tia - then your game has become corrupted some how.  This usually is the result of extensive game play, even on the best computers this happens.  Usually this requires either a complete uninstall - reinstall to remedy. And like they said, typing in all capital letters is not cool.
80  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / what exactly is groups.cache? on: April 16, 2008, 12:16:16 am
groups.cache is a part of the game's content catalogue. It severs as the master index of the catalogue.  The content catalogue is comprised of several files that include the thumbnail packages ( and in Pets EP and later EPs accessories.package )

There is a similar file used for the catalogue in BodyShop: cigen.package - this file differs from the in-game catalogue in that all the various parts are all contained in this single file.

kacidama - an expression of corporate prevarication and greed? but seriously, Rod Humble and other EA big-mouths said that Free Time was the last EP, but like kattenjin said in the AL discussion thread:

Heck, if you got a cow that's still giving milk, why kill it?

There are 10 EP slots in the base game - so it stands to reason that EA may have planned to use all 10 or equally likely the EA may have simply used 10 since it is a nice big number.  Only time will tell.

At the time of that post - the official statement from EA's mouth-pieces was Free Time was the last EP.  Rod Humble himself said:
Quote from: Rod Humble
Its not complicated, we are actually launching less skus (Stock Keeping Units) this year than last.

For the Sims 2 game there is no news apart from the wonderful Freetime (you can be a gamer in it for crying out loud, why do you hate gamers?). Thats it for the Sims 2 in terms of new stuff. For Sims 3 there will be new information soon.

This certainly gave everyone high and low the confirmation that FT was indeed the last EP.

84  Simmers' Paradise / Sims Life Stories Help / Installing downladed sims in TSLS? on: April 14, 2008, 07:30:45 pm
Biarritz - first go to this thread: http://www.insimenator.org/showthread.php?t=64570

download the Life Stories bonus items and install them - this will create a downloads folder after the next run of the game.

The downloads folder will be located in your documents folder:

~(My) Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims Life Stories\Downloads

Now use SIms2Pack Clean Installer to extract (Install) the downloaded sims to a custom location and browse to the LS downloads folder and install

DO NOT use the "Downloads" default location!  This is The Sims 2 Downloads NOT The Sims Life Stories Downloads!

remember to enable custom content! exit the game, then start the game again and leave custom content enabled - then your downloaded sims will appear in the sim bin (Castaway Stories does not have a Sim Bin)

90  Simmers' Paradise / Content Creation & Recoloring Help / How To Offer Clothes without The Sim? on: April 11, 2008, 09:52:04 pm
Kivak

When you complete a new Body SHape project, the final version of the file is saved in the SavedSims folder

~(My) Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\SavedSims

When you started the project you gave the project a name, for our illustration, let's use MyNewClothes

Youw would then look in the SavedSims folder for a new file named something like 12345678_MyNewClothes.package - in the part of the file name 12345678 you will find a random arrangement of the following numbers and letters:

0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 A B C D E F

The complete file is ALWAYS in the SavedSims folder - never in the Projects folder, BodyShop saves a sort of "open project" version there that does not work.

If you aren't sure which is which in the SavedSims folder - you can make a sim in BodyShop, save it to your desktop, then extract only the "clothing" category items to a safe location to create your ZIP/RAR file (just uncheck everything but the clothing and install to the folder you are using for the ZIP/RAR - be sure to delete the "extra" .package that Sims2Pack Clean Installer adds to the name)
