31  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Re: Do you still play and enjoy Sims 2! on: May 07, 2011, 06:03:09 pm
Hi,
well, I got sims3 as a present from my daughter, tried to load it but got some stupid error. Than loaded it on her laptop, which worked. Tried to build some houses, struggled to get them just right. Created a sim and played a little bit, but the next time I locked in, he had a baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. This I found so not funny, I decided to leave the game.
Now with all the custom content of sims 2 and the really fantastic new body-shapes etc, I am a total sims 2 addict. Don't even ask how large my downloads folder is. I only have a very small hard drive, so once again my daughter (Bless her)  :Dgave me an external huge hard drive and after some searching on net about how to play from that drive and copying of files onto it, I am back and playing happily ever after sims 2.

How does neighborhood copy work?
I sometimes would love to change the road layout.
at the moment I am only changing the terrains a bit.
Havn't figured out how to use simPE.I do know now how to change skintones and am absolutely thrilled by it's possibilities.

To use Neighborhood Copy you need Sim City 4.

You copy your chosen SC4 terrain from your Sims 2 SC4 terrain folder into the SC4 downloads folder then open SC4 (Sim City 4).

You use the sc4 terrain in your sc4 downloads folder to create a new city (the one you just copied) then, once it's open, use Mayor Mode to add, remove or change roads in that neighborhood.

Once you're satisfied save and exit SC4.
Now, copy your changed neighborhood back into your Sims 2 sc4Terrains folder.

It'll have a different name. It'll say City - Whateveryounamedit.sc4

Rename it, removing the "City" - part of the name

As an example: I wanted to change some roads in my Queefton neighborhood so I copied the Queefton neighborhood into my SC4 Downloads folder, opened it in SC4, edited it then saved it.

After I was done I put it back in the Sims 2 SC4Terrians folder like I said but I changed the name to Queeftemp (as in Queefton Temporary) so I wouldn't get it confused with my regular Queefton SC4 neighborhood file.

I then reopned Sims 2, created a new neighborhood called Queeftemp using the modified SC4 file I'd just created.

After the game created the new neighborhood I closed Sims 2 and, after it unloaded, opened Neighborhood Copy.

In that program there's two items: "Copy From" And "Copy To"

I selected the Queeftemp.sc4 neighborhood in "Copy From" and then selected Queefton in the "Copy To" window then I unchecked all the necessary boxes so that only the roads were changed, clicked the okay button and that was it!

The next time I opened my Queefton neighborhood the roads were changed just the way I wanted them.

I know it sounds complicated but it's actually a lot easier than this description.

Anyway, I hope that answers your question.
32  Welcome to insimenator.org / Issues & Suggestions / Re: Worst Registration I've Ever Been Through! Hands down! on: May 06, 2011, 10:18:03 pm
fatedicewolf lol over at maty's or booty's I don't remember which, but it took me 5 attempts before it stopped calling me a spammer.  I believe it said, stop trying so hard to be a bran muffin. lol I'm not sure what that means but I found it amusing if only a little annoying.  Here I've never had a problem registerring, but then again I never look for fancy ways to spell my name.

Yeah, I know what you mean, Happy! MATY gave me the worst registration problems in my life!

And, I don't care about African or European swallows or that the capitol of ancient Assyria is Assur. Wink

By the way... I've long since discovered that MATY wasn't *anywhere near* worth the trouble it took me to register on that site. I've been there maybe three times in the last year and the last time I think was eleven months ago. LOL!!
33  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: residential items on community lot on: May 06, 2011, 10:04:03 pm
Actually, changing residential items into both community and residential lot usable items isn't difficult at all. It just involves using SimPE to change one number and knowing where to find it.

If you have SimPE and aren't nervous about using it's a single step and easy to do.

If you don't have SimPE you can get it here: http://sims.ambertation.de/

So, now, if you're willing here's what you do:

Simply find the package you want to change and open it in SimPE.

1: When the package opens click on the Object Data folder to open it.
2: Click on the Package Name just to the right of that.
3: Click Plug In view so you can see the Object Date package contents.
4: Now scroll down and find Catalogue Sort and click the Raw Data tab.
5: Next, click the "Decimal" radio button over on the right.
6: look at Catalogue Sorting/Community Sort. You'll see a catalogue number on the right. Double Click on the Community Sort item to highlight it. You can now change the number on the right to whatever it is now to 128. Click the Commit Button and Save and you're done!
The item you edited will now show up in both Community and Residential Lots with just one simple number change! Cheesy

34  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Re: What have you done with your default sims? on: May 06, 2011, 09:46:01 pm
Usually, what I do with my default Sims is do a make over on them using SimPE's Sim Surgery feature. It's really easy to use and I can change over an entire neighborhood in an afternoon.

I'm able to even make my playable sims into NPCs in my game.

In one case I have a female Sim who works at the local bus station. Yes, the NPC is a duplicate of the female Sim character.
As you can see in this screenshot...

Hi, Diggerdude.

I think you'll be glad to know that I play Sims 2 exclusively! I love the game and am always discovering new things about it all the time, even after literally *years* of playing it.

I also have all the EPs which sure expands it's playability a lot.

I'm glad you're discovering recoloring. I do recolors, myself, and love it. It's a great way to add special items to my game.

