This is a tutorial I made for cesartje, and I thought I should share it with the rest of you. I know that there are others online somewhere on MTS2, but incase some on this site don't go to MTS2, here is my version. This is how to permanently change your sim's height, until they grow to a different lifestage. After that, they will revert back to the standard height, and you will have to change it again. Here we go:

*Special Note: Changing your sim’s height may alter their interactions with other sims. It may make hugging, kissing, etc. off center, because your sims are set to a certain height. Also their limbs may look odd. Sims are not meant to have their skeletons stretched. Do this at your own risk, and as always, back your game up before you attempt to do this. If you do not like the way it turns out, you can always revert the numbers back to the way that they were with this same process.

1. Go to your "My Documents" folder and click on "EA Games".

2. Once there, choose "The Sims 2", then when you have gotten there, choose "Neighborhoods".

3. Once you have gotten to Neighborhoods, you will see a few folders consisting of mostly one letter and three numbers following. Your screen may look something like this: (See the Neighborhoods.JPG I attached at the bottom. Sorry guys, I couldn't figure out how to move my attachments up here)

The individual folders represent each of your neighborhoods. G001 in my game, for example, is Rivierblossom Hills.

4. Click on the neighborhood you want (the one that has the sim of who's height you want to change). This may take a bit of time to figure out which Neighborhood is which. But you'll get it.

5. Once you are there, click on the folder marked "Characters".

6. When you open the "Characters" folder, a whole bunch of SimPE files will show up. They will be titled with the Neighborhood, then User, then a series of numbers. In this tutorial, we will use G001_User01264. (See the Character Files.JPG I have attached at the bottom)

This is the hard part, finding the file of the sim you are looking for. Here's a little hint that might make it easier to find your sim, instead of having to look through up to thousands of files.

*Newer sims (ones that you have created recently) will be down toward the bottom of the page.
Older sims (ones you have created a long time ago) will be toward the middle/upper part of the page. Also, the first 500 or so files are usually reserved for NPCs or Townies from the base game. My actual sims I have created didn't start until the 519th file. So you should probably start from 500 on.*

7. This is how you can tell which file is which: When you open the SimPE file, scroll down a little ways and you will run into a folder that will match the name of the file you just opened, but, it will have your sims first name following the title. Here it is "G001_User01264-Rayne". (See the Rayne.JPG I have attached at the bottom)

8. If you want to be absolutely sure that this is your sim, scroll down almost all the way to the bottom of the list and you should see a folder marked "jpg/tga/png Image". You may see two of these folders with the same title, click the one that is written in black, not blue. After you have clicked this, a picture of your sim should show up. If you see the sim you wanted, you have the right file!!

9. Now comes the actual changing of height. On the top half of the page, off to the left, you should see an option that says "Age Data AGED(1)" Click that.

10. Then on the right side of the top of the page, you should see another option that is also called "Age Data" written in blue. Click that.

11. Now on the bottom half of the page, a chart with a bunch of words and numbers should show up. It looks like this:

12. In the chart, look through it until you see a piece called "stretch (dtSingle)=" There should be either a 1 or a .94 after this title. that is your sim's height. Click it.

13. Across from the chart, in the bottom box named "Value" your sims height should be written there. In order to change your sim's height, you need to type something else in the box. The standard height per sim "skeleton" is 1. If you don't know what number to convert your changes to, see the table in #14. I got this height conversion chart from MTS2. So big thanks to the person that made this!

14. The numbers on the left are heights, in feet, of how tall you want your sim to be. Example "5 1/2" is five and a half feet, or 5'6". The numbers on the right are conversions to put in the box.
4 ½= 0.7500
4 7/12= 0.7639
4 2/3= 0.7778
4 3/= 0.7917
4 5/6= 0.8056
4 11/12= 0.8194
5= 0.8333
5 1/12= 0.8472
5 1/6= 0.8611
5 ¼= 0.8750
5 1/3= 0.8889
5 5/12= 0.9028
5 ½= 0.9167
5 7/12= 0.9306
5 2/3= 0.9444
5 ¾= 0.9583
5 5/6= 0.9722
5 11/12= 0.9861
6= 1.0000
6 1/12= 1.0139
6 1/6= 1.0278
6 ¼= 1.0417
6 1/3= 1.0556
6 5/12= 1.0694
6 ½= 1.0833
6 7/12= 1.0972
6 2/3= 1.1111
6 ¾= 1.1250
6 5/6= 1.1389
6 11/12= 1.1528
7= 1.1667
7 1/12= 1.1806
7 1/6= 1.1944

15. Choose the height that you want to change your sim to. Let’s say I want to make Rayne 5’9”. I’m going to choose the number that coincides with 5 ¾, which is 0.9583. Type the conversion you want into the box. Make sure you type it just right before you’re done. Or else your height may be really screwed up. (See the Last Bit.JPG at bottom)

16. Click “Commit” at the bottom right of the screen. A pop-up will ask you if you would like to save your changes. Choose Yes.

17. Now you’re done! Close SimPE and the next time you open your game, your sim should be the desired height.

In the Characters folder, you have to click on one of the little icons and when it opens, you have to scroll down and read the name of the sim.

Thanks hun. I might get the nerve to try that cos it really irks me that they all are the same height.
