1  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Re: The I Confess Unholy Confessions Thread Rofl. on: December 23, 2008, 09:29:51 am
I made a pair of roomies with totally opposite personalities, used Insim to make them fall in love with the same female sim, moved her in, then turned free will back on. Oh, and I left Jealousy On.  Fun.  Oh, did I mention only one bedroom?

You need to switch nabes first, and THEN go back and delete.  Or restart the game.  But it's pretty easy to do.

what is the free will  i have heard of it being turned on and off but what does it do???

When free will is off, you have total control of your sims.  They will take no autonomous actions (except farting, for some reason).  Doesn't work for visitors, buit if you use InSim to control visitors, then free will is off for them as well.
4  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / LARGETS SIMS 2 FAMILY on: October 07, 2008, 09:27:13 am
Large families are tough for me to control because I play with free will turned off, so I end up with several sims staring at the wall. But I did have sort of a commune/cult household I tried once with a female sim and her adult son who "took in" all the neighborhood teens.  I think at one time there were 14 kids living there, so that made a household of 16.  It would have been impossible without InSim.. imagine getting 14 kids and 2 adults off to school/work on time without the Motive monitor.  The most fun, tho, was when we had TWO fires simultaneously.  I didn't know that was possible.  It DID reduce the population by two, though.  Tragic.  But funny.
5  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Do you like to ruin your sims lives? on: August 06, 2008, 10:11:36 pm
Well, my life is such a misery that I try to make my sims comfy, rich, happy, and of course they all f**k like the proverbial bunnies.  And when it's time to whack 'em, I do it quickly (satellite is my method of choice).  No, I don't torture them, but I do turn 'em into perverts.  But they seem to like that.
6  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / The Famous Reticulating Splines Text. on: May 20, 2008, 07:20:14 am
A "spline" is the junction of two polygons.  "Reticulation" refers to relative angle or overlap of two or more polygons.  These terms mean slightly different things in mathematics, engineering, and even fashion design.  In SimCity 2000, the program created a template for a new city by fillling a plane of a certain size with polygons and then "reticulating" them along the edges to form a 3D terrain - slopes, hills, valleys, etc., according to sliders set by the user.  If you didn't like the result, you could redo it until the game came up with something you liked.  While this was going on (only took a few seconds), a sexy female voice suggestively cooed "reticulating splines" in the background.  It sounded cool, so cool that people commented on it, and so Maxis apparently decided to keep it as a running joke in its other "Sim" game, this one.

Actually, Jase439's definition of spline is more accurate than mine, but lots more boring. LOL

8  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Townies?!? on: April 21, 2007, 11:06:33 pm
Another note....  The "deleteallcharacters" cheat indeed deletes all characters, even those in the Family bin, BUT.... not those in packaged lots.  So if you wish to whack all the townies from a populated nabe, package the lots first and when the townies are wiped, go to occupied section of lots and houses bin and put your families back.  This method will prevent new townies from generating unless you put down more new lots, but you will get a new set of NPC's, again, as needed.  Neat.
9  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Townies?!? on: April 21, 2007, 11:02:08 pm
Both of those methods work....HOWEVER.... the game continues to generate townies and NPC's "as needed'.   Which means every time you place a new lot in the neighborhood, a new townie will be generated (and come a'calling, sooner or later.)
10  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / What would you do if you woke up inside The Sims 2?! on: April 19, 2007, 05:16:15 am
I'd buy one of them $6,000 cars (LOL), get nude, drive downtown, and spend the rest of my life drinking and woohooing.... and, of course, periodically refreshing my "motives".  Heh heh heh.
11  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Sim won't do dishes on: April 09, 2007, 09:57:39 pm
I used the propose/move in option (she is married as well).  And everyone else can wsh dishes... o wait, i dont have a sink..or a dishwasher, I have a woodstove I got from MTS that serves as an all-purpose dishwasher, cookstove and garbage disposal...hmmm.....
12  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Sim won't do dishes on: April 09, 2007, 08:29:36 am
Nope, she just won't touch 'em.  When selected, I can't even click on the dirty dishes.  She cleans everything else.  I have tried "influencing" her to clean, and she does the toilets and cleans the fishtank, but doesn't touch the dishes.  Hmmm.  I checked her personality, and yes, she is abysmally lazy, but the neatness score is at 5. Not a big problem, since she doesn't live alone, but I was curious to know if anyone else has such a recalcitrant Sim.  By the way, she started her Simlife as a maid who moved into one of my lots, so perhaps that may be a contributing factor.
13  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / My sims can't pay bills on: April 09, 2007, 08:20:26 am
Ooohhh, I didnt know about the autopay option, I will have to search for it.  Anyways, I have had that problem, too.  It seems that when using InSim to summon visitors to a lot, or to delete them, the game doesn't always recognize them as "gone."  So there will be  a chair you can't sit in or an object you can't use, etc.  The "move_objects" cheat cures this, but when there's a ghost by the mailbox that method won't work.  So what I did was summon a vistor and then used "say goodbye to everyone."  That worked, but I don't know why.
14  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / I think I fried my video card... on: January 22, 2007, 05:07:25 pm
Oh.  Sorry, you apparently have some other issue then, and I wish i could help.
15  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / I think I fried my video card... on: January 21, 2007, 04:27:27 pm
No, your card isn't "fried".... it still functions.  This is a situation that occurs frequently, especially with cards using the nVidia chipset.  What causes it, no one has yet satisfactorily explained, but the easiest "solution" is when the screen begins to flash, minimize to desktop, wait for reset, then maximize again.  That will correct whatever arcane memory/cache problems your card can't seem to figure out until you turn off or restart your comp.  BTW, this eccentricity is not limited to Sims, as I have experienced the same routine with WoW as well.
