video card issue

I have a problem when running the sims 3 and get a message that says the video card is not recognized by EA's database is that supposed to happen?

Well, since we aren't mind readers (psycho and psychic may sound similar, but guess which one I'm not
), and we can't actually physically see your computer, telling us your computer specs would be a great start.
It could very well mean your video is not supported and won't work with the game, but until I know more I can't say for sure.

The computer is a Dell Dimension 4700 and it has 3 gigabytes of RAM also a Nvidia GeForce 210 graphics card

What is your processor speed and what operating system are you using? Also, is this just the base game?

Windows XP service pack 3 and I believe 2.65 ghz but I could be wrong and also it's the base game.

Try updating your videocard and make sure you have the latest patch installed for the game.
