1  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / What is the most surprising thing that your Sims have ever done? on: February 19, 2008, 07:37:23 am
I'm always surprised when they look at me.  I never expect it.

YOu can use SimPE to change the lot zoning.  I did this and have been playing for several days with no problems. Back up your files before you start. If you need instructions on how to do this I posted a message on Yahoo with instructions.

I saw your post over at the yahoo board and followed it and am greatful for your help.  I don't think the game would be as rich as it without being able to play on the lots.  Thank you!

Here are a few of my conversions:

3  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Wanna dance? on: October 19, 2007, 08:29:37 am
If you really want to learn a local dance, make sure there's a real stereo not just speakers on a lot, make a local sim selectable and have them Dance-hula or slap dance depending on where they are.  Once they've started dancing, have your sim "Join" whatever dance they're doing.
4  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / empty plates not selectable on: October 19, 2007, 08:24:25 am
For the sims that can't clean up the plates, just moveobjects on, delete the sim, moveobjects off, save the lot and exit to the neighborhood.  When you go back to the lot, the deleted sim will be by the mailbox and should be able to clean up the plates.
5  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Neighborhoods / My second SC4 Terrain for even more flat beach lots on: October 17, 2007, 12:15:45 pm
Sleepycat, your beach lot neighborhoods are gorgeous!  But there's a problem.  Did you try putting an existing beach lot in your neighborhood or did you just use empty lots?  I tried putting the Potterhouse Bungalows lot on the Green Lake and Sandbar1 neighborhood and it would not place anywhere in either of those hoods.  I don't make my lots from scratch, I usually use an existing lot and was very sad I could not use either of your hoods.  But if you change anything on them, I'll be very happy to give them a whirl, they look like they'll be super fun to play!

You have to reset dancing skill

mouseclick+[SHIFT] on stereo in debug mode to choose the option.

What if they're dancing outside with the speaker and no stereo?  How do you get them to dance then?  My sims start to dance, then jump out of it.

try buying the mailbox and trashcan while in Build mode

That doesn't work either.

I do have replacements, but somehow they won't leave the buy-window and go to my cursor, if you know what I mean. Besides, my sims don't appear on the lot either.

The buyable mailbox/trashcan collection does not work for BV, that's why it can't be moved to the game.  I have been haunting sites hoping someone would update the buyable mailbox/trashcan.  I have all the BV lots in my lots bin and no mailbox to set by the door. :-|
8  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Sims wont go home on: September 12, 2007, 07:45:28 am
Quote from: Linda41258;930030
I have the same problem. Two Sims stuck on a vacation lot in 3 Lakes. Had 2 vacations, stayed in their own vacation homes, first time in Twikki (SP?) this time in 3 Lakes. All custom content removed, hacks/mods gone, nothing except Maxis straight out of the box. I got the message that the time was up on their vacation and that transportation had been dispatched and would arrive shortly. Never did. I had both Sims at different times call to end the vacation and go home, they did the conversation, then just hung up. No jump bug or anything, they just hang up the phone with no message of transportation or anything. Any ideas are welcome and thanks.

What I've done for my "stuck" sims is go to a neighborhood family, use the InSim Objects version "Summoner" to summon the sim then using the boolprop tombstone of L&D move them in with the family.  Then move that sim back out.  When they go to their own home (minus any furniture) shortly after they arrive, the shuttle arrives as if to drop them off then it will drive away.

The vacation home/hotel will no longer work, it will have to be bulldozed and replaced.  Before I started playing, I put all my favorite hotels in my lot bin so I have plenty of extras.  This did work for me, I was able to salvage my sims, otherwise, I don't know what I would have done to get them out of vacationland.

From what I've been reading at other forums, there is a corruption of sims that have been edited that is happening because of the memories of the sims that go on vacation.  I'm sure they'll come up with a fix soon, specifically for those that use SimPE to edit their sims that have gone on vacation.
9  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Dirty Dishes on: September 06, 2007, 01:03:55 am

I agree, both ways work.  It's always nice to have options Smiley

Next time I have a dirty dish that can't be cleaned up, I'll pay a little more attention to how things are working.  Oh, there may be a third option with Insim's Deleter.  I keep forgetting about that way....

