Have you read the message Rod Humble sent in March to the community? he clearly states that the game will not have a DRM method such as SecurROM and the game can be installed via a serial code on the back of the manual such as all TS2 games to date and will NOT require an online authentication to either play or register but just in-case you didn't get to read it all through here is the link

I do like the sound of that... to an extent... But at the same time, I am preparing myself for the *possibility* that when they say "The game will have disc-based copy protection – there is a Serial Code just like The Sims 2" they would not be lying if it were Sims 2: BV (and later.)
I have TS3 CE on pre-order... just because I guess I am a sheeple to the extent of wanting the damn game so bad... lol But, after being "burned" with SecuRom in the Sims 2.. and the fubar situation that became Spore (yep, bought the Galactic version of that, too,) I still expect to get raked over the coals with TS3. I truly do want to support the 'legit' makers of the games I play. As was mentioned earlier... we are in a recession. And that affects all of us. The devs of the game need a paycheck just as much the next guy, and I just can't seem to wish them 'ill' ... you know? I bought each TS2 EP and SP (with the exception of Celebration,) but I was using the community created hacks to circumvent their SecuRom crap.
That being said... I still frequent the Booty... and don't agree with the "Paysite Mentality" that has been a battle in TS2... and disheartened greatly with how TS2.com dealt with the TSR/MTS2 fiasco... The TS2Store... the new "lockdown" of TS3. If the TS2 EULA weren't worded the way it is, I probably wouldn't use the booty. No garantees on what the new EULA is gonna say.
I'm torn... I think I am aware of what to expect.. and it makes me feel kinna shitty that "knowing what I know" I'm still plopping 'top dollar' down for the stuff.... Is this what its like to be a drug addict?? lol
