So was this your idea Jax? Great idea! LOL...I brought the idea up with Jax some time ago, and was putting together something to present to Kathy, but Jax was faster than me! LOL. I'm glad this is here. I'm very keen to give any help I can to help people write!

This thread is the only thing keeping me from turning into an ice cube as the coldness seeps into the house. Doesn't help that the computer room is a straight-shot in from the front door either. *huddles next to computer screen and just stares at the guys* Yeah...that's better. Oh, I agree! Fireplace? I don't need a fireplace, or a working heater for that matter! I have the hot men here! *looks out window at snow* Do your worst, it's toasty in here!

I haven't tried FRAPs at all yet, I'll have to give it a go. The Linux part of my mentality isn't a fan of shareware but sometimes you have to pay for the good stuff. I tried YAFSScreen (freeware), which I found a link to in Dese's list of picture-taking tips and tricks. It uses the "Print Screen" key instead of one of the Fx keys. I started using it on non-Sim-related items and it works for me. Some of the options are in German. Mr. Aldenhövel said that YAFSScreen was like FSScreen but with some additions of his own. I haven't tried FSScreen yet. Also free, also uses "Print Screen". Fraps has a free downloadable version, which has all the same functionality of the paid version minus a few things which don't make much of a difference if you don't need it. For example: the free version only allows you to save in png format, but you can convert that easily. The paid allows you to save in png, jpeg and a couple others my tired brain can't recall off the top of my head. What I like about it is you can set it to automatically take pictures for you every ten seconds (or whatever interval you set). It gives me a lot of junk shots I just end up deleting, but has given me a number of beautiful jems I wouldn't otherwise have caught on my own.

I think there are some programs floating around out there somewhere that - when running - will automatically save your screenshots everytime you hit the print screen button, I think I used to have one on my old computer if I'm remembering right, but I've definitely heard of them existing somewhere. I don't have my hands on one or where to get one from at the moment though. Maybe I'll have to see if I can't find one again sometime hm? lol Fraps! It's what I use. It runs quietly in the background and will save all your pictures in a folder. The default screencap button is F10, so I recommend changing it to something else not already used in the game.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / How much time do you spend on houses?

Wow joy, that house really is lovely . Personally, if it were up to me, they'd be living outside, because I hate building houses. Usually I'll make one mansion type house (about 1 -2 hours), one nice house (45 minutes - 1 hour), one okay house (20 - 30 minutes), one crap shack (about 20 minutes), and whatever community lot I plan on using. I furnish the houses, then put them in the lots and houses bin, so they're saved and I never have to build another one lol. Unless it's a really special family, I don't go out of my way to build them a nice, unique house. Thanks, Iris! I'm the complete opposite. I've never used one of the premade Maxis houses, and I've only got two houses in my neighborhood that were built by someone else. I've got neighborhoods chock full of houses, and each one is unique. I can happily spend forever building a sim, and forever building them the perfect house.
