1  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Your Favorite Sim-killing method on: May 07, 2007, 07:59:49 pm

Be careful if you have a nanny,
Yeah, nannies are the stupidest of the stupid. I put a fence around my cow plant and locked the gate but I forgot that locks don't deter nannies. So of course the nanny gets eaten. Fortunately, a new nanny arrives to take her place so I don't have to worry about social workers showing up ... except new nanny heads straight for the cow plant before I even noticed that she was on the lot. Bye nanny! Fortunately, a parent arrived home right after that.

I kept the dead nannies around because the knowledge sims in the house want to see ghosts but the nanny ghosts never pester them, they pester the kids and keep them awake all night. Even the dead nannies are pains in the butt.

I killed a nanny with flies once. I built a little room with windows so I could watch. Put in a fireplace, dirty dishes and the nanny with moveobjects on and waited to see if she would set herself on fire, starve or die by flies first. I could never get her to light the fireplace but the flies got her before she starved.

In case you haven't figured it out, nannies are pretty much the only sims I kill on purpose. One townie (Quinten McCauley) got cow planted before I built the fence but I brought him back as a zombie because one of my sims had a want to zombie-fy him. He's actually more attractive as a zombie. I eventually moved him out to his own place and play him every so often.
2  Resident Creators / Squinge's Mods / Ghost no more making mess on: April 15, 2007, 02:48:24 pm
I installed the "no puddles" mod and that seems to work on the drowned ghost puddles. Do ghosts leave other messes I haven't noticed yet?

Would there be any conflicts between the two hacks?
3  Resident Creators / Squinge's Mods / No More Puddles on: April 04, 2007, 09:08:05 pm
I ran across this a while ago and I didn't think I needed this hack, then last night I played Olive Specter's house. After moving the grave of one wet ghost who made a tremendous mess of the lot, a new wet ghost was back the next night, so I decided I needed this hack after all.
Thanks!

Thanks for the update!

I finally got around to testing this and I am sorry to report it did not work for me either. I only had a couple families going where I could test it, one had teens in the house and the other had only the parents. Neither family were able to age the baby. I think it came up in the cue but it dropped out by the time they picked up the baby. Kind of like what happens when you forget to turn aging on when you are trying to age a baby. I did have aging on.

I still appreciate you making my request though. I hope it can be fixed.
6  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / help!!! game wont load! plzzzz! on: February 24, 2007, 01:05:20 pm
DISCLAIMER: I am no expert, I just recently had similar problems and did some research online.

First off, remove your downloads if you have any. You can pull the whole folder out to the desktop so you don't have to delete your downloads.
Go to "My Documents" -> EA Games -> The Sims 2 you should see a downloads folder. Move it to the desktop. Try to start the game, if it loads it's a bad download. If you want your downloads you'll have to carefully add them back one at a time to find the problem one - then delete that one.
There are some hack conflict detection utilities available online, however I think they miss some conflicting hacks and you have to do some manual detecting.

If that doesn't work, go to The Sims 2 folder as above and delete the file "Groups.cache". The game will recreate this file and if there's a corruption in that file it may be what's keeping things from loading correctly. Deleting a game file sounds scary but I did it and my game works fine now. I found this recommendation online but I was searching so many places I can't remember where I found it, possibly here or MTS2.

Mine was loading through most of the intro and then closing back to the desktop. This was after a had reinstalled after a bad download corrupted the game. Apparently, it was still corrupted and deleting the Groups.cache fixed the problem. I was all set to start pricing new video cards, too.

Good luck!

ETA: Here's a link to another thread here that talks about deleting the groups.cache file. That must have been where I saw the info.

7  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Stop Playing My Piano And Get Out! on: February 23, 2007, 11:06:28 am
I had this happen too and I noticed that the Sim that showed up was always a parent of a child that had visited and left earlier. I think it may be a glitch related to the behavior where a parent comes to pick up their child who has stayed to late at their friend's house, they always just let themselves in when that happens. But in this case the kid left long ago and the parent has shown up very late at night. I never found a fix for it, if they really annoyed me I'd just "moveobjects on" and delete them (it doesn't get rid of them permanently). I recently started over and haven't had enough kids visiting to see this again.

I'm happy to see a mod I requested! I'm willing to test it out.
9  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / How many Angelina Jolie Sims do we need? on: October 22, 2006, 09:50:29 am
I don't see the big deal.

