Simmers' Paradise / Content Creation & Recoloring Help / how can 1 replace a mesh to a default mesh
|
on: September 14, 2005, 03:22:51 pm

Well first I would suggest, instead of trying to change a default, grab my milkshape tutorial and grab the tutorial it speaks of from http://www.modthesims2.com (if it is still available) and learn how to extract and modify a mesh successfully, once you can do that without any problems, then you can proceed to making a new default mesh. Edit: I just checked, the tutorial is still available from http://www.modthesims2.com through the link in my tutorial...BriAnna's tutorial will teach you about extracting the mesh and putting the mesh back into the game, my tutorial will help you learn milkshape which is one of a few programs you can use to edit the meshes from the game.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Game crashing
|

Do you have any custom bathroom content? Maybe some that got corrupted? I'm not too sure what to suggest...other then...move your downloads folder to your desktop..play the game for a bit and see if it crashes...don't save...and if it doesn't...then you have a corrupted file(s) somewhere...next step would be to put your folder back...if you remember the last time you played and had no problems (the date) use clean install to organize your download folder by date and move everything that was installed after that date and try the game again...if it works, then try moving half of the items back...if it still works move half of the items left into the downloads folder...keep wittling it down like these until it crashes...then you know which files you last moved in there...pull half of those back out and try again...eventually you will find what is causing it...if it is in your download folder.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / How do I use SimPe??
|
on: September 06, 2005, 04:27:42 pm

If your wanting to duplicate a sim that was created either in CAS or was born in the game you have to use simpe...the latest version is the best to use to do it...it is very simple...once the program is running you click tools neighborhood -> neighborhood browser, select the neighborhood the sim lives in and then click tools neighborhood -> simsurgery when it loads scroll down and find the sim, click on it once, then click use under the patient sim, then the export option turns on click this, give the file a name you can recognize, then save. Quit and open BS...click create sim find the sim you just exported and you can then edit it, or instead of editing it you can package it to a file or to the exchange.

Simmers' Paradise / Content Creation & Recoloring Help / Milkshape Questions and Answers

With what your wanting to do...you will need Wes's plugin so you can add polys/vertices...The plugins are on mts2...understand that when you use those, if I am remember right, the mesh will no longer be able to go fat, or fit...it will always be, what it is...if that is acceptable, then by all means give it a shot, but do something small first, check out the results in game, before committing to a complete outfit.

Well without seeing what you have done, or knowing more about what you have done, I am unsure how to advise...did you alter the poly/vertice count of the mesh? If not then your probably still okay...there is no good explanation for helping to understand how to do something...it is so much trial and error...if you can get some pics (using screen caps) and posting them here,I can try to help point out things.

Simmers' Paradise / Tutorials / Grykons Milkshape Tutorial for Mesh Editing

I have talked with Quaxi (sp?) about the obj difference in the newer SimPE versions...you can use the newer versions and still use the tutorials, if you change the export setting from xzy to xyz. Then your models should show up in milkshape as mine do.

A quick note to new Meshers...I use simpe v.17c for my work...newer versions export differently, so my setup of Milkshape will display differently then what yours will. I will see if I can get permission to post 17c here in case someone wants to use it.

Simmers' Paradise / Content Creation & Recoloring Help / blender 3d
|
on: August 16, 2005, 11:36:21 am

Blender is a good program...but be cautioned...it does not do sims 2 obj's that have to be animated...so don't waste your time if you want to do skin meshes, or other things that move...it will not work...been there...done it many times and got totally bent...use milkshape.
