Brown**, Chocolate Brown (inexplicably labeled "Medium Brown" in the preview)** and Dark Brown***.

Blacks: Warm Black*** and True Black***.

Greys: * Ages to Pearl Grey, ** Ages to Mousy Grey, *** Ages to Steel Grey.

Custom (Dyed): Blond with Pink Streaks. The toddler and teen ages are brown, and aren't selectable in CAS. They will age into those states, though. Elders are light pink.

Custom (Fantasy): Pearl Grey and Aubergine. Both are all-ages.

7  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Female Hair / Maid hat zapper! on: March 05, 2008, 09:26:10 pm
This little thing erases that stupid lace hat from your maids! Use it in conjunction with the NPC Replacer from SimWardrobe, or don't. It's up to you.

To install, drop these files in your downloads folder. That's it. It *shouldn't* conflict with any maid replacement package that needs hat zapping, since it's just a texture replacement.

This will affect all existing maids, but it won't give them a new thumbnail portrait.

Terms of use:

Don't use this file or NPC sims made with this file for any sort of money-making purpose. If you're going to use these files for an NPC that you plan to share for free, that's fine, but I'd like a mention. Smiley

Beyond that, I don't care. Go nuts! Share far and wide!
8  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Make Up / Default replacement face archetype: 18 CAUS on: March 02, 2008, 02:54:09 pm
I'm...sort of back. I definitely can't spend as much time on the Sims as I used to, so I'm trying to finish up all by half-done projects and post them as time permits. There are more default hairs coming, but they will take a while.

This face - CAUS - has been the bane of my freaking existence, so I finally made a replacement for it. It is now an elegant oval shape with sleepy eyes and well-formed cheekbones. The toddler is a little gremlin-y, but to be completely honest with you, I age up toddlers as fast as I can so it doesn't bother me.

To install, drop these files in your downloads folder. If you are already using a face replacement for CAUS, make sure you take out all 8 ages for the old one. If you want the new face to show up in the previews, delete  CASthumbnails.package from the "Thumbnails" folder before starting your game up.

This will not affect existing sims, just new ones generated by the game. Or you, if you don't bother with sliders. If you want to fix an existing sim, there are a couple different methods available, look around.

Terms of use:

Don't use this file or sims made with this unaltered face sculpt for any sort of money-making purpose. If you're going to use these files for a sim that you plan to share for free, that's fine, but either say I did the face sculpt or tweak a feature or two.

Beyond that, I don't care. Go nuts! Share far and wide!
9  Simmers' Paradise / Content Creation & Recoloring Help / default sky ETA: Stupid EAxis (please read) on: December 29, 2007, 09:53:31 am
Is the sky you see in the game not called skysphere? I've made a default texture replacement for skysphere, and it's not taking no matter which method I use to construct the package.

This makes me think one of two things is going on:

1. The sky has been coded to resist default replacement.

2. The sky isn't skysphere. Skysphere is then either a lost item, or it's used for something weird, like thumbnail generation.

Has anyone tried this before? Any ideas? Bueller?

ETA: The answer is 2, and possibly also 1. I found the new sky, but, um, check out what a normal-method default replacement did. Normal method for me means only replacing the highest-quality image in a txtr file, and mipmapping the other sizes to point to the big one.

ETA #2: I did a replacement package with the full range of mipmapped images. One side of the sky cube changed. (I should note that it looks like the neighborhood sky and the lot sky are two different things, since one turned green and the other turned pink/tan - the gradient colors I'm using for this). :/ I'm going to check the txmt file list to see if perhaps I missed some. If not, I'm going to scrap this and leave my notes here for anyone else who wants to try this.

ETA #3: OK. I have been up and down the game files, and I cannot find anything that might be the txmt for the sky, or txtrs for the other sides. Everything's either obviously something else, or it was ambiguous and ruled out. Does anyone know how to find the parts of a package when EAxis has named it all sorts of different things?
10  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Mixed Sets/Unisex / UPDATED 6/2/08: Default Replacement Hair and Facial Hair, part 1 on: December 23, 2007, 06:20:48 pm
ETA: UPDATES! So I got a new monitor, and it messed up my hairs, specifically the browns and blacks that I made in the few months before I replaced my monitor. I tried fiddling with my settings to make everything look the way it used to look to me, but the last few recolors just wouldn't cooperate, which means I'm slowly going through and fixing everything (in roughly the order in which they annoy me). Also, since I only make content I want for myself, I am no longer supporting the out-of-date files. When they're gone, they're gone.

6/2/08: replaced female long hair, and male closecropped/toddler kinkypuff.

I hope you're feeling patient, because there are a lot of files here, and it's taken me all week just to set this post up.

I also hope that you're sick to death of EAxis hairs and would like some default replacement hair files! Wooo!

Before making these, I went around to a couple different computers and picked out the colors that were the most consistent, and the most believable with a variety of different skintones. Not every hair color looks good with every skintone, but that's the way life is so I'm really not worried about it.

Beyond that, I focused more on capturing the feel of a head of hair over making sure you can see every last strand. It's the way I like it, and if you also like it, that's great. If you don't, well, I'm not going to make things I don't want for myself. Smiley

Extra-huge thanks and smooches to Nouk, Seomi, Louis, Numenor, and the SimPE team. I could not have done this without you and your contributions to the Sims community.

P.S. These are for The Natural Redhead Project!

Cheesy MESH: http://modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=93651

Part of the Natural Redhead Project.

Ten recolors of the adorable base-game rosettes, for all ages. A little heavy on the browns this time.

Reds: Dark Auburn and Auburn.
Blond: Beach Blond.
Browns: Dark Brown, Chocolate Brown, Cool Brown and Light Brown.
Blacks: True Black, Warm Black.

13  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Make Up / Classicream Reds: 6 matching sets of lips and nails. Good with all (human) skintones! on: December 09, 2007, 04:45:06 pm
Cheesy MESH: http://forums.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=179574. You need the mesh, or you won't be able to see the fingernails.

OK! 6 classic cream lipsticks, with 6 matching recolors of shadylady482's short nails mesh. They work very well on most dark skin tones, and 4 of them look good on extremely dark skin tones. Smiley The brick is pretty hot with auburn, if you're an NRP regular. Wink

14  Simmers' Paradise / Content Creation & Recoloring Help / Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? (Making eyes that change as sims age) on: December 07, 2007, 06:21:27 pm
I'm completely stumped, and if anyone can help me, I'd really appreciate it. I've been trying to make some eyes that develop cataracts as adults age to elder, but nothing I do seems to work properly.

For my first attempt, I added in a second xml and txtr from a second set of eyes (changed the age flags accordingly), then gave them all the same family group.  This produced an eye that worked in bodyshop (I've since deleted it, sorry). However, the elder eye would disappear in CAS and the skintone's emergency backup eye would show.

For my second attempt, I did what I did the first time, then also attempted to follow simplystella's age-removal tutorial for hairs in reverse. Then I went through all the different parts of the package, and tried to make sure that everything that was the same on hair for different instances was the same on my eyes.

Now I have eyes that don't age up in CAS or bodyshop, and also spawn two thumbnails in bodyshop.

I'm uploading the fubared package, along with all the original resources I exported from the original cataract eye. Please take a look if you think you can help? Smiley
