1  The Sims 3 / Pudding WCIF / Collection Helper Mod on: September 03, 2013, 03:17:10 pm
I've been wishing for something for a long time now, and I've done multiple searches without any luck.  I'm looking for a mod for the Collection Helper, so that you can see exactly what is at each location from the Map view.

It seems like it should be feasible to do this.  My favorite career in Sims 3 is Alchemy.  When you get your skill high enough, you're given an Opportunity to bring various items to different locations.  As an example, when you need to bring in a selection of gems and metals, when you're on the Map view you can see the various locations and exactly what is located there!  This doesn't matter if you have the collection helper or not.  You don't have to zoom in or click on an item to tell the difference between gems and metals.

Does anyone know if a mod like this might exist somewhere that I've missed?  I hope I've explained well enough.  I love hunting down gems, and I wish the collection helper had an option to, say, ONLY track gems.  Or only track butterflies.  Hopefully this makes sense.
2  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Can't Open Dorm Lots on: July 13, 2010, 10:23:12 pm
Thanks for the response, Miros.

I actually ran some maintenance on my computer last night, for other reasons.  (Defrag, Disk Cleanup)  Not only has it helped my computer in general, I'm suddenly finding issues I was having with Sims 2 have vanished!  I was getting an odd error message when I would start the game (no text on the error message, just a Yes or No button to click), along with the issue of opening the dorms.  After running the maintenance, suddenly that error message is gone, and the dorms I was having problems with opened in less then a minute with no problem!

So I guess the real problem was just my poor computer in general.  heheh  (I've just set up a system to help me remember to run various maintenance type things on my computer so I can keep it healthier now.)
3  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Can't Open Dorm Lots (Resolved!) on: July 13, 2010, 01:00:39 am
Okay I'm having a problem that is really frustrating me.  When I enter my University and try to enter one of the pre-built Dorms in Build Mode, it takes so long to try and load the lot that I eventually give up on it and have to force the game to close.  I have been working on a "legacy" style game (I think that's what people call it?) where I have started with 5 couples having children, and my first in-game born generation of sims are preparing to enter college.  I wanted to take a look at the dorms before I decided where to place my young adults.  I have not yet tried to place an actual sim into one of these lots and see if I can load it that way.  After running into problems loading them, the last time I tried I actually timed it.  After 30 minutes of waiting for the lot to load, I gave up on it.

Yes, I have a lot of mods in my game, but just loading the game takes only 10 minutes, tops.  I'm used to that.  But the time it is taking to try and load the dorms is completely ridiculous!

I just wanted to come here and find out if anyone else has had this problem.  And if anyone has, have you found a way to get it to work?  I'm probably going to just build my own dorms anyways.  But I tried to check with google, and couldn't find reports of anyone else having this issue, so I thought I would ask here.

EDIT:  I just thought I would add a little info.  The dorms I can't open are from Academie Le Tour, the Lam Plaza Dormitories, and Boggs Hall Dormitories.  I can open the Romara Dormitories just fine.  I have not attempted to place any of the pre-made dorms in the lot catalog and enter those.  There's a couple other dorms already placed that I haven't tried to enter.  Don't know if that helps or not, but thought I'd add it.

My guess is they mean the structures that computer servers are stored in?  Just a wild guess.  (And I'm clueless on such things, so I'm just describing them the best I can.  lol)  I haven't seen anything like that, personally, sorry.
5  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / WCIF a Better "Get Leftovers" Display on: December 16, 2009, 06:19:02 pm
I was wondering if anyone has ever seen a mod which chnages the small window you get when grabbing leftovers from the fridge?  I would love to see one that displays more then 8 dishes at a time, perhaps even one that gives more information about the dishes you can select from.  Perhaps show information such as if it is made from fresh food (so it 'sparkles') or regular, and even the nutrition value as some dishes will fill up your sims more then other dishes.

But I would simply be happy with a mod that changes the display of the dishes to more then 8 at a time.  Generally speaking I have my sims pick out a dish that will only top off their hunger, so if they're only a little hungry they'll grab a lunch meat sandwhich, but if they're starving they'll grab something like a turkey dinner plate.  I know it's probably silly but I get tired of scrolling through the pages to find what I want.  heh

Any suggestions?
6  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Uninstall Problems on: December 12, 2009, 06:40:54 pm
Thank you, rwills.  I meant to mention before but I'm Windows XP.  So the Revo Uninstaller will work for me, and I will most likely try that next.

I was uninstalling in the right order, trying to start with Apartment Life.  When that filed to work I attempted to run Uninstall for the other expansions just to see if they would respond at all, and they weren't.  I wasn't very clear with my last post, but I didn't actually start the process of uninstalling anything.  I finally got the message to pop up asking me if I really wanted to uninstall everything, warning me that it would make my neighborhoods incompatible.  I closed that message (wish I hadn't now) and went to back up a few more files before I tried again, and discovered it wasn't working again.

And yeah, I've rebooted a few times and went straight to try and uninstall the programs and it still wasn't responding.  Just frustrating.

So I think the new Uninstaller is my next step.  I've moved my back ups to my new hard drive in a folder with a completely different name, so there should not be any reason at all for the uninstall program to remove them as well.  But I will keep my eyes open on that.

EDIT: The Revo Uninstaller worked perfect.  All expansions removed, and my back ups are still in place.  (In fact it didn't even remove the files from My Documents, probably because the default uninstall program is being so buggy.)  Now just have to reinstall everything and I'm back in business.  That Revo Uninstaller will come in very handy in the future too.  Thank you rwills.

Forgive me, I know better and should have edited yes.  Sorry.