I used to have that alot when I first got Nightlife.  I always just used moveobjects on/off to delete the sim that couldn't wash the dishes and after exiting the house, then returning, the sim seemed to be reset and was able to do the dishes.
10  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Is there a cheat in which I can pick out the gender of the baby on: August 21, 2007, 10:08:27 am
As I mentioned in my previous post, I haven't had a chance to really check it out but in case it does work, it's worth a shot for those trying to control the gender of their children.  I should know more by this weekend.
11  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Second Sims 2 Game on: August 21, 2007, 08:11:16 am
When my son was playing the Sims2, he had his own desktop(user account) on my computer.  He would have his own folder in My Documents, different from mine.  It worked out well, because he tried more hacks than I did and I didn't want his hacks in my game.  It worked just fine except it took way too much room on my hard drive.  When he lost interest in the game, I just deleted his account and got the space back in my hard drive that I needed.

If you need to know how to set up a separate user account, just let me know.
12  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Is there a cheat in which I can pick out the gender of the baby on: August 21, 2007, 08:01:59 am
I've been experimenting with this one:

intProp chanceofboy 100

I plug it in the neighborhood when I start the game, I haven't had enough sims actually give birth yet, I'm building to that point, so when they start popping out the little critturs, I'll know more about just how this cheat works.  I might even go ahead and try it in the family just before they give birth.

This is the one for girls:

intProp chanceofgirl 100

When I start my game, in the neighborhood screen, I use:

boolprop controlpets on
boolprop petactioncancel true
boolProp allow45degreeangleofrotation true
intProp chanceofboy 100--I play a predominantly male game

Now something I did notice, was when I was in the CAS and had a couple and was making a toddler from the two of them, everytime I clicked on the toddler, it was always a boy, I had to use the "girl" button for the toddler to be a girl, so maybe the cheat does work, I'll know in a few days lol

*************

One more thing, I remembered.  I used INSim to get an adult sim pregnant by a teen sim.  I do not use the InTeeninator.  When the adult sim had the baby, it always came out a girl, even with the cheat plugged in.  I didn't want a girl because I was hoping to get the skin of the father (a teen).  So before the baby was born, I went over to play the teen, grew him up and then let the baby be born and right off the bat, the first baby, was a boy, so that might have had something to do with it.  If you're using INSim to get your sims pregnant it might not work right.  For instance, if you used the Grim Reaper as the father, the cheat might not work.

Well, I did that and the game now runs fine!

That is wonderful news!  I really know how frustrating it is when your game is messed up.  I think every new computer I've gotten has been because I broke the old one on a sims game.

Another useful cheat is boolprop allow45degreeangleofrotation true

I plug that one in the beginning of my game when I do the boolprop for the pets.  Wink  Another one you can use to have your objects placed anywhere you want on the walls or floors is boolProp snapObjectsToGrid true/false  You want to use the false to place your object but then you must use the true when you're finished same goes for moveobjects on/off.

Do you know how to find out what video card you have?  If not, just go to your desktop and you'll see all your icons.  RIGHT click on your My Computer icon and go to Properties.  A window will pop up and it will be your System Properties.  Find the tab that says Hardware.  Click on that and then you'll look for a button that says Device Manager.  Click on that.  Then you'll see a list, that is all the hardware you have installed on your computer.  Look for "Display Adapters" and click on the + in front of the monitor that says Display Adapters.  You'll see your video card.  Then you'll go to the manufacturers site and you can then close out of the device manager.  If it's an ATI (mine is a Radeon) go here:

http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html

If it's Nvidia go here:

http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

Once you're there, find the driver that supports your card and download it.  Most drivers are all self installing now so once you have downloaded the driver, the rest is easy EXCEPT once your driver is downloaded; DO NOT install it right away.  Just know where the download is!  Then go to your start button then settings then control panel and go to Add/Remove software and click on that icon.  Look for your video card driver and click on it and select remove then remove that old driver.  You should be prompted to reboot.  If not, reboot anyway.  When your computer starts up, it will be weird because you don't have a video driver but then just go to where your download is and go ahead and install the new video driver, also, after you have rebooted, turn off your anti virius program, it's best if that's shut off while you install your new driver.  You'll be promted to reboot again.

If this doesn't work, you'll have to uninstall and reinstall your sims game.  Good luck to you!  I've had a lot of weird stuff happen with my game but I've never seen anything like your screenshot.  I hope you find out what happened to your game.
