Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Should I do it?

I've been considering doing this too, just to make the game load faster. I have probably hundreds of hairs and clothes that I just never, ever use, but I have to wade through them every time I make a Sim.
OmG, that was so true for me too (before I rebooted my computer and still had my downloads). I just had stuff for the sake of having them even if I didn't use them...

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Expansion pack advice
|

It depends on several things: 1. What you want in your game. 2. What custom content you want.
Unfortunately, a lot of custom content obviously requires you to have certain expansions. So the things I say are going to be disregarding cc.
University: This one for me is mostly for the sake of story and for the sake of having it more than anything else. I like that they add a new category of "townies" even though they aren't as separate as downtownies. The new "age group" - "young adults" pretty much sucks because it's just adult that go the college and have some different clothes, but other than that there's no significance in the age group. I send my sims to college mostly for the sake of sending them to college, then either fast forward or cheat through it. There are a few sims that I may keep them in college and maybe even extend their stay.
Nightlife: I don't remember what you get with this, but I remember it's probably one of the best expansions for Sims 2. I think this is where you get turn-ons. You can go on "dates" (which I rarely do). There are vampires (which I actually do use- though they can be annoying as hell). You get to create a downtown. I think I've only sent a sim downtown once, but the thing I love about downtowns is that it allows you to basically create new neighborhoods that are connected to the main one. I like it for creating themed neighborhoods and of course either this or OFB to "merge" the Strangetown, Veronaville, and that one that comes with Seasons to Pleasantview.
Open for Business: I thought it was alright. I rarely open shops and do that junk, but I love servos (but they count as part of the family and are completely controllable). I absolutely hate random complaining customers that complain for absolutely no freaking reason... there's a lot of new objects.
Pets: terrible! Interaction is a bit limited; sims become idiots and play with pet at the expense of their own lives; pets can't be controlled; there's a separate cheat for controlling pets and canceling their actions. Not unless you really really want cats and dogs in the game... I have it installed, but I've never had any of my sims actually own a pet except for the pre-made families that come with the game; but they are so freaking annoying that I would never adopt a pet, and only make them for the sake of story-line; I may need them for the "implied story", but in truth, I hate them too and would kill them if I didn't need them for the story... grr...
Seasons: Surprising okay... especially, for something that came between those two. Having different weather is interesting, but can get annoying because of the sims stupidity in constant needing to look out the window (this thing overrides their current action!), or say that it's snowing, play water balloons outside during winter, take multiple showers when their hygiene is full because they were outside too long and are too cold or too hot, starting to workout because they are too cold without knowing how to stop, having this stupid thing that says some kid is freezing or too hot (when it's the stupid kid's fault for not staying inside when I told him too). In some ways, this expansion kind of ruins going outside, because sims don't know how to manage their time, which can now result in death. It's still a pretty good expansion compared to some of the other crap.
Bon Voyage: No! Just don't even bother. I actually bought this, but I never installed it, and have decided to never install it. I've managed to buy myself an overpriced paperweight, but I suggest you avoid this like the plague, unless you're really willing to deal with bugs, bad programming, and malicious spyware.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / TS2 Making Magic

I never played Makin' Magic, but it sounds interesting. While, it would be nice as a Sims 2 expansion in theory, given their current history with new Sims 2 expansions, it would probably be more trouble than it's worth.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Sims 2 Bon Voyage Bugs and SecurROM Flame-O-Rama [BV patch download at risk]

*quietly gloats* I have been saying for over two years that EA wants nothing but YOUR money, don't give a rat's ass for the so-called Sims Community, and couldn't care less if we all died from brain hemorrhages as a result of stressing out over their mistakes, buggy code, and lies, all they care about is relieving you of your excess weight in the pocket-book.
I have been saying EA sucks and are a pack of liars since the day they rolled The Sims 2 out, I finally feel vindicated now that the bastards have become so openly everything I said they were I could just squee my pants. I always knew it was for the money, and they don't care about us, but I just thought they'd have the common sense to act like they care, and put out something with some quality. I was hoping that they'd come to their senses (at the very least - business-wise), but apparently they've really gone off the deep-end. hearing about the BV patch (which I was waiting for to install BV), let's me know, that BV will just become an expensive paper-weight; I'm just glad I never installed, and I suppose a I've learned a $15 lesson. I'm as much a forgiving person as anyone else, but this whole thing with BV is where I draw the line. I suppose that's a lesson for me for giving big businesses a chance period - well, I know now - people can be forgiven, but big business can go to hell.

*All of my details and textures settings in game are on medium Umm.. yeah, I don't really know what I'm suppose to say. Well, this is my first upload, and like the title says it is thanks to SolidGoldFunk convincing me to upload it, so SolidGoldFunk, this is for you, hun, and anyone else who's desperate for an amateurish sim. The quality may not be all that good, but it's the best I can do. I wanted to limit custom content, but my friends added make-up and changed the skin tone and stuff to make it more "realistic" even though I don't wear make-up . Oh, I think I have the Knowledge aspiration, but my friends say if there was a combination of the knowledge aspiration and the romance aspiration then that would be perfect... but what do my friends know :eh:. I'm also a Pisces, just in case anyone is that meticulous (yes, I am that meticulous as well.). Things included:Eye color- *by jameLia* at MTS2 Lipstick- CreamyLips ‘Raspberry Beret’ by Bruno@MTS2 http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=217580Blush- soft blush – 1 by helaene Helaene, http://www.helaene.comEyeliner – by thesimssi2 at MTS2 Skin tone –34DE36H Louis Lite by Warlokk Not included:The Curly Hair – Recolours of XM Sims Curly Do by DreDo @ ModTheSims2.comhttp://www.modthesims2.com/member/showthread.php?t=155210 Mesh for the hair – Faces=2672 Vertices=1857 Female hairstyle for all ages by Flora http://www.xmsims.com/sims2/ehtm/hair/hair20.htmUh... thank you to all the custom content makers who's work is included. Uhh.. umm.. yeah... that's all, I think. Oh wait, if you like it (per chance), then I have ones of my brothers :evil4:... but not the really younger ones, those children sims and toddler sims are just really hard to make...
