1  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Blue Screen of Death on: April 12, 2008, 03:09:36 pm
You might have a look at this article: http://www.modthesims2.com/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:nVidia_Blue_Screen_Issue  and see if either of the fixes help you.  I'm running a similar configuration (7600 GT with AVG) and have had no problems even with shaders onsince I used a driver cleaner to clear out the old drivers and then reinstalled the latest one.
2  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Photoshop Elements on: April 11, 2008, 06:56:19 pm
The short answer is yes.  You can still do recolors and eyes and whatever else.  It just doesn't have all the advanced features of Photoshop.  Although you can also do all of those things (and more) with Gimp, which is totally free.  You can also use Paint.net which is a little more intuitive to learn, but it doesn't have the capabilities of Gimp and so I use it only for simple slider recolors or editing screenshots.  While I have alll 3 programs, (PS Elements, Gimp and Paint.net), I use Gimp almost exclusively for making Sims 2 textures.  The only time I use PS elements is when I use a tablet, because it plays nicer with mine than Gimp does.
3  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Insanely High Poly Counts - now you KNOW what to trash! on: April 03, 2008, 06:37:23 am
This is a very good point.  I actually went on a poly count craze about a year ago and purged.  Now I take a more balanced approach, play on smaller lots, or have  few mirrors if I want gardens or ponds or lots of fences, etc.  Essentially I look at the item and decide if the poly count or extra animation or reflection is worth it, so some higher poly items have crept back in.  I'm harshest for looking at polys on things like dining chairs that I will have multiples of on a lot or clutter for the same reason.
4  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Theres water in my basement! on: April 02, 2008, 08:17:46 pm
This happens to me as well since FT, though it apparently was a BV issue due to the new water lot features(I don't have BV).  It's due to the water table in the neighborhood.  If your lot is in a low lying area, digging will hit water.  See this for a better explanation: http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Water_in_Basement
5  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Insanely High Poly Counts - now you KNOW what to trash! on: April 02, 2008, 05:55:53 pm
It looks like from my quick look, that the counter numbers are caused by the fact that there are multiple versions of the counter in one package.  The numbers seem to be derived from adding all the versions.  If I do that I get the same numbers that are listed.  The counts are too high for counters but not as high as that.  Actually that whole set is high which is a shame, because I love it, but even the things that are essentially boxes are higher than they should be.
6  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Freetime picture problem on: April 01, 2008, 09:44:26 pm
This was a common FT problem and is apparently fixed by the patch that came out today.  I use Print Screen only, and haven't played with a patched game yet, so I have no personal experience, but it's listed as a fixed feature.Smiley
7  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Custom Objects & Recolors / Rideable Pony, Base Game Compatible on: March 16, 2008, 06:28:14 pm
Oh it's so beautiful!  Thank you for this sweet little pony.  I'm so amazed at your objects.
8  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / alpha editable text on sim.... on: March 13, 2008, 09:52:47 pm
It looks like the words somehow got on the alpha of the necklace recolor and so are showing up on the skin when the sim wears the necklace.  Does it happen only with that outfit? It could be a mapping issue with that outfit and the necklace.  If you want, you could always open the necklace file up in body shop and take a look at the alpha file.  If that text is there, just fill it the text with black, reimport and the words will go away.  Smiley  You could also let the creator know what's going on and see if she (or he) will fix it.
9  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Stupid Graphics Problem. *Sigh* on: March 11, 2008, 11:56:18 pm
I just replaced my FX5200 before I installed free time.  I found that I had to play with the card settings in the Nvidia settings and change them from "application controlled"  to the settings I wanted in order to avoid the textures going blurry in the game. There's a thread on MTS2 (http://www.modthesims2.com/article.php?t=97876) that describes this. I'm not sure if it's the same problem you're having, but it's worth a try.
10  Simmers' Paradise / FreeTime Help / woohoo in cars? with free time? on: March 11, 2008, 11:37:45 pm
That's weird.  I just had Sims wohoo in a car (the Maxis truck) without incident.  I have Free time also, though I have quite a few MATY FT mods as well as insim object edition.  I'll have to try other cars out.
11  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Custom Objects & Recolors / new Mesh-Rubbish bin for the nature! on: March 07, 2008, 07:59:34 am
Oh this is so nice, and perfect for my colonial neighborhood. Thank you so much! Smiley
12  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Misses / Historical Maternity Project: Victorian on: March 02, 2008, 05:02:30 pm
I play lots of historical inspired neighborhoods, which is the main reason I use inteen. For a while I was just adding pregnant morphs to other custom meshes, but I wanted to be able to share recolors, so I had to make my own.  The first in this project is an early to mid Victorian silhouette.  I've made 6 day dresses and  3 evening dresses.  They were inspired by fashion plates mostly found: here

