In three different families, I've tried to have two pugs have a litter of puppies (not the same pugs either). I'm using the EA default pugs. Two families were EA default sims, one was a second gen sim. I do have many hacks/mods, but I've double checked each and every single one of them to ensure they are compatible with all the expansions I have. I've also double checked them with the Hack Conflict Detection Utility. I've attempted to force their births with the "boolprop controlpets on" cheat in conjunction with the InSIMinator, but nothing happens when I use the Give Birth command. I've gone through the MTS2 problem resolution FAQ. I think the only thing I have not done is reinstall everything without any downloads, and try a birth on a clean family. I'm hoping to avoid having to do that, as it takes FOREVER and a day to uninstall and reinstall this many expansions (and watch a 9 mo old baby at the same time)!

Any advice?

Have you tried taking your mods out and trying? That's my first suggestion. If all works without your mods, then you have a mod conflict. A mod conflict doesn't necessarily mean that one of them is not compatible with the EP you have. It can also mean that one of your mods is creating a conflict with another mods. You just have to track down which one(s).

Well... I *thought* I had, but just to be sure of it, I removed all of my mods and started a new family in a new neighborhood. All my other attempts had been in the same neighborhood. Lo and behold, I was able to get puppies (although I didn't try with pugs, just pets from the Adoption agency).

So what do you think my best course of action is at this point? Should I list my mods here, to see if anyone can point out the likely culprit? Adding them back in one at a time and testing will make for a lot of litters of puppies!

Also, some of my mods are global... will the old neighborhood be irrevocably tainted by those mods so that if one of them *is* the culprit, I won't be able to fix it without a reinstall?

Lets see...

InSIMinator v2.9 SIM edition
InTEENimator 19b Apartment Life (but I added that after I started having this problem)
Smart Toddler Picture
Triplets and Quads (recently updated)
Becks Ridable Cow
Becks Ridable Pony
Buyable Wishing Well
marhis-morepointsforprofwoohoo (new)
LBFMoreGenieLamp100

I think that's it.

You could try going to simwardrobe.com and get the Hack Conflict Detection Utility (found under Sims 2 > Utilities).

Yeah, I tried that. Probably easy to miss in my initial ramble. It didn't find any conflicts.

Oops sorry *facepalm*

Then your best method is to try the 50/50 method. Make a subfolder for your mods, and split them in half. Put on half in and try your game, then take it out and do the same with the other half. Take the one that borks your game, split it in halfl, and repeat until you narrow it down.

Pain in the tuckuss, yes, but at least you only  have 50 or so downloads to go through. There are people who have to do this with their entire cc folder.  Blink

I keep all my mods in a subfolder anyway so I can keep track of the pesky little buggers. Most of my other custom content are recolors and genetics (non-pet), and I do have one career (although I haven't even used it yet).

So once mods are installed, simply removing them from the Downloads will remove them from the game? There's no "residual" left in the game code that would mean I need to delete other folders and such?

That's right. Taking the mod out of your downloads folder will remove it from the game Smiley

No, not a pet career. It's the Adventurer career from MTS2. Removing all hacks caused immediate birth of the puppies, so it is indeed something in my hacks/mods folder. Now to just discover what it is!
