Try a girlfriend, pinksword.
I'm kidding. Break-ups happen. Just give yourself some time to heal and feel better. You'll find a good one out there someday around the bend.

Katie, sounds to me like your grandma needs her false-teeth slapped out, and your pops needs to grow a spine sometime. Hehe, have fun at the party.

Guys, I am REALLY trying hard to toilet train Daemian before Rosie is born. I have tried everything, and they have all failed miserably. Today I am starting the "Diaper Free" quick method. It was my last resort, but so far it seems to be doing okay. He hasn't gone to the bathroom on his potty seat yet, but he hasn't gone on the floor either. So he's doing good. I hope this works.

Have you tried throwing Cheerio-s into the toilet and asking him if he can sink them by piddling on them? Hey, don't look at me like that, I've been told that it works.

We have tried that with him. He just stands there and looks at us like we're on drugs. He's still trying to understand the concept of using the toilet. Right now he is pretty much thinking, "Going in my diaper is so much easier." But I'm trying. He does seem excited about wearing underwear like his father. So that's my ticket I think. I am just going to keep telling him that Daddy uses the toilet and that might make him want to do it more. He likes sitting on the potty seat, but he doesn't get why he should go to the bathroom in it. Since I just started the diaper-free method today, he may quickly find that he likes being dry and not having a poofy diaper stuck to his butt.

My brother and his girlfriend had it a lot easier with their kid. He was potty trained before he was 3 (though he did have some... night troubles at first Undecided). Now it'll start all over again, as they're expecting another baby boy in a few months  Grin)

Next year is a real baby-boom in my family. At least two of my cousins are expecting babies, plus my brother Smiley. The funny thing is that the babies' parents are around the same age, and were playmates when they were kids Smiley

It's the same with my family. I'm expecting and so are two of my second-cousins. I just really, really, really hope that my sister-in-law doesn't get pregnant again. That's the last thing she needs.

My oldest completely refused the potty seat looking at us like we were monsters for suggesting she go in a "chair."

I bought her underwear (hoping she'd use the potty if she felt like a big girl) and the first day she used her baby step to climb up & balance precariously on the edge of the toilet.   I thought she'd fall in Titter but that's how she decided to do it.  It seems the potty chair was what she didn't want...she wanted to use the same one we use I guess.

You never know what those little minds are thinking--try the regular toilet. They even sell kiddie smaller seats with lids to snap fit over the regular one, although mine preferred the balance act.

I have tried the regular toilet with the soft foam baby seat on top. He sits on the toilet but eventually gets uncomfortable and cries. He just seems like he is obsessed with going to the bathroom in his diapers. But when he had an accident today, he at least gasped and didn't know what to think. Maybe this is a step in the right direction with him.

Did you try it with no baby seat? Just a suggestion.  I know they look like they're hanging on the edge of a cliff (especially at 1) but it's the way she choose on her own. Also the urge usually comes right after meals or snacks a potty break right after might help him establish a pattern.

I think you're right Wink & the gasp means he's earnestly thinking about doing it or was trying and misjudged the timing. Good luck.
