1  Welcome to insimenator.org / The Welcome Wagon / Hello there... on: July 26, 2009, 06:55:42 pm
Greetings, everyone

I'm Nette, and I'm a college-level English teacher in San Diego. I play Sims mostly as a builder - something about putting the buildings together and getting all of the details down is so soothing! I play a 1930s - 1950s game, and I love searching for vintage CC.

Short, sweet, to the point.  Grin
2  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / WCIF: Sea captain clothing & pipe on: July 23, 2009, 07:23:04 pm
Something along the lines/with the feel of this picture

Greek sea captain's hat, battered clothing, things like that. I've found these at by Sizz at MTS2 http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=275054 but I'm still looking for other things - pants, other tops, etc.

I'm also interested in the pipe as an accessory, although I suspect I may have to request it. I just wanted to post the wcif here first, just in case someone knows where one is.

Not looking for pirate stuff, just old, salty sea captain type gear.

I have all EPs.
3  Resident Creators / Mod Requests / No "be saved from death" want on: June 14, 2009, 12:29:29 am
Another want that just clogs up the want slots. Is this possible? I've searched through all of the hacks here, and haven't found where it has been requested yet. Sorry if I've missed it...

I have all expansion packs, and I think the only stuff pack I'm missing is Celebration stuff.
4  Simmers' Paradise / Objects & Recolors / carnival/fair games on: May 31, 2009, 10:59:05 pm
I'm building a boardwalk, and I remember playing games like foosball and airhockey on the boardwalk in my city when I was younger. I can't think of any animations that would allow those games, but I do think it would be possible to create a balloon darts game like you see in boardwalks/carnivals/fairs, etc. The dart board is there, the balloons from water balloon fights are there, both as full and popped (if they can be extracted), I just have no idea how to combine the two. If anyone thinks they can create something like this, it would be fantastic.

ETA: I realized it might also be possible to create a basketball hoop, backboard only, that could attach to a wall (like a picture) to play like the basketball games at the fairs. if that's not possible, maybe shortening the current basketball pole so it could fit inside of a room, like a carnie booth would have it.

Or ski-ball from the bowling alley? Just smaller? (I know I keep adding things - they're just occuring to me as I write. Sorry.)

On another note, if anyone CAN think of how to create foosball or air hockey, that would be wonderful, too!

Anyone up for the challenge? Creations for any one of these suggestions would be appreciated.
5  Simmers' Paradise / Clothing & Body Mesh's / vintage 1940's momma lisa & bear bodybuilder outfits on: May 11, 2009, 08:36:52 pm
I love my larger sims, but the clothes for these body shapes are so...modern (lots of cleavage, very tight). The only momma lisa outfit that comes close to the era I play is the tweed suit for pregnant momma lisa. And clothing for the bear bodybuilder is spare all around.

Can someone please create some more modest/vintage looking clothing for one or both of these body shapes? I would be so appreciative.
6  Simmers' Paradise / Mods & Careers / No "vacation want" mod on: May 05, 2009, 05:53:12 pm
I have BV but don't play it often, and the "go on vacation" wants clog up my want slots. I'd love a mod to correct that.
7  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / One step of modular stairs won't design on: May 02, 2009, 10:38:13 am
I've downloaded several sets of modular steps, placed the code into the scripts as usual (which has always worked before). However, all of a sudden the second step from the top of a four-step flight will not recolor, for some reason. All of the other steps are selectable with the design tool, and will change appropriately. Also, if I create more than four steps, all will recolor. Why will this one step not cooperate?? It happens on all designable modular stairs.
8  Simmers' Paradise / Objects & Recolors / Old fashioned school desk on: April 21, 2009, 08:01:15 pm
I originally posted this in the WCIF thread, so I apologize if it's...weird...to post here too. I'm relatively new and still finding my way around this forum. I didn't know the request topic was available until just now.

I'm working on a 1940's era village, and would like school desks that look like something from that period. Like this, perhaps:

BlackGarden at TSR has some single-tile desks so that's obviously a possibility, and there is a side table from Around the Sims (Atrus II collection) that is also very close aesthetically, but it's not usable as a desk and doesn't come with a matching chair.

Can this be created? Out of all of the wonderful custom content out there, I can't believe someone has resisted the temptation to make this charming desk!

9  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Game disc not working - installing CC on new disc? on: April 06, 2009, 06:15:30 pm
I have all EPs and all stuff packs, and a ton of custom content. My Mansion & Garden stuff pack simply stopped loading a couple of days ago. There is a very suspect line down the middle of the back of the disc, and one half is now darker than the other. I'm guessing this means the disc is fried.

I believe I understand what I need to do, but I wanted to check with the game masters here before actually trying it.

I think I can back up my current Sims 2 files, and uninstall my current M&G. Then install a new M&G, and just slip all of my backup content files into the appropriate place.

Is this correct, or will it not work because of a different registration code? Can I use my previous registration code with the new download? Am I completely wrong in what I need to do? If so, what is the correct way? Or have I just lost everything?
