Simmers' Paradise / Mac-Users Only Peer Support / File Limit Fix - Bon Voyage Problems
|

I've got BV and my file limit was adjusted in OnyX, and I just upgraded to Leopard, and my file limit fix stayed where it was. Which is 42,000/40,000. The only thing I noticed is my userstartup cheat is gone, but I have a backup and just need to test still. Currently I have 1.1 GB, about 5,000 items.
I just reset my game hoods due to multiple crashing, but it was more related to constant testing of new content. Still not sure if the game will run properly since it was installed to the HD, and apparently with Leopard it should be in Applications, dunno, will just try.
I guess which OS are you using? I've heard someone else have issue with the patch not working on Leopard, but my laptop is patched with base game, which increased the file limit to the 10,000/8,000.
I've still got all original patches, and never installed that cumulative one, since it originally borked everything.
Another question, did you update hacks after installing BV? Because those need to be. I belive BV brought with it, an issue with multiple of townies regenerating and filling the hood with unnecessary characters and crashing your game.

So it sounds like you know you have a clothes object in with your build, and its crashing. You have to find it.
Try searching those folders using the keywords: cu, tf, tm, af, am, ef, em. If the person who did the clothes labeled them correctly for age that will pick it out. Otherwise try searching with other common words: dress, shorts, bottoms, tops, pants....etc. Search just your build/buy folders and not the clothing one. Its possible its jewelry as well. Do you have BV? Because if you have jewelry and no BV, that could cause a crash as well.
Otherwise if that turns up nothing start using the 50/50 method. Put half of your downloads in and try it, if no crash, put the other half in. One of those will crash it. When you find the one that does crash, divide in half again. Continue until you find the problem.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Object crashes PLEASE HELP

You probably have objects that require an ep you don't have. What comes to mind is Pets. Make sure to not download pets compatible items, as pets added new game play options that would not work for you. Unless you had an ep after pets, then it might.
What you now need to do is a) either scrap it all or b) start putting small amounts in until it crashes, then you will isolate the problem objects.

Mi-Chii I wasn't able to update during the semester. I didn't want to take the chance of the install of windows getting corrupted as well. All my classes are online, and require windows sometimes.
As to WooHoo and Leopard...it works... I have finally upgraded to Leopard on my macbook pro, and WooHoo seems to open packages the same way as before with no issues. It actually seemed to open the program faster in Leopard than it did in Tiger. I have yet to install TS2 on here. Classes start in a couple weeks, so I probably won't be able to.

I would also recommend getting the largest HD you can afford. While you can add external for storage, if you plan on partitioning and installing windows you will want the biggest. Windows sucks a lot of space.

You may not have the correct meshes. All downloads are compatible whether pc or mac. The only difference is if the texture file is an incorrect size, then they just show up grey.
Make sure you have the mesh, and depending on what your downloading, it may not be color binned, meaning look in the custom section.

Clean Installer doesn't work for Macs.....:smt104
It doesn't matter what order you install the ep's. If you create a lot of bodyshop items, you might want to delete what's in the Projects folder. If this is too full BS won't open.
groups.cache and accessories.cache and cigen.cache are temporary files the game uses. All are safe to delete as they regenerate.
Also delete your plist. Usually its in your library/preferences. Look for the com.aspyr.bodyshop one. You can delete any or all of these and this will reset the preferences for the game.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / windows crashing

If you have crashing in your OS not in your game...then you need to repair your OS installation. Or just delete your entire downloads folder...have you run antivirus?
You should be able to put your OS install disk in the drive and I think repair it from there after the startup. Otherwise just reboot and when asked to press a key to startup do it. Follow on screen instructions.
CAUTION: May or may not lose data doing this!