I also do Sims 2 Graphic Novels (rather like comic books) and I often find I have need of a recolor of this or that so it's great to know how to do that.

So, are you using Body Shop Mechanic or SimPE?

I use both and love em! Great programs and I wouldn't play the Sims 2 without 'em!

Also, do you know about Neighborhood Copy? (A way of copying modified neighborhoods from SC4 into your game so you can change road layouts on neighborhoods you already have.)

There's also Height Calculator (Which will give you the stretchskeleton numbers you need to make a Sim the exact height you want them to be in the game.)

And Lot Adjuster (for changing already existing lot sizes larger or smaller one side at a time or all sides at once.)

I better stop now before I end up creating a thread of my own out of this one post! LOL!!

Hey, glad to meet another avid die-hard Sims 2 player. Cheesy
36  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Invited Sim leaves as soon as they show up on: April 10, 2011, 11:51:34 pm
Did you check what time it was before Sim 1 called Sim 2? If it's too late then Sim 2 will turn around and leave just after arriving. A simple fix to this is to open a cheat box (CTRL+SHFT+C) and type in sethour then type in the time you want (20 would be eight p.m.). have Sim 1 call Sim 2 and invite them over again. Sim 2 should stay this time.
37  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / Re: Curved girls needs clothes.. on: March 25, 2011, 11:42:34 am
Hi!
I`m looking for the clothes from MIA`s page for booty cutie. (if any of you have them, can you pm them to me?)
And I`m looking for Momma lisa meshes 023 and 011 from Franny..
Anyone know where i can find any outwere for Momma L?

Hi, Curry.

First, you can find all of Mia's clothes for Booty Cutie at Mia Studios homepage here: http://www.mia-studios.net/

Next, you can find all of the meshes and clothes for Momma Lisa here at Franny Sims: http://frannysimsforum.com/

Note: Franny Sims was heavily spammed at one point so you'll have to scroll down past literally dozens of repeat spam entries in order to get to what you want.

You'll find the Momma Lisa clothes in various posts on the site but the meshes are all in one location. You can find everything you need through the site index page.
38  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Re: Things you've only recently discovered about the game on: March 02, 2011, 11:47:34 pm
Yes, absolutely! I'm always discovering new things in Sims 2. One of the most recent things I discovered is that I can easily reassign Adult Female outfits to Elder Females in Sim PE. That happened quite by accident when I was playing around one day in Sim PE and just out of curiosity opened up a clothing package file just to look at the "guts" of it (Which is something I really like to do, in spite of the risks involved).

While poking through the different parts I came across and opened "Property Set". Curious I looked into that and an item called "Age" caught my eye. Even more curious now I went online and began investigating the whole clothing package property set thing and it was at that time that I discovered that I could change clothing age assignments by changing the last two numbers in the property set value to the appropriate number (48 for young adults, 08 for adults and 10 for elders).

I was totally delighted by this discovery and proceeded to reassign several adult outfits for Elder use. This has turned out great because I always disliked the Maxis default elder female outfits and always felt my elder ladies could look way better than Maxis thought they should.

Another discovery in my next thread since this one's too long already.

Another fairly recent discovery was something I'd always guessed at but had not tried, before: How to make "better" elders.

I'd always hated how elders were discriminated against in Sims 2 and had always wanted to do something about that.

Being fairly familiar with Sim PE (I'm no expert by any means) I knew a Sims age assignment could be changed in the Sim overview panel so, having several elder Sims who I thought were being treated like crap I opened their files in Sim PE and, using the overview panel, changed their age assignments from Elder to Adult. Viola! All of a sudden these poor, neglected elders were being treated like regular people! Huzzah! Cheesy

It was that way that I also found I could create some very lovely and sexy Elder females as well, creating them as adults in CAS and then reassigning their ages in Sim PE overview. It's made for some truly interesting and fun sims!

41  Simmers' Paradise / Where Can I Find...? / WCIF the mod that removes the default sims from CAS? on: December 06, 2010, 03:58:29 am
Hi. I came across this some time ago and I am presently smiting myself briskly with great Chargrin for not having downloaded it.
What it is: It's a mod that removes all the game generated Sims from C.A.S., leaving only the custom made sims. I've looked through the entire mods section of MTS2 and have gone through a substantial amount of the WCIF section here and I have yet to find it.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Since your two threads were concerning the same story, they've been merged. Any new information regarding Strangetown Tales should go in one thread.

Okay, thanks. I appreciate that. Cheesy

Notice: Update: I took down the site listed below and removed the files. I did this because of a problem with the blog. The site wasn't showing up properly in Google searches. It kept showing up as a porn site! LOL!! (no, it wasn't a porn site!)
45  Simmers' Paradise / Sims Stories / Re: Strangetown Tales: The Lamp on: October 17, 2010, 01:24:03 am
The reason the story's in cbz format is because it's about 386 "pages" (each page being a panel in the story). The reason it is in cbz format is for *ease of downloading and reading*. Now to answer the person who said "there are people who are skeptical of downloading and installing programs".. LOL!! Are yo *sure* you're a Simmer? Simmers download and install CC and Sims optional programs all the time. It's part of being a Simmer. Hey, if you want to really read the files download and install the program and then download the story files and read them in the recommended way. I spent far too much time and energy creating these stories for *you* to enjoy for free. Ta for now! Enjoy the stories! Cheesy