Hairs in the Pics are by Peggy, Windkepper at TSR, Pronup Sims and Sussi

Although I'm uploading them as teen maternity, they work just fine as regular clothes, even if you don't have inteen installed.

All pregnant sims in the pictures are in their third trimesters.  I'm sorry for the odd picture lighting.  I'm having driver issues that I'm still working out.
Day Dresses

Evening Dresses

A shot of a few on regular nonpregnant teens

Known Issue: The mapping on the bottom of the skirt is messed up; it's what I sacrificed for the shape of the skirt.  You only see this in extreme dance moves and when the sim reclines on a bed.

Remember to grab the mesh!

Comments are welcome and appreciated.  Thanks for looking and enjoy Smiley

***On Historical Accuracy: These are "sim realistic" rather than strictly historically accurate.  They are inspired by real Victorian dresses, but I've taken liberties to sim them.  If you have issues with this, I'm sorry and I hope you find something more to your liking elsewhere Smiley
13  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Misses / School Uniforms with Pants for Teen Girls on: February 17, 2008, 07:27:55 pm
Thanks guys, I'm glad you like them Smiley.  I can probably do a default replacement set.  As to little girls, I'm sorry,  I probably won't get to that anytime soon, though I may do it in the future. Right now, I have a bunch of projects building up and they can already wear the boy's school uniform without needing a new mesh.
14  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Misses / School Uniforms with Pants for Teen Girls on: February 13, 2008, 01:01:04 pm
This was a request that I had a lot of fun making.  It's a new mesh and three recolors of the teen girl's school uniform with pants instead of the maxis skirt.  These will show up in everyday, so your girls can have the option of not wearing skirts to school each day.

The recolors have sensible names, so you can keep only the ones you want.  The mesh was made with SimPe and Milkshape and has 2244 faces (Similar to Maxis skirt which has 2176).  There is a working fat morph, and the mesh is bumpmap enabled.

Known Issue: There is some minor clipping of the pants through the very bottom edge of the blazer when the sim does some more exaggerated turns.  It's the same thing you'll see on many of the Maxis meshes, but I wanted to mention it in the interest of full disclosure. Smiley

Feel free to recolor the mesh as you like and include it with uploads.  Just please give credit and a link.  The textures are edited Maxis and can be used with credit and a link.  If you do use this, I'd be thrilled if you let me know!  That always makes my day.

As always, let me know if you have problems (or good things to say).  Thanks for looking!

**Hairs are by XM Sims, Adele, and Rose.
15  Sims 2 Community Downloads / Misses / Teen Maternity Tunics with Leggings on: June 03, 2007, 06:43:18 pm

luv the outfits <3, but when i downlaoded them, they never showed up! wierd hu?

Hmm, which EP's do you have?  Which version of inteen?  Are they showing up as Maxis outfits or nothing at all?

These should be base game compatible teen outfits and should show up under everyday regardless of the pregnant morphs if you have the mesh and at least one of the recolors in your downloads folder.  I'd love to help, but unless I can replicate the problem there's not much I can do.  It works for me, and this is the first I've had a report of them not showing up, so more info would help Smiley
