I've peaked previously at a little over 22,000 files in my Downloads folder at about 8.3 GB. My game still ran, and EVERYTHING (unfortunately) showed up. I don't think that there is any 'limit' to how much you can put into your Downloads folder, but the more that you put in there, the slower things will go for your game, since the game has to read more and more files.

This is probably a graphics issue.

There are a number of steps you can take to make things easier on your graphics card, and many of those steps have been explained very clearly HERE

Also, you may want to look at how many trees and mirrors you have on your lots, as these are both known to require a lot of graphics commitment.

Your best bet is likely to be upgrading your graphics card. Depending on your system and resources, I would recommend anything in the ATI Radeon 9 Series, and preferably with at least 128MB onboard, though 256MB is preferential.

Playing the Devil's Advocate here, but the simple solution, in my opinion, would be to skip past the Sim creations that you don't want or are tired of seeing.

I couldn't care less if there was 500 Angelina Jolie sims on any one site. Just because "someone else already made one" is not an excuse to stifle the creativity of another person.

I don't make "celebrity sims," but if I had to guess, I would venture to say that because Angelina has a very unique, exotic look to her, creating an accurate sim of her is a challenging prospect, and any success in doing so is something to proud of. If I made a sim of Angelina and it actually looked like her, I'd be flaunting and sharing that work myself.

I reside in the most vile depths of the most dank, foul, putrescent sewer pipes of existence, otherwise known as New Jersey, or "New York City's Landfill".

I, too, am considering leaving the United States, pending the outcome of the next Presidential Election in 2008. If the carpetbagger harpy Senator from New York defies any sense of rationality and musters a victory into the Oval Office, I will be on the next plane for New Zealand, never to return.
