1  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Losing Simming Motivation on: May 02, 2008, 04:30:14 pm
Ever since the annoncement that TS3 is coming out. I have lost motivation to play the Sims! Has anyone else been going through this?
2  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / The Sims Outdoor Life on: April 28, 2008, 07:53:16 pm
Okay I have brought up farming and spirtuality without contreversy (oddly enough). Now I am going to bring up an "Outdoor Life" EP. Yes we have camping in BV but I would like to see more aspects of outdoor recreation brought to the fore. I know people have thier misgivings about what I am going to talk about but somepeople do this for recreation. Okay here we go!

I would like to see hunting, archery, skeet shooting, firing ranges and other stuff as an expansion to camping.

The hunting could handled the same way that fishing is in Seasons where the animals shows up in the Sim's inventory and either the Sim can prepare a meal based on that of chose to "mount" it the same way fish are (deer heads on the wall and what not). Different hunting bage levels could unlock different hunting implements the same way the different levels of fishing opens up different fishing implements. Anyway the "slaughter" need not be shown.

Also, boating expeditions where saltwater fishing (or crustacean catching)can be accomplished would be a nice addtion.

So who would be interested in THIS as an EP and would you add anything to what I suggested?
3  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Spirituality of The Sims on: April 27, 2008, 08:05:29 am
DISCLAIMER: I know that this is somewhat of a sensitive subject but we can all discuss this in a mature fashion.

I would like to see some sort of "spiritual life" for the Sims. It could provide a way to network with people as well as be a mood booster. Certain ceremonies could also be held in the place of worship (marriages and what not). Having a "wild card" to help your Sim out occasionaly to represent a "miracle" would be great too!

The problem would be, how do we simulate this without insulting anyone? Considering that Christianity alone has several denominations that are so different from each other that represent a clergyman in a Catholic priest's outfit would bother Protestants and not having said garb would upset Catholics and let's not even begin talking about religions other than Christianity!

One sloution would be to represent ALL religions (good luck with that) and have the sims go to the church of the players choice. Logistically, that could be a nightmare! The only way that would work (in my opinion) is to have the choice on which religion(s) to bring into your game (if any). That way if you want to have an all based town, you can. If you would prefer to have a myriad of religions, you can do that as well. Finally, if you don't want to deal with spirituality at all, you can completely leave it out.

The other solution would be to make a generic place of worship and the player could pretend it is whatever religion that he or she imagines.

Better yet make it generic but the player can have clergy (and others) wear whatever traditional garb of his/her religion. That way the player could still have the religion of his/her choice without anyone being offended.

Thoughts (be respectful)?
4  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Farm Life EP on: April 26, 2008, 07:50:59 pm
I have said several times that I'd like to see some sort of farming EP. I doubt it will happen for TS2 but I could always have hopes for TS3. Who among you would be interested in such a thing? Also, if interested, what aspect of "country living" would you like to see? No comments about romantic interactions with farm animals, please! Wink
5  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / What families would you like to see in TS3? on: April 02, 2008, 08:47:16 pm
With people on both sides of the fence as fara as looking forward or not looking forward to TS3 coming out I am curious about something. Let's just suppose that (regardless of your feelings of TS3) you ARE going to get TS3. What would families (from TS1 or TS2) would you like to see make a return in TS3?
I'd (probably like a lot of fans) Would like to see the Goths return. However I dont want to see a timeline advance and have Mortimer already passed away and no chance of Bella coming back. No, I want to see Mortimer and Bella together again, Cassandra as a teen, and Alexander as a child. Of course the BEST thing would be to have all of the original TS1 families make a comeback.
So, what about you? Who would you like to see in TS3 and why?
6  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Clarification about TS2: FT on: March 16, 2008, 04:58:08 pm
Does anyone have any inside information as to whether Free Time is going to be the last EP of The Sims 2 line or is there another EP on the horizon before The Sims 3? I know there has been speculation both ways but does anyone know anything "official" ?
7  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / What I'd like to see in The Sims Franchise on: November 10, 2006, 09:31:54 pm
- More "mix and match options" for clothing. Examples: Choosing which  tie/shade of hose/color of socks to wear(and what not), if at all? Being in various states of dressing/undressing by sims adding and removing layers as mood/occasion/season dictates (such as, Sims kicking off their shoes after a hard day at work and walking around the house in bare/stockinged feet with the outfit that they are currently wearing).

- Jewlery. Have that necklace/bracelet/ring/watch be a seperate thing from the outfit.

- Make up options to include manicures/pedicures. One can decide the type of polish (for both finger and toes) and nail length (for fingers only obviously).

- Crudeness level adjustment. I occasionally play TS2 with my grand daughter and I would like a way for babies to happen the way they did in TS1 for when " youngins' " are playing and go to the "real way" when the " not so youngins' " play. Though I don't imagine that will ever be included as an option.

-First person perspective. That would give a new dimension to gaming.

-Going to a sim's job. It would be nice to actually go to a sim's job and do some stuff there. Better yet, have an option to either keep it where time goes fast in the Sim's house while they're away to work or go to the sim's work. On second thought, that's a silly idea!

-Options for making clothes as a cheaper alternative to buying them.

-Middle age life stage: That could be used as a prerequisite for certain upper job levels.

-Buying Stocks/other investments: This could be used to increase a Sim's retirement pension aside as well as paying dividends in game by putting money aside (inspired by the Milton Bradley game "Life"). Perhaps even choose the riskiness of investments that have proportional rewards for success (id est: High Risk offers High Reward Medium Risk offers Medium Reward and Low Risk offers Low Reward).

-Getting back to the "middle-aged" life-stage...
Here is an idea. If a sim has a degree that is applicable to his/her career field (or any degree at all) then that sim can "take an early retirement" at the middle age (for half income as normal) or wait until they are elders and take a "full retirement" (making the same amount of money as they did when that were working). As in real life, this gives a sim incentive to go to college.

Thoughts?
