Retired Creators / Square Pegs: Le tiroir du bas / The Heretical Crown of Thorns
on: September 13, 2007, 04:05:06 pm
So, I was sitting here thinking about crusades for and against things, and all the people who want to "save" us from this or that, and I said to myself, "you know what they do to Messiahs..." and it struck me, that all the people that have this ideation of being messiahs to the Sims community needed some little token of my esteem.... AND LO! The Crown of Thorns Accessory! In keeping with the general sexual bias of Messiahs, this item is made for Young Adult Males, Adult Males, and Elder Males only. Enjoy! WARNING! Stigmata not included! Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are a separate download. Evil Geniuses Inc. is not responsible for Mel Gibson movies or broken seals.

Sims 2 Community Downloads / Male Hair / For SynapticSim, Halo 2 MC Helmet (Hair)
on: September 11, 2007, 09:10:23 pm
Dedicated to the Master of Sim Superheroes, SynapticSim! The actual Halo 2 MC model by John Vidziunas, free for use with credit. Converted for use with The Sims 2 by beosboxboyI was looking through all my bajillion models on my back-up drive and saw this and read my notes. And I said, "Precious, why haven't we made this for the Sims 2 yet?" So, 20 minutes later, here it is. I will eventually convert the body portion... but that looks like considerably more than 20 minutes of work >_< The hair is a clone of the base-game "Fargo" fur-lined cap; I did not alter the settings in the file, so the hair will switch to a hat-less state when you change to swim and such. The colours all match for the various ages and the hair packages are colour-binned. The glass portion is not recolourable; if different colours are desired, I can see what can be done to change that; but in the interest of keeping the files simple, the mesh uses an eye-glasses lens as the basis for the face plate. Only the Young Adult, Adult, and Elder Male use the helmet as shown in the preview.Credit:Original 3D GameStudio mesh and texture by John Vidziunas

Retired Creators / The Post-Modernist Collection / Dizi's Requested "Brain in a Bell Jar" - CEP Required
on: September 10, 2007, 01:02:48 pm
As requested by Dizi... What evil genius or mad scientist laboratory is complete without a collection of brains? Now your demented sim master-mind can study the best way to manipulate his (or her) soon-to-be opressed slaves in the comfort of the lair! The discerning future master of the world knows variety is the key, so every effort has been made to offer as wide selection of brains ranging from abnormal to genius! Here at Evil Geniuses, Inc. we go the extra effort! Warning: Evil Geniuses Inc. makes no claims to the lawfulness with which these brains were liberated from their previous owners... you asked for a brain, we contacted Carl. We don't ask questions, and neither should you. Nota Bene: In the interest of making this base-game compatible, I didn't bugger-up the coding to make it placable on OFB shelving. An alternative version can be made by anyone who wants to make the changes.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / The Sims 2 Teen Style Stuff Pack rant
on: September 01, 2007, 06:18:17 am
Ok, after taking a good long look at the screen shots on the official site, I have to say that EA is really dragging rivers for bodies on this one.
Not a thing in it did I see that wasn't already made (and usually better) by many of the free artists in the Sims Community. I strongly advise all of your purchasing addicts to stay clear of this one and turn your support to the many free artists in the community that were obviously ripped off to fill the CD for The Sims 2 Teen Style Stuff Pack.

Retired Creators / Square Pegs: Le tiroir du bas / *MESH* "Rain" Sunglasses requested by dream_like_days
on: June 24, 2007, 10:04:55 am
REQUESTED BY DREAM_LIKE_DAYSOriginally requested in this post. Special thanks to dream_like_days for making this request; also thanks goes out to quaxi, Wes_h, and demon432 for their indispensable tools. This mesh works for male and female, child through elder. The recolour was made with Seasons EP installed (no Pets) and should be all versions friendly. The version is not identical in every regard, but was the best I could do without turning it into a major high-poly horror that might not work on many systems. I have no policy for this item - post it where you want, recolour it, clone it, whatever. Just enjoy.

Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 FAQ's / FAQ: What is a package file?
on: June 12, 2007, 11:51:16 pm
WHAT IS A .PACKAGE FILE?
A .package file is a sort of compressed data file not very unlike a ZIP file with an XML wrapper (techno-babble for saying there is uncompressed information beside the compressed data). Like any data file, a variety of software will be able to "read" it (e.g., SimPE, WooHoo, et al.). Only if you double click a .package file should it start whatever software is assigned to it by its file-type programme association, and in this case there's not much to be done with it outside the game for the common user. Generally, all one ever need do is manually move it to the Downloads folder, unless one is a custom content maker.
The .package file format is a sort of DBPF file used by a variety of EA/Maxis games (i.e., SimCity 4, The Sims 2, and The Sims Online) for content to be added to the various games. The format is call a DBPF file not because of the extension (as in most cases) but because the first four bytes of all such files are "DBPF."
Like many game data formats, the file is actually an archive of several files that store the various pieces of data used by the game. These may include graphics, 3d models, animations, sound files, and scripts. The extensions used for this format as used by the various EA/Maxis games are:
• .dat (Data provided with the SimCity 4, user downloadable plugins/mods for SimCity 4) • .SC4Model (User created building models for SimCity 4) • .SC4Lot (User created lots for SimCity 4) • .SC4 (Savegame file provided with SimCity 4, User created savegame files for SimCity 4) • .package (Data provided with The Sims 2, user downloadable plugins/mods for The Sims 2)

Simmers' Paradise / Mac-Users Only Peer Support / Getting past the 2000/11800 file limit
on: June 10, 2007, 08:51:12 pm
The Aspyr version of The Sims 2 in an un-patched state with no expansion packs has a 2000 download file limit. the only way to get past this is to update The Sims 2 with the latest game patch from http://www.aspyr.com/After patching or after installing any of the expansion packs there is a problem that develops between 11800 to 12000 downloads. To resolve this you will need a programme that alows you to see and edit hidden system files, such as OnyX or any similar software, and root access. Log-in as root. Start OnyX and tell it to display hidden files. Finder will restart, wait until Finder has restarted and completely displays before proceeding. Go into Macintosh HD and find the folder etc and open the file rc.local in text, create this file if it does not already exist. Add these lines or edit them if you have something similar. sysctl -w kern.maxfiles=102000 sysctl -w kern.maxfilesperproc=100000You must set kern.maxfiles 2000 higher than kern.maxfilesperproc. If you need to have more files open, use a higher number, example: sysctl -w kern.maxfiles=202000 sysctl -w kern.maxfilesperproc=200000Save the file to your desktop (uncheck if no extension is provided, use ".txt" format) then move it into the etc folder. Return to OnyX and restore the settings to not show hidden files. Restart the computer. This should get you up and running with the best advantages. Retired Creators / The Post-Modernist Collection / UPDATED: Back-lit Poster (Wall Light) *THANK YOU OLEMANTIKER!!*
on: May 23, 2007, 11:55:31 pm
This object would not exist without the intervention of Olemantiker debugging the BHAVs. So it is dedicated most especially to him! UPDATE 16 June 2007: Improved the Base Object Frame texture so the conduiting is not so damned bright, and corrected the same issue on all the frame recolours. Image featured on this object is original art by Kinu Sekigushi. ©2001 Kinu Sekigushi. All Rights Reserved. This item should work with the base game... maybe, god only knows >_< Adding the additional tile to the footprint did strange and unexpected things that I can't say I understand or know a way to correct. It does work flawlessly in Sims Life Stories and The Sims 2 WITH EPS. It wouldn't work at all without the dilligent help of my beloved friend Olemantiker. Please take a look at his gorgeous build sets! As with all my meshy-weshes, feel free to recklessly pirate and rip-off anything you like. Recolour as you see fit, post the mesh with your recolours, include it with lots, blah blah blah Just enjoy!