I actually made my own Angelina but not because I like her. I wanted to have a family to raise a couple townie sims so I could grow them up for some of my other sims that know them. I figured since Angelina is so big on adopting I'd make a Brad and Angelina and let them raise a couple townies and have a few of their own and maybe torture them a little, too. I just made vague representations of them but I think my Angelina does resemble the real deal, Brad not so much. Unfortunately, even though my Brad and Angelina aren't unattractive, their children are some of the ugliest sims I've ever seen. They will all have to make use of the plastic surgery machine when they grow up.

Anyway, to each his own.
10  Resident Creators / Squinge's Mods / Move Away From Fridge Before Feeding Baby on: October 04, 2006, 11:03:17 pm
This is great. I get tired of someone going to feed the not hungry baby and standing in front of the fridge forever when I am trying to get some poor starving sim to eat. Not to mention trying to get 2 sims to feed 2 babies when  one sim is hogging the fridge.

These are beautiful! Thanks! I may as well sign off now and try it out because I forgot what other item I was looking for.

you can put toddlers in the oven?lol i never knew that now i am going to have to try that next time i get a real ugly toddler(doesn't happen very often)

...

Well, nothing really happens to them but it's amusing to see their little face peeking out of the oven window or have mom making dinner and popping it into the oven and not notice junior sitting in there.

Moving them around with MoveObjects On can be a little dangerous though. I have had them freeze up or merge with their parents or some other object and I usually have to exit without saving. So I always make sure to save before I torture the little buggers.
13  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Do you like to ruin your sims lives? on: August 31, 2006, 12:12:50 am
I killed my first nanny today. I've tried before but I usually get tired of their whining and not dying that I finally let them leave. Well, today I wanted to see if I could have my vampire sim bite Kendal Lawson because I wanted to then trap the annoying nanny out in the sun and watch her burn up. It wasn't an option for vampire Brandi to bite her so I had her son influence her to bite her.

Well, the first time I tried Kendal kept trying to harass the babies and toddlers and it eventually dropped out of Brandi's queue. So I tried again another time and this time she tried to bite her and Kendal waved her off. So then I had Brandi "bleh!!" her repeatedly to scare her and she kept wetting herself but not dying. So I finally just boolproped and chose to kill her by flies - it seemed appropriate since she was stinky.

The Grim Reaper showed up but no one pleaded for her and we sold her ashes for a dollar. I'm going to keep the tombstone though as a reminder to any other nannies unless she comes back as a ghost and is even more annoying than she was when she was alive ... I wonder if I can kill her again if that happens?

I always end up fencing in nannies to keep them from pestering the babies and toddlers and serving desserts. If they still keep psychically waking up the sleeping toddlers then I'll use my mind control mirror and multi-painting to drop their energy to zero so they'll sleep in their little nanny pen.

I haven't killed or let any other sims die yet but I sometimes punish them when they don't do what I tell them to do. I usually make them do stuff they don't like to do, like cleaning or walk around stinky for a while. When toddlers get too whiny I like to use "moveobjects on" and put them inside things (like the oven) or top of things like the counters. I once put a toddler in the oven while his mother was cooking, she didn't even notice.

I wasn't really fond of Angela Pleasant, I like Lillith better. It seemed like Angela was the instigator of their poking/slapping/fighting sessions more often than Lillith. So I got InTeen and got Angela knocked up with twins by Dustin Broke, who's gone off to college without her and is now playing the field. She may not get to go to college because she was a foolish girl who was always antagonizing her sister.

I was playing the Calliente sisters for the first time the other day and Don Lothario invited Nina downtown. Well, Dina kept trying to get in the taxi and I couldn't stop her. I knew it would not be good but when they got out of the taxi he had Cassandra Goth and Kaylynn the maid with him, too. What a doofus! So he hugs Nina (a friendly hug) and all the other girls are instantly furious with both Don and Nina but Cassandra starts picking on Nina and lets Don wander off. So I had Nina kick Cassandra's butt. Later Don showed up at the sister's house so I had Dina kick his butt. I don't really like Dina so I don't think I'll let her end up with rich old Morty, but I haven't decided what to do to her yet. Cassandra's annoying, too, she's definitely not getting Darren but I don't know if I want her to marry Don either.

But other than that, I am mostly nice to my sims.

Good idea, those things are as big as their heads, they should be more filling.
