1  The Sims 3 / Sims 3 Help / Re: An anti aging cheat for ONE sim only? on: June 03, 2009, 10:06:23 pm
That's not true.  A Sim will age when they meet the number of days required to age, birthday party or not. Sad

That is too bad.  Sorry.  They need to reword the manual.  The way it is written it is hard to tell if it is the way I mentioned or the way eciPretzel describes it.

Didn't mean to go too far.  I thought since the site hosted the inseminator mod it would be ok to discuss other mods as long as I was tasteful.

Not a new PC, so much as a new motherboard. But motherboards are tricky since they may only support certain RAM modules or certain CPU sockets, so you're pretty much right DrunkZombie.

OP: You probably need a better computer.

That was my point. Smiley  Although I guess I should have stated that.  Better CPU needs a better motherboard.  New motherboard probably means new ram.  At that point you might as well just get a new pc.  That is why when I build a new pc I sink most of my money into the motherboard and cpu.  You can easily add ram and upgrade the video card later.

So a few hours after bumbling around with my new shiny, I have decided to re-create my favorite Sim character of all time but have encountered one teeny-weeny problem:  I want my Sims to age, but I want to disable aging (at times) for my one favorite Sim.  I know you can turn off aging in the options, but I want the town and other Sims in the household to age on, just not this one particular Sim.  I'd even be happy with something to extend his adult (not elder, which is what I think the life fruit does) life.  Anyone know what I can do, if anything?  Thanks in advance!

I haven't played long enough to have someone age yet (I changed the aging speed to "Epic")  But I thought the manual stated that a sim didn't have to advance age brackets if you didn't want to.  You have to throw a birthday party for the sim to actually change age brackets.  Otherwise they will stay in their current bracket.    At least that is how I read it. Hoever I think the sims you are not controlling will change brackets as time passes.  Can anyone confirm or deny any of this?

I'd say 2 gig with XP, 3 gig on Vista.  If that is the only problem for someone then the good news is that ram is cheap.  If the problem is the video card, it could get expensive.  If its their cpu they will pretty much have to buy a new pc.

What are your system specs?

I like going to visit people that parts cool, but I would like to visit the people I created with the people I created.

You can.  Just move a copy of a family into a vacant house and you can visit them with your active family.  You could even switch your active family and play one of your other created families, while the other family continues under AI control.  Just be aware that switching active families loses their wishes/promises.  Not really a big deal as when you switch back you can get more.

I've been using the censor blur removal mod, but I'm waiting for all the talented artist out there to create some nude skins.  Removing the blur is nice but the barbi doll bodies are getting old.  I was surprised it was taking this long for the skins to come out, but if none of the modders have the game yet, that explains alot.

I'd be surprised if it would be possible at any time to get rid of the barbie skins! shocked

In TS2 the skin modding was easy, because you could just add custom skin tones to the default ones and they were graphic files. In TS3 the skins are NOT graphic files anymore. You just choose a tone and this tone gets applied on the whole sim body. Imagine it's one pixel of color that gets stretched all over - there's now way to add details into that. I noticed that especially the muscular bodies have way more detail in the mesh itself (there goes your system performance), so they don't need to add graphic detail.

So, to change that, you'd need to hack the game itself and try for a workaround. But that's not legal (see EULA). I know there are very talented modders out there, but I still can't imagine a way to do this - hey, why do you think I'm so mad at EA? Wink

When my sim takes a bath he is wearing a necklace like his bare chest "top" when wearing a swimsuit.  If he can wear a necklace, can't we just modify the top and bottom textures to have naughty bits?

I'm in Minnesota.  gogamer shipped it from California on the 28th.  Priority mail's stated timeframe is 3-5 days, so I'm guessing they tried to time it to arrive on the 2nd.  However in my experience it is usually faster than that and indeed the postal service delivered it in 2.   That is why you should always ship via the postal service! Smiley  I am a programmer for the USPS so I had to get that in there. Wink

In the past I've had other games I preordered arrive a day or two early.  That is why I don't even bother buying in stores anymore, since they sometimes don't even have the games available until late release day or the day after.  Add to that the fact that gogamer is selling sims 3 for 39.90 and with no tax, it was a no brainer to buy from them.  Even with 4.99 for shipping it was still cheaper than buying in the store.

The early arrivals don't seem to bother the publishers as it is an incentive for people to preorder.

I pre-ordered mine from gogamer.com and received it Saturday, the 30th.  I just paid for standard shipping, if I had paid for overnight I would have had it even earlier.  I figured everyone that pre-ordered got it early.  You all haven't received yours yet?  I've been playing since Saturday.
