31  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Code mean on: September 20, 2008, 06:25:03 am
ApartmentBase is the empty apratment building which one creates in game.
It is visible on the map.

ApartmentSubLot is the clone of the ApartmenBase generated for a playable sime to live in by the game.
It is NOT visible on the map.
32  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Witch Spells...a dissapointment? on: September 19, 2008, 05:35:26 am
Considering the spirit of the chicken spell, this too may be possible. Smiley
33  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Witch Spells...a dissapointment? on: September 18, 2008, 06:07:41 am
Once SimPE comes out folks will probably be making new spells, if they can be made.
The Spectral Servant is incredibly useful for cleaning up a lot. Sort of a maid/gardener.
34  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / ...is it true, NEW PETS? on: September 16, 2008, 04:17:49 am
Summon Spectral Cat only appears in the spell list with pets installed.
It does not age, nor breed, and the lifespan meter look like servo's lifespan meter.
35  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / What's your take on Securom? on: September 15, 2008, 01:26:10 am
Securom needs to be outlawed.
We buy a product, not a service.
Oxymoron there as most of these have atrocious help.
Some of this stuff I expect to still be using when EA is long dead and gone. Not unlike what they did to Origin Games. I still play Ultima Games on occasion. THe Securom and other malware on Spore, Sims 3, and beyond will steal this option from you.

I bought each CD/DVD and will use No-CD/No Secorom cracks as the game actually has run better and without the most egregious bugs since I began using them after the release of BV.

Watch your firewall the launcher likes to write home.
Launch your game the old maxis way, with the EP exe, preferrably cracked.
36  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / whats your fave part of AL so far? on: September 14, 2008, 04:00:08 am
Slow dance has been there a looong time. I remember havin my sims do it when only the base game, Uni, and Nightlife were out. Smiley
37  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Problem with my expansion packs. on: September 12, 2008, 05:15:26 am
You might try copying the contents from the DVD base game installer to a temp folder on the desktop and install from there.

After installing the base game, then install its update patch.

I remember reading of others with this prob on the official site a few years ago. It had something to do with errors in the installer copying some files from the DVD during install if I remember right.
38  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Witchy-Poo on: September 12, 2008, 03:40:08 am
I picked up an Aspiration Benefit point on 2 Sims so far who studied to maximum darkness and then to maximum good. A rather pleasant surprise.

The Business Perk which gives you access to every Sim in town, including NPC's, is very helpful for making initial contact with the NPC witches by phone.
39  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Unofficial AL patch on: September 11, 2008, 12:58:20 am
This patch is good.
It fixes the bhav which was borked when a teen works on the body of a restorable car, among others.
Kudos!
40  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / whats your fave part of AL so far? on: September 11, 2008, 12:35:12 am
Witches, Objects, New Neighborhoood, New "Socials"

I like the "Wizard of Oz" witches, the new objects, that helicopter is a blast, I am waiting on simt to be updated so I can "inject" the new neighborhood into a superhood I built up off Pleasantview as its base. The technique is laid out over at MTS2 on how to do it.

The NPC Witches seem to get added when the hidden hood "Magic" is added.
I used Paladin's Visual porter to find out who they were as like the Grand Vamps, their names are random.

Apartments look kewl, but I am waiting for the new SimPE to upgrade "low tax" mailbox which I built before Apt Life came out. Current tax sims seem to pay is 104% per annum on all property. ( 1% twice per week. Boston tea party anyone? )

I've rather liked this release. I made sure to get the NoSecurom crack before playin, even though I bought this on DVD. I do not like my ability to burn CD/DVD movies and file archives impared.
41  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Problems becoming a wizard/witch on: September 08, 2008, 08:54:19 pm
The Witches names DO vary from neighborhood to neighborhood.
Just like the Grand Vampires, Mr Big, and the Diva from Nightlife have variable names which are set when the neighborhood is created.

44  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Misc. Mods and Careers / No Green Plantsim Potion on: March 08, 2007, 05:50:45 am
Thanks Monique. Nice work.
It works as described very well.

I had servo try it.
Aside from wasting the potion, it made him thirsty, which was good for some laughs. :B