And as it turns out I was wrong.  After deleting groups.cache I got it to respond and start the process of Uninstalling.  However, I decided to go ahead and back up a few more files first.  Did that and went back to start again with Uninstalling...  And it is once again unresponsive.  No groups.cache file to delete now.  And I am back to square one.

*starts banging her head against a wall in frustration*

Go figure!  I got to thinking about it and remembered that when my game doesn't respond when I'm trying to run it normally, I just need to delete the Groups.cache file.  So I decided to give it a shot...  And VOILA!  It's now uninstalling!  @.@  Wouldn't have figured that'd be the same problem for uninstalling the darn thing.  LOL
9  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Uninstall Problems on: December 12, 2009, 05:28:31 pm
I hope no one minds me posting this here, but I could use some help.  I recently added a new hard drive to my computer, and I want to move my Sims 2 games over to my new drive.  I've backed up my neighborhoods and downloads and such.  All that's left now is to uninstall the old version of the game.

However, when I click the Uninstall icon for ANY of my Sims 2 expansions, it does NOTHING.  I have gone through the Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.  I have used the Uninstall program in my Start menu.  I have gone directly to the folder where they are uninstalled and tried both the "eauninstall.exe" and "Sims2EP#_Uninst.exe" options.  (Replaced # with the number of the expansion.)  No matter what avenue I try, my computer just thinks for a moment and then I get nothing.  I have tried to leave it sitting for awhile in case it's just being slow, but nothing happens even after half an hour.

Has anyone else encountered this?  I have rebooted my computer and done everything else I can think of.  The only option left to me at this point seems to be to completely uninstall it manually which would include editing my registry keys.  I REALLY don't want to have to go that route.  Or else completely reformat my computer, which is something I had planned to do in the next few weeks, but I am not ready to do so yet.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
10  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / WCIF a Sims 2 mod to track income and expenses? on: September 22, 2009, 07:48:24 pm
I was wondering if anyone has seen a mod for Sims 2 that will somehow track income and expenses for a family/lot?  I've found many times my sims will sell something, pay for something, etc and I have no idea what the amount was.  And there are times I'd like to find out.  I don't know if this is something that can even be done in Sims 2, but I thought I'd check.  I think maybe there was a better way to track the Sims budget in Sims 1?  I seem to remember something like that.

I tend to make charts for myself when playing games, and one I'm working on is a list of the Seasons harvests.  I've been writing down how much you get for selling fully grown plants ready for harvest.  (Among other information.)  I could probably just find this information online of course.  But I've had times when I sell something, get distracted, and missed the little floating numbers telling me how much they got.  tongue  It'd be awfully nice to be able to find out "How much was that again?"  heh
11  Resident Creators / Mod Requests / Re: Ignore Pets and advance game speed when sims out/asleep on: January 03, 2009, 09:38:52 pm
Woops!!  I even read through the "read me first" stuff and forgot to post which expansions I have!

I have all of the main expansion, except for Bon Voyage.  Only stuff pack I have is Glamour Life.  (Not sure if you needed the last bit, but throwing it in anyways!)
12  Resident Creators / Mod Requests / Ignore Pets and advance game speed when sims out/asleep on: January 02, 2009, 01:42:51 pm
I have to say first that I used to have a mod that did this.  But sometime over the last year or so I lost it.  I've been looking absolutely everywhere in desperation to find this, and no one seems to have heard of it before, and I can't find it anywhere at all.

So I thought that maybe you might be willing to make a new version?  *looks hopeful*

All I want is for my games speed to automatically advance to game speed 3 like it does when all sims on the lot are asleep or out of the house, but ignore any pets that are awake.  I really don't need to sit there and watch my pets wandering aimlessly around the house while all my sims are asleep.

And I know...  I can just hit game speed 3 manually and wait for a sim to wake up or come home.  But I feel like I shouldn't have to.  I've never understood why Maxis didn't do this anyways.  Sad  (And at this point I think my frustration at coming up empty on finding this mod has started to override the annoyance of manually advancing the game speed while playing...  lol  ;>.> )

I know you're really busy, and can totally understand the carpal tunnel pain.  If you'd be willing to help out with this, I shall bow down and kiss the very earth you walk upon.
13  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Possible to Download Pre-sorted Collections? on: December 30, 2008, 04:39:10 am
Keep in mind that the items go into your Downloads folder as per usual, but the actual collection file (plus any accompanying image file for the collection)  goes into your Collections folder.

Oooohhh that's VERY good to know!!  Maybe that's why I've not seen them, and perhaps I have downloaded some in the past, but didn't know that I had to take that extra step!  I've never even heard that mentioned before, so THANK YOU!  ^_^

And awesome website, I'm going to check it out now!  XD  I debated posting this question in the WCIF forum, but as I wasn't even sure it was a possible feature, I posted here instead.  Cheesy
14  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Possible to Download Pre-sorted Collections? on: December 30, 2008, 02:17:19 am
Hey all,

I've been wondering...  Is it possible to download custom decor for homes that is already organized into a collection by the creator?  I hope that makes sense.  Basically I've seen a few downloads out there for matching sets of decor (wallpaper, floors, windows, furniture, etc), but I have yet to find a set that comes already placed into a "collection".  Then in order to find all the matching pieces all I'd need to do is click on the collection in the build or buy mode and find all the pieces made by that creator.  So that's lead me to wonder, IS it possible to download a set already placed into a collection?  Or do I have to do this myself?

I'd love to have that feature already in place when I download a set.  If it IS possible, does anyone know of a good place to get some sets like that?  Any good creators out there who take the time to put their sets together in a collection and offer for downloads?

And yeah, I know it's pretty easy to do this myself.  But I'm more likely to miss pieces and parts then the creator would...
