Now my Sim Kids are teenagers and one of them wants to go to college. Will they still be part of the family when they go to college or will they not and can you go visit your Sim that is in college?

They'll still be a part of the family. Your college student sim can invite his family over to visit and vice versa.

There's a couple of cut scenes that are new to University too...one when your Sim first moves into a dorm and another when they graduate (if you choose the Graduation party option) They are cheesy but never fail to amuse me  Cheesy

Just as a note, you can also have families move to a college community. I have a young couple of two toddlers living on campus so she can go to college. He has a regular job.
