Aw, I think the "long distance relationships don't work" could make for some amazing drama personally.  Maybe some pictures that get put up on a social networking site make it go belly-up and then they need to work it out or something, you know?  But I like the new story too.  They're just so different.  It's like those mangaka who use the same designs for different characters.
