1  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Mansion and Garden Stuff Crashes on: May 20, 2009, 10:51:53 pm
Thanks for that. I had tried CEP 8—a few days before CEP 9 was released—but it's only compatible with the game up to Apartment Life. The thing is that I uninstalled every single component of the CEP 4 and 8 and the game STILL didn't work. I've since uninstalled my entire game completely because it was simply no use. I shall have to try CEP 9 when I reinstall the entire game.

By the way, I avoided mentioning this because I don't think it's part of the problem, but I am running full Windows XP on my iMac. After this game disaster, I uninstalled XP and haven't reinstalled it. So I'll have to do that, too.
2  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Mansion and Garden Stuff Crashes on: May 10, 2009, 03:44:55 pm
Hey everyone. I hope somebody else has my problem. Here goes:

I'd installed Mansion and Garden Stuff and it was working alright. Then, when I installed Numenor's CEP Version 4 (I hadn't upgraded since a couple years ago, or something), the game seemed to freak out. I'm still not quite sure if the CEP was what did it, though, because when I uninstalled all of the CEP's components the game still freaked out.

When I started the game a blue screen (not the blue screen of death) came up and loaded forever. I've since deduced it was setting up the EA Games folder. But then once the game loads and starts, everything works really well, except when I go to build a Sim. Once I click the Build a Sim button, it begins loading and gets to the second loading bar and then crashes. The computer goes black and I have to hold down the power button to force restart it. It's terrible! I don't know what's going on. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling my entire game (I have all expansion packs so it takes a long time) but NOTHING seems to help.

If anyone has any suggestions I'd be extremely grateful.

Tyler

how do i download this do i just click on the files? Someone please help!

Hello, I'm sorry if your still hanging off a cliff trying to figure this out. Sad It's my fault that I haven't been to my thread in a long time. To download the Vols Cheerleader outfit, just click on the file right below the last picture. On your computer, it should appear wherever you told it to save, then go into the zip file, and the Sims 2 Custom Content Installer will come up after doubleclicking on the file inside.

I hope that helpd!

Thanks for looking! Cheesy:D:D
6  Simmers' Paradise / Mac-Users Only Peer Support / Macusers Unite!!!! on: August 26, 2007, 02:02:53 pm
Hey! I think you're absolutely correct! Unfortunately, however, there's no real way that I know of to make objects on a Mac because we need SimPE, and that's only compatible with stupid Windows. I wish somebody would collaborate with the dude or dudes who made SimPE and write a Mac version, but they just don't seem up to the task. I mean, sure, you can go ahead and make meshes, but when it comes down to it, the only way it'll end up on your game is with SimPE.

This moron was, for a very long time, seemingly working on a "SimPE for Mac," called "WooHoo for Mac." The guy got cold feet and disappeared off the face of the planet, so now there's a difficult-to-find, half-functional version floating around that doesn't even do what it was written to do. Retarded, but whatever. The best we can do now is get an Intel Mac, run SimPE on Windows and move the files to our EA Games folder on Mac OS X. Due to the rediculously high prices for Windows opporating systems, however, I have been unable to fully test this method, but have heard from other Mac users that it is highly effective.

As for me, I use Wings3D, a simple, free program (downloadable here: http://wings3d.com/) for meshwork, and leave myself to dream about my objects being someday available on my game. I mean, all of the PC users out there are getting the very most of their games by actually being able to create the objects they're ever in need of; we have to depend upon someone to make something and cross our fingers that they won't abandon the project.

I know my news to you wasn't exactly what you wanted to hear, but it's as far as Mac users have been able to get, to the best of my knowledge. We've also tried PC for Mac, but it's miserable and doesn't work in the slightest. Perhaps you'll have better luck? Of course, that too is expensive.

Good luck to you, AuntieThorne and I sincerely hope we Macs will eventually one day be able to Create as our PC cousins have been doing for so long before us. Macs shall prevail! Cheesy

P.S. I'm a HUGE Mac supporter—as much as I support my High School! Cheesy
7  Simmers' Paradise / Mac-Users Only Peer Support / Mac User: Game Freezes Resulting in Forced Restart on: August 24, 2007, 11:51:53 am
Hello, everyone! I have a minor issue that's occured since the beginning of time, when no expansion pack ever existed for The Sims 2. It has, of course, continued to pester me and my brother, even throughout University, Nightlife, Open for Business, and Seasons.

Occasionally—not always, but every once in a short while—the game decides to just freeze up, and there's nothing more to it. We can't do anything from that point; the game doesn't crash or anything. It just freezes, and despite all of our weary attempts at forcing the game to close, nothing renders a solution, leaving us with the only other option: to force-restart our computer by holding down the power button.

As this is an unhealthy way to shut off any computer, I truly hate to keep up the practice, and therefore would rather (for my computer's sake and my game's sake) have the freezing problem prevented.

I run my game on an Apple eMac G4. 1.25 GHz PowerPC, 512 MB RAM, ATI Radeon 9200. Though I don't have the required speed for Seasons, it's close enough and has actually performed better than any of the other EP's I've installed. Still, Season's is not the issue, because the game has been seizing up ever since the base game.

Anyone out there have a possible solution? I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks for reading my Sims 2 woes! Take care, all! Cheesy
8  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / What would you prefer to see more of? on: August 14, 2007, 11:32:05 pm
Please allow me a brief tirade about clothes:

Dudes, what Sims 2 needs most of all are more body meshes and MEN CLOTHING. Honestly, how much women clothing can your computers hold? I hate to break it to you, but those of you who voted to see more women clothing are probably looking for something that already exists beneath the layers and layers of lingerie sediment over the ages.

Seriously, EVERY DAY the front page of Insimenator is dominated by tons and TONS of women clothing! Aren't the different styles exhausted yet? I mean, I'm sure there must be three of the same yellow cardigan somewhere among the thousand gigabytes of tight-fitting jeans and frilly blouses.

I respect everyone's vote, but my tolerance is wearing quite thin. It's only so long before I finally go mad while scrolling through all of the women articles. Occasionally—occasionally, one guy outfit will popup from some valiant simmer brave enough to oppose the tyranny brought up by our fellow  feminists, but just one isn't enough to satisfy those of us who haven't drowned in the never-ceasing flow of female apparel.

Just look at what Maxis gives us men right from the get-go: we are supplied with only a third of the amount compared to the ladies. Mens' wardrobes may not be overflowing with choices, but that doesn't mean PacSun doesn't occupy half of its square-footage with guy tee-shirts, shorts, and jeans.

So just find it in your hearts, people. Count the feminine content on your game, and consider before posting your next fashion model trend.

Thank you all for reading this. I finally have that out.

Yay men clothing! Yay body meshes! Go simmers! Cheesy

Hello, all! Here is the cheerleading outfit for the Tennessee Volunteers! I hope you all enjoy it, especially robert1967!

P.S. Sorry, robert1967 that it took me so long. I was gone for about 2 weeks on vacation. Smiley
P.P.S. Sorry for those who prefer this to be in .rar format, I can only put it in .zip and .Sims2Pack; but it works, right? Wink

Hello, everyone! This is a third attempt of an ideal house of mine. There are quite a few custom creations included in this lot, so I've done my best to give all the credit I needed. Make sure to download the credit attachment and check it out! The people who made all of the custom content did a wonderful job, and I'm sure they worked long and hard to make their pieces come out just right.

As for my lot, I'd like to call it a perfect home for a small family. It has two bedrooms, three bathrooms, a roomy kitchen, and a comfortable living room.

Price: $146,370
Lot Size: 3x2

Required E.P.'s: University, Nightlife, & Open for Business

Enjoy! Cheesy
