Hi folks.  This really isn't a cry for help as much as it is a (comedic) vent.  If anyone else has experienced any genetic oddities in their game, feel free to share.  It's good to know that you're not alone Hug2.

In the past, I've created sims and saved the ones that I've found really attractive/interesting to reuse as a premade base later.  And this is where my saga begins...  In short order, these are the characters I'm playing with:

Male - Dark brown hair, blue eyes, light skin (made from a saved sim with strawberry blond hair, blue eyes, light skin). No family ties and no inherited anything.

Female - Black hair, brown eyes, medium skin (her mother has black hair, green eyes and light skin/father has black hair, brown eyes, darker medium skin. Neither parents have any genetic ties other than their children...although the father is claiming to be a descendant of Queen Hatshepsut...ah those whacky, whacky challenges)

Child of these two - Brown eyes, medium light skin and...strawberry blond hair....WHAT?!  Lol!  I changed dad's hair color in CAS when I created him, why is her hair still strawberry blond?  This has randomly happened before with eye color, but I never really noticed it until my two dark haired parents produced a strawberry blond daughter.  Anyone else have any genetic oddities that they'd like to share?

I use a default skin, that usually works fine.
However, several times the kids of sims with default skintones are born with a completely different skintone (one of Ren's). I still haven't figured out why, since the Ren skintones are not defaults. And I have tried to remove them, or at least find out where those trouble-making skins are...

(uups... That was a sims 2 problem. But it is a genetic problem anyway...)

Try Marhis' tuning mod for Sims 3 in her thread at MATY. The file is called marhis-Genetics-Mutation1percent, and it is in .zip format so you will need to unzip the file and install it.

I use that one personally and haven't found any genetic oddity so far with my Sims. They seem to be consistent in their hair, eye and skin colors and not out of the blue like you stated about one of your Sims suddenly getting strawberry-blond hair when neither parent possessed that hair color.

As admirable as another user's pictures can be, and as tempting as it is to simply quote one of their posts with every single one of their pictures included, please refrain from quoting pictures.  (Once again, doing that saves those with slow connections loading time.)  If you must quote another user's post, please remove all image related links or BB tags from the quote area before posting.  If not done, any quoted pictures will be removed, and repeat offenders will be reminded after a certain amount of removed images.
