I doubt this exists but is there a game mod out there that tells you if you would like to go to work on a day you have off?

Doubtful that that exists.

But you could use the Insimenator (or similar mods) to change the day of the week to one which the job requires, and then change it back after the Sim returns from work.

BTW, is there a fix that allows pets to sit on the GL beds?

For the pets to sit on the GL beds, you should go to Lord Darcy's thread to pick up a fix there to resolve the pet problem with the beds.
